LTE Nexus 7 Coming To Verizon Next Week [Rumor]

LTE Nexus 7 Coming To Verizon Next Week [Rumor]The Nexus 7 tablet was launched more than half a year ago, which makes it by technological standards relatively “old”. However the tablet is a decent one with pretty decent hardware specs, not to mention its affordable price tag makes it a great purchase for someone who is shopping on a budget but wants the best value for their money. That being said, we’re sure some of you guys are looking forward to the LTE model as well, which is why the good news is that according to the folks at Droid-Life, they claim that according to their sources, the LTE model for Verizon could go on sale as soon as next week, starting on the 13th of February.

Now a LTE Nexus 7 for Verizon is not exactly a secret. In fact Verizon it was as long ago as last year that Verizon promised that a Nexus 7 with LTE would be making its way onto its network. However due to certification issues, the Nexus 7 for Verizon was a no-show. However assuming Droid-Life’s sources are right on the money, perhaps Verizon might have sorted out whatever certification problem they were facing and could be getting ready to launch the tablet on their network. Either way try not to get your hopes up just yet, but we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more info, so check back with us next week to see if there are any details to be had.

Alleged Canon G1 X II Photo Leaked

Alleged Canon G1 X II Photo LeakedAccording to the rumors, Canon is set to announce the successor of the G1 X in the form of the Canon G1 X Mark II (or G1 X II which is what the rumors are referring to it at the moment) on the 12th of February. This is to be expected considering that the G1 X was launched nearly two years ago, making it ripe for an update. Now thanks to the folks at Canon Rumors, the image you are looking at above could be the first image we are seeing of the camera ahead of its announcement. The specs of the camera remain a rumor for now since Canon has yet to make an official announcement, so do take it with a grain of salt for now.

For starters it seems that we can expect the G1 X II to share similar specs to the G1 X. The camera is rumored to feature a 20.2MP 1.5-inch CMOS sensor and a 24-120mm lens with an aperture of f/2.0-3.9. It will also come with a 3-inch LCD touchscreen display and will be slimmer and slightly lighter than its predecessor. According to Canon Rumors, the photo above shows the camera with an external viewfinder. The camera will also be powered by Canon’s DIGIC 6 image processor. Pricing is unknown officially but it has been estimated to cost around $700. We expect all the official details will be made available on he 12th of February if there really is an announcement to be had, so be sure to check back with us then for the details.

    Unnamed Huawei Phablet Gets Pictured

Unnamed Huawei Phablet Gets PicturedAccording to the rumors, Huawei is set to launch their phablet at MWC 2014, although at the moment the name of the phablet has yet to be determined, but thanks to a recent photo that was leaked onto the internet, we are able to get an idea of what it might look like and boy is that thing huge! According to the source who leaked the photo, they claim that the device pictured is not a tablet (Huawei has also been rumored to be developing a tablet to rival the Nexus 7), but rather a phablet made by Huawei and as you can see, it not only dwarves the iPhone, but the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 as well!

In terms of specs, it has been rumored that it will feature a 7-inch display with a 1920×1200 resolution. It is also rumored to be powered by a Hisilicon V9R1 chipset clocked at 1.6GHz, 2GB of RAM, a 13MP rear-facing camera, and oddly enough runs on Android 4.2.2, although we would have preferred at least Android 4.3 or ideally, Android 4.4 KitKat. We’re not sure if 7-inch is considered a phablet anymore as it does enter into tablet territory, but we have seen devices like the Sony Xperia Z Ultra and the more recent 6.8-inch Hisense X1 that blurs the lines. In any case hopefully more will be revealed at MWC 2014, but in the meantime what do you guys think? Is 7-inches a little too big for a phone?

Canon G1 X Successor Could Be Announced On 12th Feb

Canon G1 X Successor Could Be Announced On 12th FebIf you liked what you saw in the Canon G1 X, chances are you might anticipating its successor, the rumored Canon G1 X Mark II which will presumably come with upgraded specs, making the camera more powerful than ever. Well for those wondering when the camera will be announced, word on the street has it that Canon is expected to unveil the G1 X Mark II come 12th February which is a day earlier than CP+ is held, or it could be due to the time difference that the 12th of February in the US would be the 13th of February in Japan where the event will be held, but either way we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more info.

Based on what we know about the camera so far, at least based on rumored specs, the G1 X Mark II is expected to share somewhat similar features to the G1 X, with the main difference being its lens. The lens of the G1 X Mark II is rumored to be slightly longer at 24-120mm and will sport an aperture of f/2.8-5.8. The camera will also come with a 20.2MP 1.5-inch CMOS sensor, a “real image” optical zoom viewfinder, and a 3-inch LCD touchscreen display. Pricing of the camera has not been revealed either but we can only assume that Canon will probably price it close to that of the Canon G1 X. We expect that details such as availability will also be unveiled on the 12th of February, so do check back with us then for the details.

Apple Might Have Enough Sapphire To Make 100-200m Displays For 2014

Apple Might Have Enough Sapphire To Make 100 200m Displays For 2014Apple has plans for sapphire, although what exactly those plans are remains to be seen. As it stands sapphire is used in the lens cover for the iPhone and also the cover for the Touch ID fingerprint sensor found in the iPhone 5s, but according to recent rumors, Apple could be thinking about incorporating sapphire into its displays as well. The recent push to open a sapphire plant in Arizona seems to support that theory and if you were hoping that Apple would use sapphire in a bigger way, such as in displays, you could be getting your wish. iOS 7.1 Could See March Release [Rumor]

iOS 7.1 Could See March Release [Rumor]iOS 7.1 has been in the works for quite a while now. The update is expected to introduce a host of new changes and redesign to the operating system, and it was just recently that Apple released the iOS 7.1 beta 5 to developers. Well the good news is that for those looking forward to the update is that apparently beta 5 will be the last beta that will be seeded to developers, and that the next release will be for the public. This information comes from the folks at BGR who claims that their sources informed them beta 5 will be the last beta and that iOS users can look forward to the public release sometime in March, although no specific dates were mentioned.

However BGR thinks that the March date is a bit too “far” for their liking and that they expect a GM build to be released much sooner. Either way iOS 7.1 will introduce a fair amount of changes to the platform. According to BGR, they state that iOS 7.1 feels more “cohesive” and more “thought out”. Earlier screenshots of the operating system have revealed that there will be redesigns introduced to the platform, such as to its keyboard as one of the examples. While the upcoming release of iOS 7.1 is probably something to look forward to, those who jailbroke their devices might not be so eager to update as beta 5 had reportedly closed additional exploits used by jailbreakers. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but hopefully we will hear more about a possible release soon.

Galaxy S5′s Fingerprint Sensor Is Developed In-House [Rumor]

Galaxy S5s Fingerprint Sensor Is Developed In House [Rumor]Will the Samsung Galaxy S5 feature a fingerprint sensor like the iPhone 5s? Well if the rumors are to be believed, the answer is yes. However instead of turning to third-party manufacturers to provide them with the fingerprint sensor technology, word on the street has it that Samsung could be looking to produce their own fingerprint sensors rather than outsourcing the job. We’re not sure if this decision was recently made, or if the information was recently made available, because if it is due to the former, we’re sure as heck hoping that it will not affect the release date of the handset in any way.

In any case the rumors claim that the fingerprint sensor developed by Samsung will be of the swiping variety, as opposed to Apple’s TouchID where the finger/thumb is left on the sensor to be detected rather than swiped through. We’re not sure if this sensor will be better than the iPhone 5s’ TouchID which has proven to be rather effective, but it will definitely be a feature worth looking forward to. Should you get your hopes up for a fingerprint sensor? Well back in 2013, it was rumored that the Galaxy Note 3 would come with a fingerprint sensor but apparently it was scrapped due to it not passing Samsung’s QC, so here’s hoping that we will see it in the Galaxy S5. Until we hear the official word, do take it with a grain of salt for now.

Samsung SM-W750V Might Feature 720p Display, Not 1080p

Samsung SM W750V Might Feature 720p Display, Not 1080pWord on the street has it that Samsung has a new Windows Phone in the works called the “Huron”, also known by its model number SM-W750V. We recently saw the device in a leaked photo and while it had originally been speculated that the handset would feature a Full HD 1080p display, newly leaked benchmark results have suggested that it would be come with a 720p HD display instead. This is according to the benchmark results from GFXBench where it revealed that the Samsung SM-W750V would come with a 1280×720 resolution, instead of 1920×1080.

However it seems that there is also some dispute between the actual size of the display. Some are claiming the handset will sport a 4.3-inch display, while others claim that it will come with a 5-inch display. While there’s absolutely nothing wrong with a 720p HD display, the fact of the matter is that Full HD is more or less the standard these days and we’re sure that customers would much prefer a higher resolution. However if Samsung’s goal is to create a budget and affordable Windows Phone handset, taking the 720p HD route would make sense. In any case hopefully we will hear more about the Samsung SM-W750V soon, so until then take it with a grain of salt, but are any of our readers out there disappointed by the 720p HD display?
