Mac Pro Could Be Getting Ready For Production, According To Recent Flextronics Hirings

Mac Pro Could Be Getting Ready For Production, According To Recent Flextronics HiringsEarlier this year during WWDC 2013, Apple took the wraps off their new Mac Pro which features brand new hardware along with a rather interesting design that is a pretty obvious departure from the previous generation Mac Pros. The next question we’re sure some of you guys are asking is when will the computer be released? Apple has given us a “fall” timeframe, and it looks like production could soon be kicking into gear as Flextronics is currently in the process of hiring 1,700 people to work on a “next-generation desktop computer” at their factory in Austin, Texas.

The company declined to reveal what they were working on, but given that the Mac Pro will see assembly in the US, and with Flextronics being Apple’s rumored US manufacturer and with the plant located pretty close to Apple’s local offices, many believe that this recent wave of hiring could be to help Apple begin the manufacturing process of the Mac Pro. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now and don’t get your hopes up just yet, but rumors have pegged the Mac Pro’s release for sometime in November, so to hear Apple and their partners getting ready to begin production and assembly would not be a stretch of the imagination.

Nexus 5 Price Rumored To Be $399 For 16GB Model

Nexus 5 Price Rumored To Be $399 For 16GB ModelJust last week we heard the rumors that the upcoming Nexus 5 could cost customers a rather affordable $299 for the 16GB model, and $399 for the 32GB model. That definitely sounds like good news, but apparently a new rumor has surfaced courtesy of AndroidGeeks where they claim that they are hearing a different price tag. According to the report, the 16GB model of the Nexus 5 is said to cost $399, while the 32GB model will retail for $449, although the good news is that apparently this price is for the entire device itself, contract-free, meaning that you’ll be free to choose your own carrier and not be tied to any contract.

Take it with a grain of salt for now, but if the rumors are to be believed, the Nexus 5 is expected to be unveiled later this month towards the end of October. It is widely believed that the Nexus 5 will sport a 5” Full HD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset with 2GB of RAM, an 8MP camera, and will run on Android 4.4 KitKat. While it is hardly official, a recent video has surfaced walking us through the entire device, so if you can’t wait for the official announcement, hopefully the recent leaks will be able to satisfy you for now.

T-Mobile’s Next Uncarrier Move Might Bring Global Data Service Without Extra Charges

T Mobiles Next Uncarrier Move Might Bring Global Data Service Without Extra Charges

T-Mobile’s uncarrier announcements started off earlier this year, when the carrier decided to shun conventional two year contracts and also decided to allow its subscribers to jump their upgrade cycles. In New York City this evening, Magenta is scheduled to make its third uncarrier announcements. Nothing has been officially revealed about this announcement as yet, other than the fact that Shakira is going to be there. A Facebook fansite for Shakira has posted a teaser image which reveals details about the announcement, whether or not the details are true, is an entirely different story. Its not like an image such as this is hard to fabricate.

As per the image, apparently T-Mobile subscribers’ data plan will essentially have a “passport,” affording them the luxury to have global data coverage in more than 100 countries. What’s enticing about this is the possibility of subscribers not being required to pay any extra charges for this privilege. The teaser image doesn’t mention if data service is going to be capped, which countries are going to be included and what price the subscribers will have to pay in order to get this data passport. We’re looking forward to the T-Mobile uncarrier announcement tonight, international data coverage being announced with an international star, blends together, does it not? [Image via Droidlife]

Analyst Believes Larger 13″ iPad Could Be A Laptop-Hybrid Of Sorts

Analyst Believes Larger 13 iPad Could Be A Laptop Hybrid Of SortsWe have heard rumors about how Apple could be developing a larger iPad, with a rumor earlier this year suggesting a 12.9” display with the device being referred to as the iPad Maxi. It’s not the most elegant name and it was merely a rumor, but now with Apple’s 64-bit A7 chipset reportedly bringing desktop class performance to mobile devices, new rumors have emerged about Apple’s alleged larger iPad. According to Ben A. Reitzes, an analyst at Barclays Capital, he suggests that this larger iPad could actually be more of a laptop rather than a tablet.

Reitzes states that the tablet could either come with a keyboard built-in, similar to Windows 8 laptops that are part tablet part laptop, or they could come with detachable keyboards, similar to what Microsoft is doing with their Surface tablets. According to Reitzes, he believes that this alleged device will pull in more revenue for Apple, could cost $650 and would bring in 35% margins. We have heard of rumors on how future MacBooks could sport touchscreen displays, and we have seen concepts, but nothing at the moment seems to suggest that this is a reality, versus wishful thinking, so take it with a grain of salt for now.

Lenovo Rumored To Buy Out HTC

Lenovo Rumored To Buy Out HTCDespite HTC’s chairwoman, Cher Wang, coming forward and refuting rumors of the company selling out, new rumors have surfaced suggesting that Lenovo could be the company that will buy out HTC. The rumor comes about as HTC has recently posted an operating loss of $101 million, making it the company’s first in over a decade, and that because of that (amongst other reasons), HTC and Lenovo’s top executives have begun to meet with each other, dating as far back in August, about a possible buy out.

Given that Lenovo has already taken over IBM’s ThinkPad division, we guess acquiring new companies would not be a stretch of the imagination. Not to mention Lenovo is a pretty well-respected company amongst Chinese manufacturers, so for them to takeover HTC would not be such a bad thing. In any case this rumor is a bit odd given that HTC has flat out denied such a possibility only a day ago, so take it with a grain of salt for now, and hopefully either HTC or Lenovo will come forward with an official statement refuting the matter, or their silence could basically be a form of implicit acknowledgement. What do you guys think? If Lenovo were to takeover HTC, would they have better luck in the smartphone market?

Apple To Hold iPad Event This October 22nd

Apple To Hold iPad Event This October 22ndThe folks over at Apple still have some tricks up their sleeves, that is, more products to be announced before the year comes to an end. In fact, we now have confirmation that Apple will be unveiling a couple more products this month on October 22nd itself. Folks who are familiar with the plans concocted over in Cupertino have informed AllThingsD that Apple is scheduled to hold its next invitation-only event on Tuesday, October 22nd. The main focus of this gathering would be to introduce a new iPad, although it is also very likely that the new Mac Pro as well as OS X Mavericks will be featured on the stage, too

Just what kind of hardware will the fifth-generation iPad bring to the table? Well, for starters, it is tipped to arrive in a thinner as well as lighter design which will not be too far off from the iPad mini, in addition to an improved camera, of course. It is also tipped that Apple’s new 64-bit A7 chip will be made available underneath the hood, and there will also be a second-generation iPad mini in tow that will sport an upgraded Retina Display, alongside with the probability of the A7 chip incorporated as well. Will there be a fingerprint sensor integrated within? Nothing concrete has been decided just yet, but it would not be too long before everyone finds out!
