Deutsche Telekom Taking Its Time To Exit US Market [Rumor]

Deutsche Telekom Taking Its Time To Exit US Market [Rumor]For those unfamiliar, Deutsche Telekom is the parent company of US carrier T-Mobile. As you might have heard, there have also been talks that T-Mobile could be bought up by Sprint and in the past we have seen how other carriers, such as AT&T, have attempted to purchase T-Mobile as well. All of this seems to indicate that Deutsche Telekom wants to exit the US market as they believe that by being fourth place, behind AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint, it would limited their long-term profitability. Samsung’s Rumored “Context” Service Will Collect Your Data

Samsungs Rumored Context Service Will Collect Your DataOne way of improving an app is by writing a review for it which provides feedback to the developer on what sort of changes should and could be made. However it seems that Samsung could be looking to make that a more automated process, thanks to a report from The Information who claims that Samsung is developing a service called “Context” in which it would allow third-party services to offer targeted features to a user based on what he/she likes. In a way this is kind of like how Facebook and Google offer users targeted ads, but instead of ads, what Samsung hopes to achieve with Context is to offer up improved app experiences.

Based on the information being collected, such as what you type, what apps you use, what kind of data is collected by your phone’s sensors, it will then allow developers to use that information to tailor apps to your liking. For example if you frequently search for vegetarian recipes, a cook book app might open up with vegetarian recipes listed by default since it knows that is your preference, or a restaurant-locator might list vegetarian restaurants first, and so on. In a way it is kind of creepy and sort of like an invasion of our privacy, and thankfully the service has reportedly been delayed as Samsung is debating as to whether such a service would actually help them sell more phones, but what do you guys think? Is this a service you would like to have on your phone?

iPhone 6′s Front Cameras Could Be Provided By Sony

iPhone 6s Front Cameras Could Be Provided By SonyFor those unfamiliar with Sony’s work, the company has been instrumental with their efforts in helping Apple’s iPhone achieve great photos, thanks to the company providing CMOS sensors to both the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s’ rear-facing cameras, but what about the front-facing camera? Front-facing cameras have never really gotten much attention as for the most part, they are used to take selfies or to video chat with someone, so as far as photo quality is concerned, it does not necessarily have to be the best of the best. That being said, according to a report from Nikkei, they claim that Apple could be turning to Sony for its front-facing cameras, which at the moment are supplied by OmniVision.

Presumably by going with Sony, Apple is looking to bump the quality of its front-facing cameras up a notch as well, although exactly how big a difference in quality we might expect remains to be seen. This alleged deal is also expected to see Sony raising its production of sensors to 200 million per year just to Apple alone, an increase of 100% from its 100 million sensors per year which the company currently provides to Apple. To help cope with the extra work load, Sony has reportedly acquired a Japanese chip producer to help increase production by 25%.

iPhone 6 Could Feature Bezel-Free Display

iPhone 6 Could Feature Bezel Free DisplayAccording to the latest rumors, Apple will not be using sapphire for its iPhone 6 after all as the material will apparently be used for the rumored iWatch instead, and with that being said, what can we expect from the iPhone 6 in terms of display then? According to The Korea Herald, it seems that come the iPhone 6, we can look forward to the device sporting a bezel-free display which you can see in the mockup above. By removing the bezels on the side of the iPhone, it will allow Apple to create a device with a larger display, but at the same time will not be too big and could still be used with one hand.

We have seen Apple attempt to move away from bezels with the iPad mini where the bezels were noticeably thinner, and the iPad Air whose bezels were reduced significantly compared to its predecessors. Based on this, we wouldn’t be surprised if Apple did the same with the iPhone 6, or at least had plans to do something like that. We have also seen Android OEMs attempt to create devices with thin bezels as well as it helps create the illusion of a larger phone without the added bulk, but will Apple be the first smartphone manufacturer to truly achieve a bezel-free look? We guess we will have to wait and see, but until then take it with a grain of salt for now.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Could Sport Three-Sided Display

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Could Sport Three Sided DisplayThe Samsung Galaxy S5 has yet to hit the market, let alone been announced, but it seems that rumors of a Galaxy Note 4 have begun to surface. According to the rumors from the Korean media, word on the street has it that Samsung could be launching the Galaxy Note 4 which a three-sided display. If you’re wondering what that looks like, it’s basically a screen that will wrap around the edges of the phone (as pictured above), essentially putting the display on the edges as well as on the front of the device at the same time. It is an interesting concept and in the past we’ve seen how these side-screens can be used for different tasks, such as media player controls and such.

Interestingly enough, the report also claims that Samsung will be testing the waters with the Galaxy Note 4 and will only manufacture about a million units. We’re not sure why Samsung would do that given that the Galaxy Note series has typically been well-received, but then again given that the Galaxy Round wasn’t exactly a stellar success, perhaps Samsung has decided to err on the side of caution. It will be interesting to see if the Galaxy Note 4 will indeed feature this alleged three-sided display as not only would it make it an interesting design, but would provide us a new and unique way of interacting with our devices, but until then take it with a grain of salt.

ZTE Nubia Z7 Rumored For March/April Announcement

ZTE Nubia Z7 Rumored For March/April AnnouncementThe ZTE Nubia Z7 is a handset that we learned about back in January of 2013. Oddly enough ZTE has not announced the device, leaving us to wonder about its fate. Is it cancelled? Is it put on hold? Well according to the latest rumors, it seems that ZTE has been quietly reworking the device and could announce it in the next month or so. This is according to Chinese website, CNMO, who claims that ZTE could announce the Nubia Z7 in March or April, which we have to say is a little odd given that MWC 2014 is around the corner and it would have been a great platform for ZTE to make their announcement.

Then again perhaps the device is still not ready to be shown off yet which could explain the delay. In any case according to the rumor, the Nubia Z7 is said to feature a 6.44-inch display which is the same size as the Sony Xperia Z Ultra for those who want a little bit of context. It is also expected to feature a new user interface, a more minimalist and flatter one and will apparently run on Android 4.4 KitKat. It is also rumored to pack a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset clocked at 2.3GHz and 128GB of onboard storage. Either way we’re not sure what took ZTE so long to come to the market with the Nubia Z7, but take it with a grain of salt for now and hopefully we will learn more soon.

TSMC To Work On iPhone 6′s Touch ID Sensor [Rumor]

TSMC To Work On iPhone 6s Touch ID Sensor [Rumor]Touch ID was one of the new features that was introduced with the iPhone 5s and we can only assume that Apple will be bringing that feature to the iPhone 6. That being said, will Apple be making any changes or improvements to Touch ID for the iPhone 6? We guess we will just have to wait and find out, but thanks to a new report from DigiTimes, they are claiming that Apple will be turning to the 8-inch processing for the iPhone 6 versus the 12-inch fabrication process which apparently Apple was a little concerned over in terms of yield rates.

“Apple previously decided to have TSMC produce fingerprint sensors for its next-generation iPhone at the foundry’s 12-inch facilities using a 65nm process, the sources noted. However, acknowledging risks associated with 12-inch WLP technologies, Apple has finally chosen TSMC’s 8-inch processing which enables mature yield rates for WLP to produce the fingerprint sensors, the sources said.” So what does this mean for the end user? Well as you might recall, iPhone 5s units were in short supply when they were first released and this was apparently due to the Touch ID’s production. So with the kinks ironed out and with a more refined processed being used, perhaps iPhone 6 supply will be better than that of the iPhone 5s.

LG G2 Mini Might Be Bluetooth Certified

LG G2 Mini Might Be Bluetooth CertifiedDo you feel as though it is compulsory these days for companies to roll out a “mini” version of a current device? For instance, the folks over at Samsung has the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini, while HTC has their HTC One Mini, with Sony jumping aboard the bandwagon with their Sony Xperia Z1 Compact. This leads to the question – what about LG? I guess LG is not too far away from releasing a “mini” model from their collection of smartphones, with whispers of the LG G2 Mini making its rounds since last December.
