Star Wars Pinball: Balance of the Force Hits Consoles and Smartphones

I can remember growing up back in the 80s, there were plenty of pinball machines in arcades alongside the video games. I was always more interested in video games, but there’s no denying that a noisy pinball machine with flippers and giant ball bearings rolling around is tons of fun. It’s hard to find pinball machines these days, but there are plenty of digital versions of pinball machines available.

If you’re a digital pinball wizard and like Star Wars, a new pack of pinball tables called Star Wars Pinball: Balance of the Force is coming for a number of gaming systems. The game offers three new Star Wars themed pinball tables to play through. Players will aid Star Wars characters including Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Chewbacca Lando Calrissian, and more. There are also tables themed for bad guys such as Darth Vader.

The new tables will be available for the Xbox, PS3, PS Vita, Nintendo Wii U, iOS, Android, Windows 8, Mac OS, and the Kindle Fire HD later this fall.

Robocop Statue Continues Its Journey to Detroit

We told you about Detroit’s Robocop Statue in the past. It’s one of the few joys that Detroit has left after some tough economic times. Now you can watch the unboxing of the form for the 10-foot-tall Robocop statue as it arrives at Venus Bronze Works in Detroit where it will be completed.

Pete Hottelet, who made the video, is a major investor of the project. As Pete says, “This is the foam sculpt; The bronze statue will be cast from these pieces. The final location for the statue is still to be determined, we are accepting solicitations so it gets the best placement possible.”

We will continue to cover this story until the mighty Robocop statue is standing guard over the city where he belongs.

Guy Builds Star Wars X-34 Landspeeder for Son

Instructables member blogsdo is a pretty awesome guy. He made this “quick and dirty” Landspeeder X-34 for his son’s 6th birthday party. He used a chassis from a pedal powered Original Kettcar and built the frame around it.

He did a pretty awesome job if you ask me. I like that he used flower pots for the engines. Hey, whatever you have handy is fair game as far as I’m concerned. The important thing is that the kids at that party had a lot of fun and now all want this guy for a dad. They’ve probably started calling his house Mos Eisley.

How cool would it be to ride this Landspeeder around the neighborhood on Halloween?

This Wookiee Cosplay Is Dead on, May Lead to Bigfoot Sightings

Wookiees are real. You could be forgiven if you believe that after seeing this epic Wookiee costume by Julian Checkley (aka Darth Serberus). This costume looks really amazing and authentic – and huge! This guy will rip your arm out of its socket for sure.

This 8′ 2″ Tarfful wookiee is no joke. This is some serious cosplay, so its maker has to put on stilts and harnesses, and even get help from friends to stand up.

You can watch the process in the video below and be amazed as a man becomes a larger than life Wookiee, and check out more on the build process over on The RPF.

I would be tired just from the weight and heat of all that fur. But it looks damn good and he knows how to move like a Wookiee too.

Doctor Who Cake with Edible Characters

We’ve seen plenty of Doctor Who cakes over the years, but how many have edible characters standing around waiting to enter your mouth as they travel through time and space to your stomach?
Doctor Who cake
Well, this cake has just that. Edible characters. There’s the Doctor, Rory, Amy, some Weeping Angels, Daleks and a Cyberman. Not to mention the centerpiece, a lovely, tasty TARDIS.

Girl Dressed as Doctor Who Takes on Giant Balloon Cthulhu

The headline pretty much says it all.

All I can say is thank God she’s got more than a sonic screwdriver.

Custom Blade Runner Action Figures: Wake up, Time to Play

You know what stinks? Loving a movie that doesn’t have any actions figures that you can collect. Blade Runner is a good example. There are no official Blade Runner action figures, and that’s just plain wrong.

However, San Francisco freelance artist Scott Petterson has created a custom and very realistic series of 12″ action figures based on Ridley’s Scott’s 1982 sci-fi thriller. Scott works in wax when he sculpts to get those incredible details. He even created some “end of the movie” versions of Deckard and Roy Batty, when the characters are covered with battle wounds.

It takes two to three months to create one of his reproductions, but the end result is really amazing. I wish toy companies could do this good a job. I wish I could buy the whole set.

He plans on making more characters from the film, like Dr. Eldon Tyrell and Gaff. You can buy some unpainted head sculptures from his art blog if you like what you see.

Alien Facehugger Wall Clock: Time to Die

When you have the Alien Facehugger clock on your wall, your days are numbered. When you have a clock like this it doesn’t really matter what time it is. The important thing is that you get the hell out of there and avoid getting facehugged by it.
facehugger
This awesome sculptural clock was created by Rockstar Games artist Chris ‘Eddie Escher’ Edwards. He used polymer clay, wire and plastic to make it. It’s hand-painted and lacquered, and the clock has a quartz movement and glow in the dark hands. Oh, and it looks like it could crawl off of the face of clock easily and hunt you down.

If you happen to live in the UK, you can check it out in person at the Rapture Gallery at 2 Westmoreland Street in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. You can buy it for about $310(USD), assuming you can live with this thing on your wall.
