This week we’re seeing quite a bit of news on the RIM front, mostly because the heads of the company have been vocal in the face of a possible incoming lawsuit that will be headed by angry investors – bits like We don’t build phones in China and re-elections of the board are running wild. On a lighter note, you’ll want to check out the kickstarter for Ouya if you’ve got a love for Android and video games – console style. There’s a couple of new Motorola devices out there soon, too, the RAZR V for Canada and the ATRIX HD for AT&T in the USA.

Steve Ballmer has spoken – Microsoft will “leave no space uncovered that is Apple’s”. Steve Wozniak, on the other and of the tech world, is speaking up on Megaupload, Microsoft, and Google Project Glass.

Over in Finland, researchers have started recording the Northern Lights in sound form. AT&T has come forth with a bit of their own speech technology with a Watson-powered speech API for developers. In their Safari case, Google will have to pay a tiny $22.5 million dollars in damages.

New Google Chrome APIs have been released for cameras while Android 4.1 Jelly Bean has been released to AOSP. Head on down to Google’s developer pages for both systems and get to work making masterpieces!

SlashGear Morning Wrap-Up: July 9th, 2012

This week we’re jumping right in on the smart TV game with a review of the Samsung UN55ES8000, complete with an ultra-thin body and full 3D action. NASA is getting on board with a lovely new panoramic video of mars for your enjoyment. And for one more completely unrelated piece of news, the folks behind RoboCop 2013 have released a teaser trailer for OmniCorp that you’re just going to love.

The terror game known as Resident Evil 6 is hitting the pre-order list for Tesco. We’ve got a tip on a Samsung Windows RT tablet coming down the line with a Qualcomm processor inside. HP will also be releasing some products soon, with the HP ENVY All-in-One hitting on all fours.

The operating system known as Meego will be revived by Nokia ex-employees. Don Reisinger has written a column by the name of Third-Party Developers will Make or Break the Wii U. You’ll want to check out the Death Star ping-pong that’s popped up this morning. A high court in the UK has decided that the Samsung Galaxy Tab family are no iPads.

Thousands of individuals are knocked offline today as DNSChanger cleanup peaks. The Dark Knight Rises has a brand new 13-minute feature out now that should readily ruin the entire movie for you. Windows 8 RTM coming early august with shelf exposure coming late October.

SlashGear Morning Wrap-Up: July 6th, 2012

This morning it’s time to get real with HTC, as their not so fabulous Q2 profit report is reacted to by our own Chris Davies in a column by the name of HTC’s Precipice Moment. In completely unrelated news, Microsoft will be releasing a Halo 4 Xbox 360 sometime in the future and it’s high time we started printing blood vessels.

You’ll be interested to know that the box floating around your Piccsy screen is not a gigantic USB stick, it’s a Ouya Android device, made to be a game streaming box for just $99 on kickstarter – see it soon! Watch out for the framers out there looking to make Android look bad with Malware Botnet like you’ve never seen before.

You will also be having a fabulous time working with the Quad GeForce GTX 690 server – a blast of power from all sides! Microsoft has confirmed that there will be no Windows Home Server for the Windows 8 generation.

Samsung is doing quite a bit better this past quarter than HTC has done.

NASA is showing off some brand new images of Mars. The folks at Blue have released a brand new Tiki USB mic that’s out at Best Buy today – and be sure to check out their new setup at the big box stores that are left as well! Nokia has released their until-now-secretive Batman: Dark Knight Rises 3D Gotham map. And of course, don’t forget the Amazon Kindle Phone – also very possibly coming soon, too.

SlashGear Morning Wrap-Up: July 5th, 2012

This week we’ve had a fabulous holiday and are ramping up to see the barrage of updates that will pour out from tech groups across the USA in a glorious return to form. Meanwhile something undeniably important has happened – scientists working at CERN are 99.99997% (that’s not just an estimate) sure that they’ve found the God Particle, aka Higgs boson. This discovery and nearly-proven theory has implications that will bring on a whole new era of scientific discovery, and it’s happened in our lifetime! While everything else sort of pales in comparison to this news, you’ll also want to see some of the more human-sized posts we’ve got up, including our Orange San Diego review.

Samsung has dropped a massive 75-inch television that’ll cost you a pretty penny to own: just $17k! AT&T have announced the Motorola Atrix HD for the future greatness of the big M. Lenovo is reportedly meeting with Microsoft to create a custom-made Windows Phone for the very near future.

The rumor of an Apple-flavored Project Glass has come up again. The Google Nexus Q has had a teardown complete with nearly all USA-made components. Apple is being sued in China over Siri.

And in ultra-strange-and-amazingly-fun news, we’ve got Nokia showing off Gotham City in 3D for those of you waiting for The Dark Knight Rises. It’s going to be amazing!

SlashGear Morning Wrap-Up: July 3, 2012

This morning we’ve got news on the God Particle about to be named by the folks at CERN – but perhaps they’ll stop short after all. Maybe it’ll just be a kingly particle instead. Nokia has found several patent infringements in the Google Nexus 7, this spelling trouble for the not-yet-shipped device. The tablet known as the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is in a bit of trouble as well as Apple has had its ban on sales retained.

Apple’s iCloud has had several web apps added. Some BlackBerry 10 plans have leaked with a map leading to an early 2013 release date. The world’s new lightest ultrabook is now the NEC LaVie Z

The Google Nexus 7 has been torn down, revealing no less than two audio drivers inside – strange! Researchers are now predicting that tablets will be overtaking notebooks by the year 2016.

You’ll want to check out The Next Microsoft: the branding Surface deserves. Parrot has revealed a pair of super-advanced headphones for the USA under the title Parrot ZIK. Ferrari designer Sergio Pininfarina has died.

SlashGear Morning Wrap-Up: June 25, 2012

This morning we’re getting prepped for a week that’s going to be full to the brim with no less than the latest and the greatest in Google development news, as Google I/O 2012 starts on Wednesday! Look for a spattering of news bits surrounding the events starting with no less than a leak of the tablet we’ll likely see popping up for all – Nexus style. Meanwhile Microsoft will be going big with Microsoft Connected Car plans for the near future with Kinect, Windows Phone 8, and the cloud.

AT&T’s Samsung Galaxy S II has its Ice Cream Sandwich update sent out this week. BlackBerry 10 has been leaked with the BlackBerry L-Series and QUERTY N-Series. The folks at T-Mobile and Verizon are shaking hands this week over a big-time spectrum swap.

It appears that the Microsoft Surface project was born of timid manufacturers – go big or go home! The iPhone is looking more and more like an NFC-toting beast for its next release. Sony is trying again for the Google TV with their NSZ-GS7 this July!
