It’s rare that a device gets the personal seal of approval from our reviews chief, but that’s the the hallowed ground that Samsung’s Series 9 gets to stand upon. It earned praise for its excellent build, battery life, display and performance, and our only gripe was a trackpad that needed a software tweak or two. The question is, outside of our testing laboratory, did it hold up to scrutiny? Did you buy one on our suggestion, and if so, how have you found it? Welcome to How Would You Change.
Samsung Series 9 Premium Ultrabook With Full HD Display Available For $1,399
Posted in: Today's ChiliSamsung announced its new and improved Series 9 Premium Ultrabook a few weeks ago which would introduce a 13.3-inch full HD display, Intel Core i7 processor and 256GB SSD to its line of ultra books. And today, the company is announcing it is now available for purchase.
The Samsung Series 9 Premium Ultrabook (NP900X3E-A02US) is quite the little powerhouse as we already mentioned it’s equipped with a full HD display at a resolution of 1920 x 1080, but it also comes with 4GB of RAM, Samsung’s SuperBright technology able to provide 300 nit of brightness, a 1.3MP HD Webcam, 802.11 a/b/g/n and comes in at the extremely-light weight of 2.56lbs. Best of all, the previously revealed price of $1,899.99 has been slashed down to $1,399.99, making this a much more affordable ultrabook.
Considering we were thoroughly impressed with the Samsung Series 9 (NP900) in our review, we certainly like the direction Samsung is taking its 13-inch ultrabook by including some serious hardware in it while keeping its weight relatively light. We can’t wait to get our hands on the new Premium Ultrabook and will hopefully have a review for you guys in the coming weeks.

It’s not that many devices that we ever really go to bat for, but Samsung’s Series 9 Ultrabook has a small place in our heart. When we reviewed the mid-2012 refresh, we could only find a few problems — the flaky trackpad, the limited storage options and the fact it was a bit on the pricey side. We’ve known for a while that Samsung’s product engineers scour your comments for useful suggestions, so if you bought one of these, why not share your experiences with ’em?
Samsung has just launched their latest “toy” for big boys, the Series 9 Premium Ultrabook, and while it might not seem all that new to you, that is because this particular model comes with Full HD resolution capability, which is a surefire way of gaining the interest of anyone who is shopping for a spanking new Ultrabook now. The latest model in the Series 9 range, will of course, bask in the glory of an LED-backlit 1920×1080 full HD display, one that is touted to offer up to 40% additional screen content compared to the standard 1600×900 HD+ display.
Other than that, you will find its SuperBright technology to deliver up to 50% more brightness compared to regular laptop displays for more vivid colors. The Samsung Series 9 Premium Ultrabook is said to be the ideal travel companion, and since it has Samsung’s PowerPlus charging technology that works in tandem with an advanced Lithium-Polyester battery, it has a lifespan of up to 1,500 cycles, which means the product is capable of lasting up to three times more compared to your average notebook battery. An Intel Core i7 processor runs proceedings from within, aided by a 256GB solid state drive and Windows 8 Pro in tow. [Press Release]

We just published our review of the Samsung Series 9 (NP900) last month, and Samsung is already updating it to make it even more awesome than it already is. Samsung is announcing its flagship laptop will be receiving a 13.3-inch, 1920 x 1080 LED display which is combined with the company’s SuperBright technology to provide a 50 percent increase in its brightness compared to competing screens. Touchscreen has been left of the cutting room floor for the new Series 9 laptop, which could certainly be a deal breaker if that’s what you’re looking for in your laptops these days.
The new Series 9 still retains its astounding slim frame, even though it’s now equipped with a 1080p display as it’s a half-inch thick and weighs in at 2.56 pounds. Its internal specs also include an Intel Core i7 processor, 4GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD with Windows 8 as the operating system. Samsung says the new Series 9 will provide up to eight hours of battery life, which is a slight improvement over what we saw with the NP900′s 7-hour battery life. Retailing for $1,899.99, hopefully its 1080p-touchless display will entice you enough to spend that kind of cash.

This Thoroughly Modern Laptop Is Your Ultrabooks-Are-Cheap-Now Deal of the Day
Posted in: Today's Chili Over at Amazon, one of the best Ultrabooks we’ve seen yet is at a significant discount. Samsung’s 2012 Series 9 is down to $700. For perspective, its MSRP was $1000 at launch and street price elsewhere is about $900. But formidable as the discount is, what makes this deal a real value is that this is a extremely nice laptop in terms of both build quality and specs. This is a new Samsung Series 9, launched with the same body and screen as Samsung’s standard bearing Series 9, but with a less expensive, older processor. More »
Samsung’s Crazy Better-Than-Retina Display Series 9 Ultrabook Can’t Get Here Fast Enough [Wish You Were Here]
Posted in: Today's Chili Samsung is showing a 13-inch Series 9 ultrabook at IFA with a 2,560×1,440 display. It’s only a prototype, but here is the only reasonable reaction to that bit of news: Hell f*cking yes. More »
Samsung smuggles new Series 9 prototype into IFA: 2,560 x 1,440 on a matte display (hands-on)
Posted in: Today's ChiliWell, this snuck up on us. Close to the end of the first official open-floor day at IFA, Samsung managed to eke out yet another product we want to get our hands on, soonish. This 13-inch Series 9 WQHD Ultrabook beams Windows 8 on 2,560 x 1,440 display (oh yes), making a visible leap beyond the existing Series 9 13-incher, which sticks to a more typical 1,600 x 900. Better still, the surface of the screen has a gentle matte finish. The engineering sample arrived in the Samsung spokesperson’s hands just seven days ago. The resolution matches ASUS’ high-grade gamer monitor in pixels, if falling ever so slightly short of the Retina Display on Apple’s newest MacBook model. There was no news on what the manufacturer will call the new display tech, further specifications, or even whether this was just a proof of concept — the device was chilling in the corner of the electronics giant’s innovation gallery. Hopefully, Samsung won’t hold out on those details for much longer. Take a look for yourself in our hands-on video after the break.

Welcome to Engadget’s back to school guide! The end of summer vacation isn’t nearly as much fun as the weeks that come before, but a chance to update your tech tools likely helps to ease the pain. Today we’re getting down to the very important business of helping you sift through laptops — and you can head to the back to school hub to see the rest of the product guides as they’re added throughout the month. Be sure to keep checking back — at the end of August we’ll be giving away a ton of the gear featured in our guides — you can hit up the hub page right here!
Given their roots — luxury machines like the original MacBook Air ($1,800) and last year’s Samsung Series 9 ($1,649) — you’d be forgiven if you initially dismissed Ultrabooks as being too extravagant for a college-bound student. Thankfully, though, prices have sunk so low that you can now find a thin, fast, ultraportable laptop for as little as $700. The only problem, perhaps, is a paradox of choice: the selection is already crowded with dozens of contenders, and there are 100-some-odd more models in the pipeline, according to Intel. Fortunately for you, dear readers, we’ve had the chance to handle or even review many of them, and were able to whittle down the offerings to a handful of promising contenders. Whether you’re prepared to spend $750 or $1,400, we have something that’ll fit the bill.

Samsung Series 9 13-inch lands 1.9GHz Core i7, 256GB SSD edition for the power user set
Posted in: Today's ChiliWhen we looked at the 13-inch Samsung Series 9, we lamented that there was only one version on offer: if anyone wanted more than a Core i5 and a 128GB drive, their dreams were crushed. Samsung must feel that there’s hope for us yet, as there’s now a higher-end spec that slots in a 1.9GHz Core i7 and doubles the storage to 256GB. That’s good news to us, even if the 4GB RAM ceiling will still have some avid Ultrabook fans turning elsewhere. Springing for the new flagship will set shoppers back by about $300 more than the previous top of the line, or $1,700 — still pricey relative to the competition, but much more palatable you’re searching for a premium Windows 7 ultraportable and aren’t willing to budge on screen size.
