Smiley Face Screws and Screwdriver: Smile, You’re Screwed!

There are many different screw head types. Like those screw heads on game consoles that are designed to keep you out. Those should have grump faces to represent them, whereas Yuma Kano’s design is all about fun.

Screw is a collaborative project between him and Komura Seisakusho, a screw factory in Japan. The idea is that his screws are “a product that can bring joy.” If you were taking something apart and didn’t expect to see a screw like this, I imagine it would make you smile.

Of course you need a smiley face screwdriver to screw them in and unscrew them. Who says tools can’t be fun and functional?

Screwdriver Wine Bottle Stopper: How a Man Corks Wine

Forget the cork. A real man uses tools to protect his wine and keep it fresh. This technique was probably discovered when some guy was enjoying a glass of wine in the tool shed and simply used what he had on hand.

This quality bottle stopper is designed to fit most standard sized bottles and is made of stainless steel. One added benefit of the screwdriver top is that it’s easy to grip. Though it won’t be tightening any screws any time soon.

It is only $10.95(USD) from HomeWetBar. Don’t let your wine go bad. Shove a screwdriver in that bottle and keep things fresh.

Screw Grabber kisses goodbye to lost screws

screw-grabberI am quite sure that every single house needs a handyman around, even better when that person happens to live under the same roof as you. After all, calling a plumber to fix a leak could prove expensive in the long run, so why not ensure that someone living in the same house as you has the necessary DIY skills to perform all the little touch ups? Well, here is a Kickstarter project that might pique your interest – never mind the lack of skill, having the right tools are also essential in getting the task done in the first place. The Screw Grabber is a solution to the non-magnetic screw problem, where you need not worry about a dropped screw – ever again.

The Screw Grabber will arrive with a transparent rubber sleeve which will slide onto screwdrivers so that it can hold a range of screw sizes to the end of a screwdriver. The ribbed head interior ensures that screws remain nice and straight, while the interior taper would adjust itself for a wide range of screw head sizes. Since the ribbed shaft interior was specially designed to come into constant contact with the drivers shank, there are 4 points of contact which enable for a wider range of shank diameters, all the while reducing friction whenever one slides the grabber up or down the shank. Right now, the funding goal has yet to be met, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed that it does!

Screwdriver Car Key Hack Makes Everyone Think You’re Driving a Stolen Car

Can you still steal a car and drive away with it by jamming a screwdriver into the ignition? I’m not sure about that, but what I’m sure of is that you can drive a car with a screwdriver jammed into the ignition – provided a duplicate of your car key has been soldered right at the very end of the aforementioned tool.

Screwdriver Key Hack

The man behind  this creative hack is Nathan of HaHa Bird, who admits that he came up with it with “no practical purpose at all.” That doesn’t make it any less fun, though.

You’ll clearly need basic metal working skills to pull this off, so don’t attempt to make your own screwdriver key if you’re not sure what you’re doing. You also run the risk of damaging your ignition if you don’t do it properly, so you have been warned.

That said, Nathan has provided how-to instructions on his site if you’re interested in making one for yourself.

Prince: Screwdriver

Prince is a notorious, Lars Ulrich-level hard-ass when it comes to the copyright protection of his work and has been especially outspoken in his distaste for YouTube. But it would appear that the seminal rocker has had a change of heart if this newly “leaked” single is any evidence. More »

Grenade Screwdriver Conceals Phillips and Flat Bits, Not Explosives Inside

When I need to remove a screw these days, I usually bust out my overly literal screw gun, but sometimes you need the torque that only your own hand can provide – or as I like to say – a bigger weapon. What you’re looking at here might appear to be a hand grenade, but it’s actually a screwdriver.

grenade screwdriverThe guys over at Kikkerland designed this hand tool, which is made from plastic and stainless steel and has a 6 piece screwdriver set concealed inside. Just flip the red lid on the grenade, and you’ll find the driver and bits hiding out. You can grab the Grenade Screwdriver set for just $5(USD) over at Kikkerland’s online shop or on Amazon.

And if you find yourself trying to remove a really stubborn stripped screw, you could always turn to actual explosives.

Drill Gun Screwdriver Bangs Bolts In

A couple of months ago we saw a handgun that looks like an electric drill. Here’s the complete opposite, a electric screwdriver that looks like a handgun. Those poor shelves and cabinets won’t know what hit ‘em.

The 3.6-volt electric screwdriver comes with six drill bits that fit in the revolver chambers. Hopefully they fit snugly or else you might find yourself firing blanks one day.
