Ibis hotels to have robots paint art while they track your sleep no, that's not creepy at all video

First they invaded our factories, and now it’s our hotel rooms. Is nowhere safe from the robots? In truth, Ibis’ upcoming Sleep Art project is very slick, even if it smacks of robot voyeurism. Ibis hotels in Berlin, London and Paris will let 40 successful applicants sleep on beds that each have 80 sensors translating movements, sound and temperature into truly unique acrylic paintings by robotic arms connected through WiFi. You don’t have to worry that the machines are literally watching you sleep — there’s no cameras or other visual records of the night’s tossing and turning, apart from the abstract lines on the canvas. All the same, if you succeed in landing a stay in one of the Sleep Art hotel rooms between October 13th and November 23rd, you’re a brave person. We all know how this ends.

Cat Hammock is Purrfect for Lazy, Fat Cats

Did you know that some cats sleep up to twenty hours a day? No wonder some of them can grow as fat as forty pounds (that’s what the world’s fattest cat weighed before it up and died of pulmonary disease). Given their usually laid-back nature, the perfect gift you can get your cat is probably this cat hammock.

cat crib So it’s called the Cat Crib, but it looks like the cat version of the hammocks many of us lazy humans enjoy, especially on those warm summer afternoons.

It looks pretty cool and it also saves you space at home, since you won’t need to get a cat bed anymore. Just attach the hammock on anything that has four legs (chairs or a coffee table, maybe?) and you’re all set. Unless you’ve got a 40 pound cat, of course.

The Cat Crib is available online for $29 (USD) in black, purple or a neutral colors.

Fitbit One Uses Technology to Help You Get Fit and Sleep Better

I think we can all agree that technology is a great thing. The right application of technology can make just about anything you want to do easier and more effective. If you’re a gadget fiend looking to get into shape, Fitbit has a new device up for pre-order called the One.

It’s sort of like a high-tech pedometer that you wear day and night. During the day, the device records all sorts of information about your activity such as the number of steps you take, the amount of calories you burn, the distance you travel, and the number of stairs you climb. At night, it records the number of hours you sleep, and the quality of your sleep.

It will tell you how many times a night you wake up and how long and how well you snoozed. In the mornings, it can also wake you with a vibrating silent alarm. The device captures all this data and can automatically sync data with your computer or smartphone via Bluetooth, and you can earn badges and place yourself on leader boards online.

You can pre-order the Fitbit One right now for $99.95(USD).

How to Survive On as Little Sleep Possible [Fitmodo]

Confession: I am both an insomniac and a procrastinator. I don’t fall asleep and I wait until the last possible moment to get something done. So I’ve pulled more all-nighters than anyone I know. Is this smart? No. Is this healthy? No. Has it taken years off of my life? Probably. More »

Turn your sleep into music with a new software

Each of us has a different set of sleep patterns. Sleep patterns usually comprise of our physical positions as well as heart beat and breathing rates, while we sleep. Scientists at the University of Helsinki have now developed a software which can turn your sleep patterns into music.

The idea sounds exciting in that each of us essentially has a unique sleeping pattern, so the corresponding music for it would also be unique. In order to record the sleeping patterns of a person, a Beddit sensor has to be placed under his/her mattress. This sensor comes with internet connectivity and once it has collected the relevant data, it uploads that data to Sleep Musicalization website. (more…)
