Sony VAIO Brand Rumored To Be Sold To Japanese Investment Firm

Sony VAIO Brand Rumored To Be Sold To Japanese Investment FirmAre they selling? Are they not selling? Well a couple of days ago we heard the rumors that Sony might be looking to sell off their VAIO PC division to Lenovo. This rumor has since been denied by Sony, but at the same time did not deny that they could still be on the lookout for potential buyers, although in this case not necessarily Lenovo. Well according to a recent report from Nikkei, it was suggested that Sony could be selling off their VAIO division to a Japanese investment fund instead, Japan Industrial Partners.

The sale, estimated to be between $391 million to $489 million, will allow Sony to keep a small stake in the VAIO brand and continue to operate it in select markets where the VAIO brand is well-known. However as for Japan, it is said that the VAIO brand will turn its focus towards business users, rather than your average consumer. The deal is far from done and it is expected to become official by the end of March. Naturally Sony has not confirmed this deal yet so do take it with a grain of salt for now, but what do you guys think? Will you be sad to see the Sony VAIO brand disappear?

iPhone 6 Rumored To Feature Upgraded Camera

iPhone 6 Rumored To Feature Upgraded CameraAccording to alleged leaked specifications the other day, the iPhone 6 is said to feature an 8MP rear-facing camera and a 3.2MP front-facing camera, essentially keeping the same camera specs as the iPhone 5s. Admittedly that’s not a bad thing as Apple’s iPhone cameras are pretty good, but at the same time as far as playing the numbers game is concerned, it does not look as good on paper compared to the competition. With that being said, a new report from IT168 claims to have information about the iPhone 6’s camera, and that instead of an 8MP camera, the iPhone 6 is said to feature a 10MP camera.

The camera will also sport a wider aperture at f/1.8 versus f/2.2 which is the aperture at the moment. A wider aperture will allow for faster image capture as well as brighter images under low-light settings. The report also goes on to claim that Apple will be changing the filter used in the camera and will replace the hybrid IR filter with a resin lens filter manufactured by Japanese company, JSR. These new filters are said to be thinner and lighter and can take clearer images due to its ability to minimize the color shifts of CMOS image sensors. If anything this definitely sounds like a welcome upgrade to the iPhone’s camera but given that it is a rumor, do take it with a grain of salt for now.

Police-themed Battlefield Game Could Be In The Works

Police themed Battlefield Game Could Be In The WorksThe Battlefield franchise has seen different iterations throughout its life, but for the most part it has been military themed where the same can be said for its rival, Activision’s Call of Duty. That being said, EA has been receiving a fair amount of flak recently over the bugs in Battlefield 4 which proved to be a headache for gamers trying to play, but assuming EA really does learn from its lessons, would you still be interested in future Battlefield titles? And would you be more interested if it departed from its military theme and went with something else instead?

According to a report from Polygon, EA has been laying off some of their staff from Ghost Games, and as for full-time employees, they have been given the ultimatum which is to either leave the company with compensation, or stay on to help with development of a Battlefield spin-off developed by Visceral Games that will apparently be police-themed. Unfortunately apart from that little tidbit, not much else is known about this alleged Battlefield spin-off, but what do you guys think? A police-themed Battlefield would definitely be a departure from the military-theme that gamers have gotten used to, and could even prove to be a welcome departure as well, but what say you? Would a police-theme Battlefield game be of interest to you?

Android 4.4.2 For US Cellular Moto X Could Be Released Soon

Android 4.4.2 For US Cellular Moto X Could Be Released SoonLast we heard, Android 4.4.2 is said to be making its way onto T-Mobile’s Moto X in the near future, and if you’re wondering how soon is that, perhaps the next couple of days could be it. This new rumor is according to an anonymous US Cellular representative who claims that the carrier is ready to push out Android 4.4.2 KitKit to its own Moto X handsets in the US. Of course given that this roll out is for US Cellular customers only, we can’t speak for the availability of Android 4.4.2 KitKat for other carriers, but presumably they should be rolling out, at least that’s what the rumors seem to suggest.

Those of you who own a US Cellular Moto X, you will be able to check for the updates by going to your phone’s Settings, About Device, and Check for Updates to scan manually to see if there are any updates to be had. Of course we expect the updates will be rolled out in phases so even if your friend gets theirs first, don’t worry as we expect that yours should not be too far behind. In any case we’ll definitely be keeping our eyes peeled for the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for the US Cellular Moto X, but in the meantime take it with a grain of salt for now and try not to get your hopes up just yet.

New Sony E-mount Cameras Rumored For Announcement Next Week

New Sony E mount Cameras Rumored For Announcement Next WeekConsidering that the Sony NEX-7 was launched back in 2011, safe to say that it is about time that Sony come forward with a new camera that would be the successor of the NEX-7. Now we have heard the rumors that a successor could be in the works which might actually be shipped later this year in April, and now according to a new rumor from Sony Alpha Rumors, perhaps the April shipping date might not be too far-fetched after all. According to their “multiple trusted sources”, they claim that Sony will be holding a press event next week on the 12th of February, Wednesday.

It is unclear as to what the event will entail, but Sony Alpha Rumors believes that the event will be focused on the launch of new mirrorless products, and presumably the NEX-7’s successor will be one of them. For those looking forward to A-mount related cameras, such as the A77, apparently that event will take place in Spring in a separate announcement. In any case do take it with a grain of salt for now as Sony has yet to send out the invites to such an event, but either way for those interested in devices like the NEX-7, be sure to check back with us next Wednesday to see if the rumors pan out!
