Timeless Box Keeps Presents a Mystery

The Timeless Box is a gadget designed to help you keep your gifts a mysterious secret until it’s time to open them. It is basically a timed safe for gifts. Because let’s face it, we all love to snoop and try to figure out what our gifts are, ruining our own surprise.
timeless 620x348magnify

This safe prevents such holiday crimes and keeps presents and other stuff hidden away from prying eyes and hands. The gift stays a secret and now you can be properly surprised, or disapointed on Christmas morning. Once the gift is placed inside the safe, you enter the date that it will be given. It stays shut until then.

The Timeless Box is seeking funding on Indiegogo. A minimum pledge of €76 (~$104 USD) will get you one of your very own. Unfortunately, it won’t be ready until February 2014, so assuming it gets funded, you’ll have to wait until next year to use it. Also, it only holds small presents, so it’s not like you could hide a PS4 or an Xbox One inside of it.

Stor-More Key Safe announced

Scientific studies have shown that words tend to be a whole lot easier for one’s brain to remember compared to numbers (which explains why it can be rather difficult in figuring out just what our passwords to the numerous online accounts that we own are, especially if they come in the form of numerics only), and obviously one does not need to go through an expensively funded scientific study to arrive at the conclusion that leaving one’s house, car and work keys under the doormat is a foolhardy and unsafe idea – especially in this day and age. This is the very same reason why WordLock decided to introduce what they call the Stor-More Key Safe, which has been touted to be the most secure, convenient, and reliable manner to stash your keys, garage door openers and other valuables.

Touted to come with the largest storage capacity on the market, the Stor-More Key Safe is capable of hiding away over 30 standard keys, multiple smart auto keys, garage door openers, and credit cards among others. In order to ensure that those valuables remain safe and sound, the Stor-More Key Safe would be accompanied by an easy to set, never forget word combination that has 10,000 possible letter combinations, which is sure to confound even the most determined thief.

WordLock inventor and co-founder Todd Basche said, “When we set out to change the personal security market, there hadn’t been an innovation in lock technology for years. Our car keys are bigger, our house keys are bigger and we all have more of them. When it comes to safely storing these for others to use, the Stor-More Key Safe takes usability and innovation to a whole new level.”

The Stor-More Key Safe boasts of a solid aluminum locking head, hardened steel shackle and stainless steel safe which is more than capable of going up against hammering, sawing and mother nature’s elements.

Full Samsung Knox launch delayed until a ‘later date’

Full launch of Samsung Knox delayed until a 'later date'

The Galaxy S 4 launch was also supposed to mark the release of Knox, Samsung’s plan to balance home life and work through software. Unfortunately, Galaxy owners will have to live slightly off-kilter for a while longer — the company has officially delayed full Knox service to a “later date.” While the GS 4 ships with the necessary underpinnings, both distributors and providers have to fall into place before the suite is completely ready. Samsung hasn’t officially said when it expects Knox to arrive in earnest, although the New York Times claims that it may appear as late as July. Whether or not that’s true, the setback adds to what’s becoming a hitch-prone debut for Samsung’s 2013 Android flagship.

The Medication Safe

It goes without saying that any responsible adult would want to do his or her part to ensure that all medication is kept safe and away, out of reach of little children who are far more intelligent and inquisitive than you give them credit for. Of course, keeping your medication with the rest of your valuables in a safe does not make that much sense, but how about a safe which was purposely built to fulfill such a destiny? This is where the $79.95 Medication Safe comes in handy, where it is small enough to fit into a standard issue medicine cabinet, while ensuring that the rest of your prescription will remain safe and sound.

The Medication Safe comes with an interior that measures 113″ cu., where it can hold up to seven 4″-tall bottles within a steel-fortified ABS/nylon composite case. The safe itself comes with recessed, concealed hinges and a couple of 1/2″-diameter locking steel door bolts so that no unauthorized access will occur. It will open only using biometric security – nah, I am kidding, the Medication Safe opens only with the included key, and since it is less than 4″ deep, it bodes well for unobtrusive storage within a medicine cabinet, drawer, or on a nightstand. Each purchase comes with pre-drilled holes, while the included hardware is sufficient for one to mount the safe to a wall, shelf, or countertop.

ICEdot crash sensor notifies your loved ones after you eat it, tells them where to find you

ICEdot crash sensor notifies your loved ones after bicycling accidents

Between powered gear shifters, electric motors and BMX-mounted mixers, bicycles just keep getting better — but no amount of technological augmentation can sidestep the old adage: safety first. Yes, the helmet is a classic and necessary accessory for cyclists, snowboarders and more. ICEdot and SenseTech hope to take the traditional brain bucket to new heights next year with a Bluetooth equipped crash sensor. Take a spill? The ICEdot sensor will take note of the impact and start a countdown on its companion app. If the rider doesn’t stop the timer before it reaches zero, ICEdot will notify emergency contacts with the user’s last known GPS location and data on the severity of the accident. The accessory doesn’t have a firm release date just yet, but it will make an appearance at the Interbike trade show later this month. Smartphone augmented safety will set you back about $200 when it launches next year. Check out the sensor’s teaser video after the break.

Doctor Who Tardis Smart Safe

There is no where safer to stash away some of your more private (and small) belongings in, wait for it – a safe. There should be enough space in most safes to keep a remnant of your most personal belongings, but with the £29.99 Doctor Who Tardis Smart Safe, the word “space” here is used with a dash of imagination. We are talking about breaking the very fabric of time and space, assuming the principles in the Doctor Who series are adhered to, meaning your precious items are stashed away in a complex, sentient machine that can travel through time as well as relative dimensions in space, now how about that?

Best of all is, you need not even be a true blue Time Lord, but rather, someone with 30 quid in your bank account. All you need to do is slot in a compatible smartphone into the Tardis Smart Safe, key in your very own PIN code, and it will unlock – boasting authentic opening sound and light effects to boot. This particular accessory is officially licensed by the BBC, and runs on a trio of AAA batteries. Only the iPhone or Android-powered handsets will play nice with it, Blackberry owners will have to find some corner and sulk.

Amazon Glacier: Super Slow Archiving Storage

If you’ve got massive amounts of historical data to backup and have had trouble finding a low cost storage solution, then you should check out Amazon Glacier.

amazon glacier storage vault

There are plenty of archiving services out there, but most of them will cost you a lot of money, compared to what Glacier is offering. Glacier’s data vault is a lot slower, but it will cost you just a penny per gig per month. This amounts to 10% of what Amazon charges for its S3 storage service. There are no setup fees, and Glacier can handle petabytes without any problems. However, the service is designed for data that is infrequently accessed and where retrieval times of several hours are acceptable. Accessing more than 5% of your data per month costs $0.05 per 1,000 requests. Requests take between three and five hours to process, and that’s before they’re ready to download.

It’s a safe way of backing up all your precious photos, music, and other stuff that’s vulnerable to a hack or data loss, which could be irreplaceable if not properly archived in redundant systems.
