LG V510 Tablet Images Leaked

LG V510 Tablet Images LeakedIt was just at the beginning of this month when we brought you speculation surrounding the LG V510, where certain quarters claim that this could very well be the Nexus 8 that is about to be released sometime down the road. Well, @evleaks has dropped another hint recently that the LG V510 tablet could very well be an 8” tablet. If one were to take a step back and cast an eye in the direction of the LG G Pad 8.3 which carries the codename V500, then the V510 might fool folks into thinking that this is a variant of the LG G Pad 8.3, save for the fact that it boasts of LTE connectivity or something similar, but @evleaks claimed otherwise.

Well, an image of the LG V510 has started to make its rounds, with specifications that agree with @evleaks’ assessment – that this will be a Wi-Fi only model, although it will come with different internal coding. There is also a lack of Nexus branding anywhere, while there are mistakes in the manual when it comes to the English language. As to whether this will be the first Nexus 8 to hit the market or not, that remains to be seen. As far as the world is concerned, LG has a new tablet up their sleeves.

Windows 8 Threshold Could Bring Back Full Start Menu Experience [Rumor]

Windows 8 Threshold Could Bring Back Full Start Menu Experience [Rumor]

When Microsoft first introduced Windows 8, it thought it could do away with the beloved “Start” button, which apparently they were wrong as Windows customers showed just how much they missed the button through feedback of the software. Windows 8.1 brought back the Start button, but it still doesn’t offer the traditional Windows Start button experience we’ve all become accustomed to. It looks like Windows 8.2 may finally give us the Start button we’ve all been wanting in Windows 8. (more…)

    LG G2 Mini Rumored

LG G2 Mini RumoredHave you ever wondered as to why certain companies like to roll out a “mini” version of a perfectly fine and working handset? Perhaps it is because they have already done their bit to position the brand of the smartphone in such a way where it might cost even more money to actually start branding a new kind of device, so why not save that dough with some of the work already completed, use a similar looking chassis at a smaller physical form factor with lesser specs, and rely on the same name, except that there is the suffix “mini” behind it? The LG G2 too, might be on the receiving end of the mini treatment, where the display is tipped to be 4.7″ in size.

Come to think of it, 4.7″ is not mini by any means if you were to roll back the clock by a couple of years, heck, it is still bigger than what the iPhone 5s has. It remains to be seen just what kind of resolution will the 4.7″ display carry, although it is widely tipped to arrive with 2GB RAM and a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU. Pundits speculate that it could be unveiled at CES which is all set to kick off in less than a month’s time.

Additional Nokia Lumia 2020 “Illusionist” Rumors Surface

Additional Nokia Lumia 2020 Illusionist Rumors SurfaceA couple of months ago, Nokia unveiled the Lumia 2520, a 10.1” Windows RT tablet, but it wasn’t too long after that announcement that rumors began to circulate that Nokia could have a smaller tablet in the works. Codenamed “Illusionist”, this particular tablet is said to be of the 8.3” variety, and subsequent rumors have suggested that the tablet could be known as the Lumia 2020 and was pegged for a 2014 release.

Recent rumors have surfaced and are now pointing at a device whose model number is the RX-115, which some are speculating to be the Nokia Lumia 2020 “Illusionist”. Not much was known about the Illusionist, apart from its codename and possible product name, but the recent rumor has revealed some of its specs, like how it would sport an 8.3” Full HD 1080p LCD display, as well as come with a SIM card slot for cellular connectivity.

However according to the shipping manifest, the device has been categorized as a cellphone, as opposed to a tablet. Given its size we doubt this is a phablet, but it could simply be that it was labeled as a cellphone for customs purposes. No word on when we might see the Lumia 2020 revealed, but with CES and MWC taking place early next year, perhaps we might learn more then.

Huawei Glory 4 Or Honor 4 Could Be Introduced Next Week

Huawei Glory 4 Or Honor 4 Could Be Introduced Next WeekHuawei, the OEM from China has recently sent out an invitation for an event that will take place this coming December 16th, and when you take into consideration that the word “Honor” has already been printed on the invite itself, one would be hard pressed to think of anything else other than the fact that this would be the event where the Huawei Honor 4 is launched. Just in case you were wondering, the Huawei Honor 4 is also known as the Huawei Glory 4 in other markets. Regardless, a rose by any other name would smell just as sweet, and the Honor 4/Glory 4 will feature MediaTek’s octa-core MT65492 processor.

This celebrated processor claims to run all 8 cores simultaneously, which will be different from Samsung’s octa-core Exynos 5 chip, where the latter relies on big.LITTLE architecture which would allow a group of four cores to run at any one time. Rumored hardware specifications of the Huawei Honor 4 include a 5.5″ display at 720 x 1280 resolution, 2GB RAM, 32GB of internal memory, a 13MP shooter at the back and a 5MP front facing camera, with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean right out of the box. Free, Ad-Supported Spotify For Mobile Rumored To Launch Next Week

Free, Ad Supported Spotify For Mobile Rumored To Launch Next WeekSpotify is probably one of the more popular music streaming services at the moment, and given that they have paid out $1 billion in royalties to date, that would certainly seem to be the case. Well the good news for mobile users is that if you wanted to enjoy Spotify on your phone for free, The Wall Street Journal is reporting that a free version of Spotify will soon be headed onto mobile devices. At the moment Spotify can be streamed for free on desktop computers, with the catch being that there will be ads in between songs. For mobile users, there is a streaming option too although they will require to pay a monthly subscription fee of $9.99.

Assuming this is true, the WSJ reports that the mobile version of Spotify is expected to provide a more personalized experience, sort of like Pandora or iTunes Radio which will try to find songs that you might like. We can only assume that this also means that the free version will come with ads, and that there could be some form of limitation, such as the number of times you can skip a song and so on. The report also claims that Spotify has managed to secure deals with the major record labels like Sony, Universal and Warner, and it could be announced as soon as next week.

Samsung Could Be Looking To Bring Android 4.4 KitKat To Older Devices

Samsung Could Be Looking To Bring Android 4.4 KitKat To Older DevicesWhile the Android 4.4 KitKat update has been designed to support older and lower specced devices, such as those running with 512MB of RAM, it’s odd that Google has decided to not support devices like the Galaxy Nexus, and surprisingly Samsung has decided to try and support older and lower-end devices, like the Galaxy S4 mini, Galaxy S3 mini, Galaxy S Advance, Galaxy Ace 3, Galaxy Core, Galaxy Fame, Galaxy Ace 2, and the Galaxy Fresh. Of course this is by no means a guarantee that they will get the update, but at least Samsung is looking into providing support for it, so we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more info.

It wasn’t too long ago that a memo leaked which showed that higher-end devices like the Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S3, and the Galaxy Note 2 would receive the Android 4.4 KitKat update. In any case no word when the update will roll out for the mid-ranged devices, if Samsung decides to support it, but we suppose it’s still good news nonetheless, although we might suggest against getting your hopes up just yet. In the meantime who else is pleased by this news?

Samsung Rumored To Be Working On 8-inch And 10-inch AMOLED Tablets

Samsung Rumored To Be Working On 8 inch And 10 inch AMOLED TabletsBack in 2011, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Tab 7.7, which according to the South Korea tech giant, is the world’s first tablet to sport a Super AMOLED Plus display. Well if you had a chance to play with the device or if you own it and you like what you see, you might be interested to learn that Samsung could be working on more AMOLED tablets for 2014. According to the Korean media, they are reporting that Samsung is currently working on AMOLED tablets of the 8-inch and 10-inch variety and that they will be launched alongside the Samsung Galaxy S5 which has been rumored for a release in April 2014.

So far Samsung’s tablet efforts haven’t really resulted in high-powered devices, as most of the specs tend to range from low-mid ranged. This is unlike the competition, such as Google and their Nexus tablets, and Amazon with the Kindle Fire HDX, both of which feature some pretty decent specs and displays. However it seems that Samsung’s AMOLED displays are only reserved for the high-end tablets, so if the rumors are true, we could be looking at some pretty decent tablet hardware from Samsung come 2014. The mass production of these tablets are expected to begin in 2014, so be sure to check back with us then for the details!
