These Nike Free Inneva Woven Shoes Are All I Need to Be Happy [Video]

I’ve never wanted anything more in my life than these Nike Free Inneva Wovens. Okay, that’s probably a lie. I’m pretty sure I want to wake up tomorrow morning more than own a pair of shoes. And I’m probably more thankful that I get to eat tonight. But pure stuff-wise? I’m looking at my new iPhone 5 and I don’t have that same primal, tunnel desire of “I want you now now now” than I do with these Nikes. More »

These Shoes Guide You Home Using GPS, However Lost You Are [Video]

We’ve all been there: drunk, flat phone battery, lost and unable to find a cab. While usually the only solution is to sit on the sidewalk and weep, if you were wearing Dominic Wilcox‘s new No Place Like Home GPS shoes, you’d be able to make it home by just looking at your feet. More »

You’d Never Get Lost With a Pair of These GPS Shoes [Video]

The concept of GPS shoes is nothing new, but this pair designed by Dominic Wilcox don’t report your whereabouts to Mom, or an authoritarian government or something. Instead, they’ll help you shuffle home if you get lost somehow. More »

GPS Shoes: Ruby Slippers 2.0

These shoes won’t take you home when you click its heels, but it will help you get there. Made by British artist Dominic Wilcox, the No Place Like Home shoes points the wearer to the right way via the magic of GPS.

According to Inhabitat, there’s a GPS receiver on the heel of the left shoe that can be used to punch in an address, although they didn’t mention exactly how that’s done. Once it knows where you want to go, LEDs on the left shoe indicate the direction to take, while a line of LEDs on the right shoe provides a rough estimate of proximity to the destination.

Nike LunarTR1+ Review: The Physical Trainer Strapped To Your Feet [Video]

I haven’t played basketball in years. I don’t even exercise regularly. I love air conditioning. I explain all this to D-TRAINED, a Nike physical trainer, on a soul-sapping hot day. He ignores my slob story and runs me through a grueling series of drills. Afterward, with my hands melting into my knees, D-TRAINED walks over and hands me an iPhone—and it shows me what I really did. More »

Awesome Mom Paints Her Son’s Converse, Dark Knight Style

So last week, we saw how awesome dads could be. First, there was the dad who built his daughter her very own backyard roller coaster. Then there was the dad who turned his kid’s toy car into a real one. But moms can be awesome, too, and today we’ve got an example of one. Now what she did might not be something of epic proportions or mechanical in nature, but it’s a labor of love, just like what those dads did.

Redditor zacch wanted a pair of Batman Converse, but didn’t have the cash. So instead of buying one for him, his mom took one of his old pairs and painted all sorts of cool Batman stuff on them.

Converse Mom
Not only do they look awesome, but they’re also one-of-a-kind, considering that his mom customized them and all.

The post on Reddit has amassed a lot of praise, comments, and request, which prompted zacch’s mom to accept requests for customized shoes. If you’re interested in getting a pair of customized kicks, check out his mom’s blog and use the email on that site to send in your requests or inquiries.

Adidas Social Media Barricade shoe concept moves tweets to the track (video)

Adidas Social Media Shoe concept moves tweets to the track

Adidas is known for making connected shoes — but never quite as linked-up as a Nash Money concept making its appearance late into the London Olympics. The Social Media Barricade weaves the guts of a phone and a basic two-line LCD into a running shoe, letting the footwear take Twitter updates very literally on the run through a public account. Even the signature Adidas stripes change their hue through remote control. Before anyone gets visions of athletes checking congratulatory tweets after the 100-meter sprint, just remember that it’s an idea rather than a production blueprint: although Adidas is quick to call the Social Media Barricade the “future of athlete connectivity,” the only athletes putting eyes on a pair right now are those swinging by the Olympics’ media lounge for interviews. Knowing this, we can still imagine some future shoes padding runners’ egos at the finish line during the 2016 Rio games.

Nike’s Specially Designed Track Spikes Helped a Double Amputee Sprint in London [London 2012]

South African sprinter Oscar Pistorius just ran in the Olympics. Unlike his competitors he did it as a below-the-knee amputee, using Ossür’s Flex-Foot Cheetah legs. But he also faced a unique challenge that his competitors didn’t have to consider—how do you get track spikes on your prosthetics? More »

Newton MV² Racing Flat Review: Hybrid Footwear That’s Halfway Good [Lightning Review]

Running shoes today tend toward two extremes. You can strap gigantic foam pillows to your feet, or you can don a super thin slice of rubber and pretend you’re running barefoot. (Wait, there’s a third extreme—those neon green Olympics shoes.) More »
