Xiaomi Could Debut A Smartwatch Of Their Own In The Future

Xiaomi Could Debut A Smartwatch Of Their Own In The FutureThese days we are starting to see smartwatches become the norm to the point where even kids versions of such devices have been created. Now word on the street has it that Chinese company, Xiaomi, has their own smartwatch in the works that could be made by Millet. Naturally Xiaomi has yet to make an official announcement of sorts, but the rumors are suggesting that smartwatch could be made by the Millet company, and could see a price tag that is significantly lower than other smartwatches available in the market today. As it stands the Pebble smartwatch is being sold for $150, while the Samsung Galaxy Gear is priced at a more expensive $299.

Based on those prices it is unclear as to what “significantly lower” could mean, but basically we’re taking it to mean that it will be affordable. As far as hardware specifications are concerned, not much is known about the device for now but it is expected to run on the same MIUI interface that has been preinstalled on other Xiaomi devices in the past. In any case what do you guys think? Are smartwaches the next big thing, or are companies simply capitalizing on the hype and trend?

Samsung Could Be Looking To Waterproof Future Smartphones

Samsung Could Be Looking To Waterproof Future SmartphonesWaterproof devices seem to be the “in” thing this year, what with the Sony Xperia Z and Xperia Z1 both featuring waterproof capabilities, and the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active which offered up similar protection as well. Granted such devices might have a niche audience, as in those who require such durability and protection, but it seems that such devices have been selling well enough for Samsung to consider rolling out more similar devices in the future. This is according to a report from South Korea who claims that there has been a favorable respond to the Galaxy S4 Active and that Samsung is now considering more waterproof devices, and that a Galaxy Note 3 variant might be one of them.

It is also possible that Samsung could do away with the waterproof variants and just add such protection to future phones and that it could start with 2014’s Galaxy S5. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but what do you guys think? Would you like to see more phones in the future come with waterproofing as a default feature? Or would you rather companies not compromise on power and design just for the sake of waterproofing their products?

Microsoft Approached Samsung And Huawei About Dual-Booting Windows Phone/Android Devices [Rumor]

Microsoft Approached Samsung And Huawei About Dual Booting Windows Phone/Android Devices [Rumor]The other day it was rumored that Microsoft had asked HTC to consider whether they would be willing to create a dual-booting device that would run both Android and Windows Phone at the same time. It was an interesting idea and it seems that HTC was not the only ones Microsoft had approached. According to new reports, Microsoft has approached their other Windows Phone OEMs such as Samsung and Huawei, asking them to if they too would be willing to create a dual-booting device. To make things even sweeter, Microsoft is allegedly offering Windows Phone for free to the manufacturers, as in they are willing to drop the licensing fees, as well as pay for what adaptation costs they might incur along the way.

This offer extends not just to Windows Phone devices, but Windows RT as well. As it stands it seems that Samsung already has a dual-booting device called the Galaxy Tab 2014 Edition that runs both Android and Windows RT at the same time, so for OEMs to create devices like this would not be a stretch of the imagination. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but do you think OEMs such as Samsung and Huawei would be interested in this deal?

iPad 5 Release Date, News and Rumored Specs

iPad 5 Release Date, News and Rumored Specs

Without fail for the past few years, Apple has unveiled a new iPad, although the anomaly was back in 2012 where Apple not just one, but two iPads, along with the first ever iPad mini. What this means is that the timetable for the fifth-gen iPad has been shifted from early 2013 to late 2014.

Apple has yet to send out invites to their event, but the rumors are pointing at a possible 15th of October in which Apple will announce their new fifth-gen iPad and the iPad mini 2. With that being said, we have come across our fair share of leaks, rumors, and alleged specifications of the upcoming tablet, so without further ado, here is what we know of the fifth-gen iPad to date.

However readers should be warned that this is more of a compilation of the rumored specs and images, as opposed to official information, so take everything you read in the following article with a grain of salt. (more…)

Samsung Galaxy Note Mini Reportedly Being Tested In India

Samsung Galaxy Note Mini Reportedly Being Tested In IndiaSometimes, it pays to look out for tiny small details in life, as it is more often than not these little details which have been overlooked that have proven to be the downfall for many. On a far more positive note, sniffing out little details will also allow one to come to some pre-conceived conclusions based on existing information, such as the latest snippets from Zauba. Zauba happens to be a website which will keep track of imports as well as exports to and from India, where according to the site, there has been a shipment from Delhi Air Cargo that sported a pair of mobile devices, and these featured the model number SM-P601.

It might sound close to the SM-N601 that we talked about sometime at the end of last month, where that was speculated to be a Galaxy Tab 10” successor. This particular information gleaned from such a document this time around seemed to point to a smaller version of an existing model, which would mean speculation abounds as to whether it is a new Galaxy Note Mini tablet or not. After all, do you think that any device with a 5.25” display can be deemed as “Mini”? I suppose when the “parent” device comes with a 10” display, that would be justified.

Hopefully, additional light on the SM-P601 will be shed in due time, and we simply cannot wait for that to happen.

HTC One Max May Include Fingerprint Scanner [Rumor]

HTC One Max May Include Fingerprint Scanner [Rumor]

When Apple introduced its iPhone 5S, they certainly made a bold statement by including a fingerprint scanner on their smartphone as a way to make it more secure from those who shouldn’t be using the device. Now it looks like other smartphone manufacturers might be following suit as HTC is rumored to be including a fingerprint scanner onto their HTC One Max.

The rumor of the HTC One Max possibly featuring a fingerprint scanner is originating from some newly leaked images of the device that suggests a scanner might be included onto the upcoming phablet. The leaked images popped up on Chinese social network Sina Weibo and show the HTC One Max’s back is removed to show what appears to be a fingerprint scanner sitting between the SIM slot and camera module.

If this rumor turns out to be true, it’d be interested to see why HTC decided to include the fingerprint scanner at the rear of the device underneath the camera. This would lead us to believe HTC wouldn’t be looking to scan the thumbs of its users, instead opting to go for a forefinger scanner, which we’re hoping would be easy to access or it could make reading them a real chore.

Nexus 5 Rumored For End Of October Launch

Nexus 5 Rumored For End Of October LaunchWe’ve been hearing rumors about the upcoming Google Nexus 5 handset, with the device allegedly caught on camera, giving us a better look at it, assuming the photo is real, of course. We have also heard how the handset could see a launch in October, although at this point in time no specific dates have been mentioned, but according to the folks over at Tech Radar, they claim to have received a tip from one of their sources who alleges that the Google Nexus 5 will see an announcement towards the last week of October, and will apparently start shipping around that time as well.

However it should be noted that their source was referring to shipping times for the UK, but given that phones launched in the US typically see similar release dates in the UK as well, it is possible that the same shipping dates can be applied as well. As it stands the rumors are saying that the Nexus 5 will sport a 5” Full HD display with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset under the hood, run on Android 4.4 KitKat, and according to the latest rumor, will feature a rather interesting camera that allows the photographer to shoot first, and focus later. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but we’ll definitely be keeping our eyes peeled.
