Scosche boomBOTTLE is now available

Scosche is back again with a spanking new audio peripheral for those who tend to spend plenty of time in the great outdoors. I am referring to the Scosche boomBOTTLE, which comes across as a new kind of mobile speaker that is capable of streaming music even when you are biking, hiking, or camping, among other outdoor pursuits. First unveiled at CES 2013 earlier this year, the Scosche boomBOTTLE actually managed to pick up the gong for an Innovations and Design Award Honoree, as it claims to offer remarkable audio quality whenever you are on the go.

Just what makes the Scosche boomBOTTLE different from the rest of the mobile speakers that are in the market? Well, this unique speaker will come with a durable non-slip, shock absorbing TPU exterior, which is strong enough to be able to withstand drops or vibrations which are attributed to traveling on rough terrain. Not only that, since it boasts of IP4X ratings for its weatherproof construction, it will also ensure that the Scosche boomBOTTLE remains protected from the likes of unexpected weather, sweat and other kinds of moisture. Heck, it even boasts of sealed dustproof speaker grills so that your ears will be able to enjoy maximum audio quality as far as possible.

There will be dual 40mm drivers incorporated that deliver rich, clear audio with amplified acoustics, which should be decent enough a performer for even the loudest of outdoor environments. Individual speakers feature an omnidirectional diffuser which will be able to channel music in all directions, resulting in 360 degrees of immersive sound. The boomBOTTLE has been blessed with incredible bass, where this is made possible courtesy of a large passive subwoofer which has been housed in a tuned and ported enclosure for optimum performance.

It also has a wireless range of 33 feet, doing away with the need for pesky cables that might trip you up. The grey boomBOTTLE can be yours for $149.99, although those looking for green, yellow, pink and blue shades will have to wait until this May.

Scosche BoomBottle ships for $150, just in time to serenade fellow cyclists

Scosche promised a soundtrack to our biking and hiking when it unveiled the BoomBottle back in January; conveniently, it’s shipping the Bluetooth speaker right as the spring thaw lets us give the peripheral a proper workout. The outdoorsy among us can now spend $150 to get a dust- and splashproof stereo system that fits into a bike’s water bottle holder, or on a backpack through a carabiner, and plays for 10 hours on a charge. We’ll have to wait, though, if we want a dash of color while we bombard other travelers with our taste in music. Gray versions are available now or very shortly at Scosche’s site and Walmart, but more season-appropriate blue, green, pink and yellow hues will only sell through Scosche in May.

Scosche Chargers Let You Leave Your iPhone Lightning Cable at Home

If you’re like me and tend to leave things in the car as you’re going about your day’s busy agenda, you probably hate carrying your only charging cable for your iPhone with you on the road. It’s nice to be able to keep the smartphone charged, but inevitably I end up having to run out to the car, in the cold at two o’clock in the morning when I realize I need to charge my phone. This is particularly bad now that I use an iPhone 5 since I only have a single Lightning-compatible charging cable.

Sure, I could buy an extra charging cable from Apple, but I would have to keep a USB to 12V adapter for the car as well. Scosche has unveiled a new line of products designed specifically for charging Apple Lightning devices in the car or at home.
