BlackBerry Still Has At Least Four More Devices In The Works [Rumor]

BlackBerry Still Has At Least Four More Devices In The Works [Rumor]With reports about BlackBerry laying off staff and pushing for a sale of the company which they hope will conclude in November this year, it does seem that BlackBerry is on the verge of dying, or is it? No doubt the company is struggling a bit at the moment, but according to a report from the folks at N4BB, it seems that the death of the company might have been greatly exaggerated. According to their sources, BlackBerry still has a couple of tricks up their sleeves in the form of at least four new devices that they plan to launch.

The devices have been given the codenames Cafe/Cappuccino, Windermere, Tigris, and Ontario. Presumably this is in addition to the recently launched BlackBerry Z30, which had been previously given the codename “Aristo”. There’s no telling when BlackBerry will launch said devices, but we’ll definitely be keeping our eyes peeled for more info. What do you guys think? What should these allegedly devices have that will keep customers interested and bring in new BlackBerry users as well? The phablet has been attempted in the form of the Z30, so hopefully these upcoming devices will be just as appealing as well.

Nexus 5 Launch Date Tipped For October Again [Rumor]

Nexus 5 Launch Date Tipped For October Again [Rumor]We have been hearing a fair bit about the next-gen Nexus, which has been tipped to be known as the Nexus 5. In fact it was just the other day benchmarks of the device have been spotted which was followed by a press rendering of the handset. Now the question we’re sure many are wondering when will the device be announced? According to a previous rumor, the handset could be due for a 14th of October announcement (which if true would make it a day before Apple allegedly unveils their new iPads), and now a report from DigiTimes has “confirmed” the October timeframe as well.

DigiTimes’ report does not reveal anything new, but rather reaffirms the release date, as well as the fact that both Google and LG will be working on the Nexus 5 again, which we guess many of you guys probably are aware of already. The handset is expected to be loosely based on the Nexus 5 with the leaked benchmarks revealing a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset and a 5” Full HD display, making this Nexus device a pretty powerful one. In any case we’ll keep our eyes peeled for an announcement of sorts from Google, so stay tuned and check back with us for more updates!

Next-Gen iPads And iPhones To Feature More Sapphire Crystal [Rumor]

Next Gen iPads And iPhones To Feature More Sapphire Crystal [Rumor]According to the rumors, Apple could be set to announce their next-gen iPads come 15th of October. So far we’ve seen the alleged leaked shells of the next-gen iPad and next-gen iPad mini, with the iPad sporting a similar design to the iPad mini which would make its bezels thinner, but make the overall device thinner and smaller as well, at least compared to its predecessors. However now thanks to a new report from DigiTimes, it has been reported that Apple will introduce a sapphire crystal home button on the next-gen iPads as well. (more…)

Alleged Sony Full-Frame NEX Specs Revealed

Alleged Sony Full Frame NEX Specs RevealedSo we have been hearing rumors that Sony could be announcing their new full-frame NEX camera in the next month or so, with the company allegedly sending out invites to camera retailers, asking them to attend an event in which something big will be shown off, presumably a full-frame NEX device. However the specifications of the camera remain unknown, with its full-frame being the only feature we know of, but according to the folks at Sony Alpha Rumors, they have been tipped off on the alleged specs of the upcoming device. Since this is not official information, it is suggested that you take it with a grain of salt for now.

According to their source, the design of the camera is said to be similar to the NEX-7 except that it will be about 15% bigger and 20% more heavier, which isn’t always a bad thing. It will sport 1,400 focus points, improved metering, and will shoot at 1/4000s. It will also come in 3, 5, 8, and 12 fps modes, a 3” display, WiFi connectivity, and a new chip. It is unclear as to whether Sony will be going with a 24, 32, or 36MP sensor but apparently the best results were achieved with the 32MP one. Like we said take it with a grain of salt for now, but if true, this full-frame NEX device is shaping up to be pretty awesome.

Microsoft Allegedly Pushing Nokia To Cancel Its ‘Sirius’ Tablet

Microsoft Allegedly Pushing Nokia To Cancel Its Sirius Tablet

Microsoft has already announced that it is acquiring Nokia’s core phone business for more than $7 billion. The deal hasn’t actually been closed as yet, its expected to take more than a couple of months. Eldar Murtazin, who predicted over two years ago that Nokia will sell its core business to Microsoft, claimed in a series of tweets that Redmond is apparently pushing Nokia to cancel a few of its upcoming products, one of which is the Windows RT tablet codenamed “Sirius.”

Murtazin says that Microsoft telling Nokia what to do at this point in time is like it acting like it “already own the company.” It should be noted though that there’s absolutely no confirmation that Nokia is indeed being pressurized to stop its tablet from ever coming out even though the business isn’t technically under Microsoft right now, this is a rumor from one source and should be treated that way. Murtazin also claims that Microsoft wants half of the budget Asha touchscreen phones to be stopped as well. There has been no official comment from either Microsoft or Nokia on these rumors. Nokia’s “Sirius” tablet has been making the rounds online quite a bit, the company is expected to launch it in the coming months.

Sony Working On Xperia Z2 For CES 2014? [Rumor]

Sony Working On Xperia Z2 For CES 2014? [Rumor]

Just a couple of weeks ago at IFA 2013 in Berlin, Sony took the wraps off the Xperia Z1. The device was essentially an upgraded version of the Xperia Z1, although one of the key features of the phone would be its 20MP camera and lens which would allow it to compete against the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom and the Nokia Lumia 1020. Interestingly enough it seems that thanks to a leaked image, it has been suggested that Sony could already be working on the Sony Xperia Z2 handset, and according to the leaker, the Xperia Z2 could even make its debut at CES 2014 which is odd given that the handset was only just revealed.

Of course since this image hardly confirms anything and could easily be a fake for all we know, do take it with a grain of salt for now. However for those interested in the device, the rumors are saying that the Xperia Z2 would sport a much thinner body compared to its predecessor (which is pretty thin as it is), a 5.2” 500PPI display, a quad-core Snapdragon 800 chipset with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and a 20.7MP camera. It sounds like it could be quite a powerful device but what do you guys think? Is the image above a fake or do you think Sony could already be prepping the Xperia Z2?

HTC Sense 5.5 User Interface Rumored To Have Leaked

HTC Sense 5.5 User Interface Rumored To Have LeakedAnother day, another leak. The folks over at China seem to be getting better and better at obtaining leaks of upcoming hardware, although this time around, it would have something to do with software that is on the way out. What you see above is an alleged HTC Sense 5.5 user interface leak, courtesy of Weibo from China. The screenshot of the user interface does point to a number of significant changes compared to the existing version of Sense UI, and I would say that the color scheme is what stands out the most from the rest of the visual changes. One would be able to notice the lighter background colors as well as several icons undergoing a redesign, making us wonder whether HTC Sense 5.5 is meant to go up against iOS 7.

Not only that, it does seem as though there will be a new email and music widget on its way which if true, will introduce additional versatility of the user interface. The smartphone depicted in the alleged leaked image could either be the HTC Butterfly or the Butterfly S, and assuming that is true, then the HTC Sense 5.5 user interface ought to be making its way to older generation devices.

Nexus 5 With Android 4.4 KitKat Rumored For 15th October Launch

Nexus 5 With Android 4.4 KitKat Rumored For 15th October LaunchWhen Google unveiled the Android 4.4 KitKat statue, the highlight was not the giant chocolate statue, but rather the fact that a mysterious device was caught on video. The device featured the Nexus branding on the back and many speculated that this could be the upcoming Nexus 5 handset, and thanks to various leaks and FCC filings, the device is becoming all too real, and now according to reports, word on the street has it that the Nexus 5 could be announced on the 14th of October and would be running (obviously) on Android 4.4 KitKat.

Given that the Google Nexus 4 handset was launched last year in October, it wouldn’t be out of the question that the Nexus 5 could see an October launch date as well. The fact that the FCC filings seem to point at the fact that the handset is good to go, an October launch seems pretty likely. Unfortunately at this point in time there is no evidence to corroborate the 14th of October launch date besides a rumor, so take it with a grain of salt for now, but at the same time for Nexus fans, the 14th of October is probably a date you’ll want to mark on your calendars, but do check back with us at a later date for additional details.

Samsung Rumored To Be Working On Galaxy Gear 2

Samsung Rumored To Be Working On Galaxy Gear 2It was only a couple of weeks ago that Samsung took the wraps off the Galaxy Gear smartwatch, and we know that Samsung has plans for future Galaxy Gear variants, but is it too soon to start working on a new one? After all the device has yet to go up for sale, but word on the street has it that Samsung is already working on a successor to the Galaxy Gear that will essentially be a revamped version of the Galaxy Gear. In fact it seems that the reports believe that the revamped Galaxy Gear could even be launched in the first quarter of 2014! If that is true CES 2014 and MWC 2014 could be good places to launch it. Sony Reportedly Sending Invites To Retailers For Full-Frame NEX Announcement

Sony Reportedly Sending Invites To Retailers For Full Frame NEX AnnouncementEarlier today it was rumored that Sony could unveil their full-frame NEX camera at PhotoPlus 2013 which will be taking place in October, and now Sony Alpha Rumors has followed up with additional details, claiming that they have received a bunch of emails from big and small retailers informing them that Sony has sent out invites to them to attend an event where Sony will show them something “big”. Naturally Sony did not reveal what it was specifically they would be sharing, but it has been speculated that it could be a Sony full-frame NEX camera, possibly the NEX-9 which has been rumored about in the past.

According to the invitation, the event will be held on varying days ranging from the 14th of October to the 18th of October. We’re not sure what’s with the varied dates but one retailer claims that his invite was set for the 18th of October. In any case we’ll definitely be keeping our eyes peeled and according to Sony Alpha Rumors, this is probably the first time that even smaller camera retailers have been invited to such an event, so it looks like Sony has definitely something worth sharing!
