You can stretch out these fake marble sculptures like a slinky

Yes, like a slinky. These marble-looking sculptures that look like they’re from Ancient Greece are actually completely malleable, deformable, slinky-like art pieces. You see, the sculptures are made from thousands of sheets of paper to appear solid when still. When you tug at the sculpture though, you can stretch it out however you like.

These wire sculptures actually look like people frozen in carbonite

It’s sort of unbelievable but these sculptures are all made from aluminum wire. When you look at the artwork up close, you can see each line of wire coming together to form the body of a human but when you’re looking from far away it totally looks like people frozen in carbonite.

This NYC Gas Station Is Home to a Temporary Sheep Pasture

When most Manhattan real estate developers buy up land to build a new tower, they unceremoniously raze any existing structures. But Michael Shvo, a developer and art collector who recently bought a lot near the High Line with the intention of building a new residential tower, decided to have a little fun first.

Portland's New Streetlights Are Psychedelic, Carnivorous Plants

If you’ve seen one streetlight, you’ve pretty much seen them all. They’re important, sure, but they’re usually not much to look at. The lamps that popped up across Portland are a little bit different. A little more like giant, carnivorous plants.

Turntable Ashtrays: Scratch n’ Whiff

Musicians and things that can be smoked go together like people and vices. Overly realistic and thus useless analogy FTW! But if those things do have a space in your life, check out the Decktray. Made by artist Terry Griffiths, these functional artworks are ashtrays that look like turntables.

Aside from the Decktrays, Griffiths also made a companion container that looks like a mixer. In our modern age, you’d be forgiven if you think that Griffiths made the Decktrays and the mixers using a 3D scanner and printer. But Griffiths is proud to say that he makes each piece by hand. Plot twist: his hands are 3D printers. Just kidding.

Call your friend who knows a guy who knows a guy who knows a dog who knows a guy who can use a Web browser to order the Decktray from Griffith’s Etsy shop Sku Style. Or just get a doctor’s prescription that says you need one. The Deluxe Package sells for about $240 (USD) and includes two Decktrays and a mixer. You can also buy a single Decktray for about $120 and the mixer container for around $48. UK clubbers can also go to Griffith’s personal store.

Own Your Own Life-Size Bioshock Big Daddy and Little Sister

Looking for the perfect thing to greet guests in your foyer? Screw the potted plants and wall art and go for something a bit more dramatic. If I had the money kicking around (and my wife wouldn’t throw me out of the house for doing it,) I’d totally want this full-size Bioshock Big Daddy and Little Sister in my entryway.

The guys at Studio Oxmox made these amazingly accurate sculptures of Big Daddy and Little Sister that you can actually buy for yourself (assuming you can skip the mortgage payment for a couple of months.) Big Daddy measures a whopping 7-feet, 2-inches-tall and is sporting his imposing pressure suit and arm drill. The 41-inch-tall Little Sister will stare down guests with her empty eyeballs and shoot them up with a syringe of EVE. (while Gordon Freeman looks on from the background).

Both statues are made from fiberglass, and can be shipped to your home within 5 to 10 days. The pair is available over on eBay for $6490(USD), plus it’ll cost you another $1449 to pack and ship them safely from their current location in France. Sure, that’s probably as much as an actual vacation package to Rapture, but the look on the faces of your houseguests when they see these things will be priceless.
