Awesome Batman Sleeve Tattoo: Where Does He Get That Wonderful Ink?

There is something about the colors in the older comic books that today’s comics just don’t have. They were bright and vibrant and just jumped off the page in a way that today’s do not. Maybe it was the ink that they used. Anyway, this amazing Batman tattoo captures this spot on.

This super detailed, full-color tattoo by British artist Ian Hopkins truly brings the classic Batman comic books to life. This is pre-Dark Knight Batman, when the colors were alive and stunning.

Nexus 7 2 Sleeve Appears On Google Play Store

Nexus 7 2 Sleeve Appears On Google Play StoreThose of you who have already purchased the recently announced Nexus 7 would be pleased to hear that it is time to play Barbie with your spanking new tablet – and by that, I mean dressing it up in its coming share of accessories, of course, and not to wrap a ribbon around it! The latest accessory for the new Nexus 7 would come in the form of a sleeve, where you can find it on the Google Play Store so that your tablet will remain protected from any accidental knocks, scratches or drops.

Unfortunately, the price tag is not something that looks to inviting – and when you factor in the rather obscene shipping costs, Nexus 7 owners might want to think twice. After all, the Nexus 7 itself is a looker, so a sleeve might cramp your style, if you know what I mean. The new sleeve itself will cost $29.99 a pop, not to mention a whopping $17.68 in shipping costs where standard shipping times apply. Ouch! Not only that, while this might be the first sleeve to roll out for the Nexus 7 on the Google Play store, you can bet your bottom, hard earned dollar that it will far from the last! Now for us to sit back and wait for a deluge of color options to arrive in due time.

GearZap.com – Great online accessories shop – we reviewed a couple of their offerings

GearZap.com - Great online accessories shop - we reviewed a couple of their offerings

We would like to introduce an online gadget store, GearZap.com, from the UK that sells various kinds of smartphone and computer accessories. They were nice enough to send us 2 products as samples: a 13 inch MacBook retina sleeve and an iPhone hard case. We put to these to use and would like to share our thoughts.

GearZap.com can deliver outside of the UK (delivery within European countries is from £2.99; outside the European Union is from £3.50).

Feedback on GearZap.com that we got from friends of ours was that they are professional, prompt and very easy to work with. Our own experience was the same. And with the variety of accessories that they offer for sale, we would recommended taking a look at GearZap.com if you need some accessories.

    – 13 Inch MacBook case

    Model: LA robe MacBook Air

    Color: black/wasabi

    Material: low resilience urethane

Review: The body is only 5mm thin and fits my 13 inch MacBook Retina very well. It feels very light and fits compact bags or bag compartments very well. I have a side compartment inside of my bag that this sleeve fits into well.

The sleeve gives a bit of a memory foam cushion feel – not too much to be bulky but just enough to give me some confidence that its protecting the goods.

Overall, I love it and won’t be changing back.

    – iPhone 5 case

Model: Sparkles Diamante Hard Case for iPhone 5

    Color: purple

Review: Yoriko tried it on her iPhone 5 and really liked it. It is a sparkling case, which in Japan, has a good chance of being a hit. Among Japanese girls, it’s popular to “Decoru” which means decorating your belongings, such as your mobile phone with a lot of small bits and bangles made from crystal, glass and other shiny, glittery material. So the look and feel is good for female users. The one negative was that once you put the case on your smart phone, it was hard to take it off. For most people, this is not a problem, but if you use your phone in an armband or something similar during exercise, this would be a drawback.

8-Bit Cases for iPhone 5 and iPad Mini: Your Gadgets Love the 80s

There’s something very appealing about giant pixels, especially when you can find them all over your gadgets. The company behind these big pixel cases and sleeves has released cases and sleeves for the iPhone 5 and iPad Mini. Now all your shiny new Apple gizmos can be retro’d out in 8-bit style.

    8 bit cases 1

The 8-Bit Bumper case for iPhone 5 looks a bit sturdier than the one for iPhone 4/4S. It’s got a back that will protect most of your iPhone from scratches as well. There’s a no-friction release system, which is nice because I can’t tell you how many times I’ve struggled getting my iPhone out of a case and putting it into another.

The 8-Bit Sleeve is available for the iPad Mini, and looks like a giant pixelated envelope. It even opens up with the same sort of flap. Just don’t try to lick this one to seal it up.

You can get the 8-Bit Bumper case for iPhone 5 from Big Big Pixel for $26.95(USD). It comes in black or white. The iPad Mini 8-Bit Sleeve costs $29.95.

n-Sert iPhone Case Offers Swappable Backs

Over the years, I’ve managed to accumulate about 7 or 8 iPhone cases. Some are broken, some are cheap knock-offs and a couple are quite nice. That being said, I’ve always have liked the style of wood cases for my gadgets. There’s something about the juxtaposition of high-tech with sustainable materials. In this case, we don’t have an actual wood case, but a woodgrain design that looks pretty real.

The n-Sert Case from Design Skinz is a case that can be customized to your liking.  The thin protective case allows you to change the look of your iPhone with a variety of interchangeable inserts like the wood pattern shown above, as well as a number of graphical patterns.

The case itself is available in matte black, white or hot pink for the iPhone 4/4S or iPhone 5 through Design Skinz’s Etsy store for $21.99(USD), including one design insert of your choice. Additional inserts are available for $7.99 each.

The idea isn’t completely original, but it makes for a good way to change the look of your phone quickly and inexpensively, and without having to buy a bunch of different cases.

Spigen Crumena iPhone 5 Leather Pouch Offers Elegant Protection, Despite Its Odd Name

I’ve never really used pouches much for my devices, but I can see the appeal. It cuts down on the bulk of a case, and leaves your gadget devoid of any bulky add-ons when you pull it out to use it. This particular leather pouch looks particularly nice.

    spigen leather pouch iphone

The Spigen Crumena pouch is made for the iPhone 5. Its makers use genuine calf skin leather, protecting your precious iPhone from harm, while looking elegant. The inside has a softer liner and a magnetic pull tab that holds your iPhone securely in place. It also makes it easier to access.

You can get the Crumena iPhone 5 pouch from Spigen for $29.99(USD) in brown, black or white leather.

Since most drops tend to happen when you are actually using your phone, I’d still like to see a holster that has enough room to accomodate one inside of a case.

Belkin iPad Mini Keyboard Case: You Knew It Was Coming

I admit that I use a keyboard sleeve with my iPad, and to be honest it makes typing on my tablet a whole lot more productive. Since the iPad Mini was released, it was just a matter of time before a keyboard case for Apple’s smallest tablet would surface.

    belkin ipad mini case

Like the larger keyboard cases out there for the orginal iPad, Belkin’s portable keyboard folio for the iPad Mini is supposed to let you type more intuitively. It also makes your iPad Mini look like a tiny netbook, albeit with tiny, but well-spaced keys, allowing touch typists to GTD, no matter where they go. It’s also got some media controls and a rechargeable battery. The folio won’t protect your iPad Mini like some of the more rugged cases out there, but it offers a basic level of protection.

It’s available for $79.99(USD) at Belkin’s online store or on Amazon for $74.99.

Twelve South BookBook iPhone Case Review: This Book Is Thick But Useful

iPhones can take plenty of abuse, but they get scratched up pretty quickly, which is one of the reasons why cases are necessary. Unlike some, I prefer to keep my phone in as good condition as possible, so when I inevitably upgrade and resell it, I get maximum value. The BookBook case from Twelve South is an interesting idea, since it combines a protective iPhone case with a wallet.

    book book iphone cover

The BookBook case is nicely designed, and fits the iPhone 4 and 4S well. There are 3 slots for credit cards and ID cards, as well as a small slip pocket for some cash. The best thing about this case is that it keeps your iPhone screen scratch-free. Unless you are very diligent in always storing your iPhone in a pocket with nothing else, it will eventually get scratched up. Thanks to its phone pocket and folding cover, this case stops this from happening. The case can also be put inside a bag or purse without any problems.

    book book iphone cover open

Personally, I like my cases minimal and simple, but when I was offered this case for review, it made me wonder if that’s really what I wanted. For me, it’s not the best fit due to its bulk. The book-like cover is a cute idea, but the overall design makes the phone a lot thicker than it needs to be. That said, if you’re looking to travel light, it does combine wallet and phone case, and that’s all some people need when they go out clubbing.

With a list price of $59.99 (USD), the BookBook is one of the more expensive iPhone cases I’ve seen. In fact, it’s close in price to some of the waterproof cases that I’ve been looking at. That said, it’s reasonably priced if you take into account the cost of both a case and a wallet.

The BookBook case is available over at Twelve South in either brown or black leather. You can also find the case At TiG on sale for just $21 right now.

Belkin iPad Mini Cases: A Little Something for Everyone

While I have to admit that I’m on the fence on whether to get the iPad Mini, I’ve been told by a couple of friends that they’d appreciate a smaller iPad because it would be easier to carry around with them everywhere. That being said, if you’re planning on getting one, you’ll need a case to protect it from bumps and scratches in your bag, and Belkin just released a couple of good ones.

Their new line of iPad Mini sleeves and covers feature an array of fabrics, patterns, and features that will go along nicely with Apple’s new mini tablet. They will definitely protect your precious new gadget (and ensure that you’re ready to resell it when the iPad Mini with Retina display is surely launched next year.)

Prices for the casese range from $29.99 to $39.99(USD) and there are currently a total of five different styles and a variety of colors to choose from.

    pomm Uncorks the iPadCorkCase

There’s no denying the fact that I’m always looking for a really good iPad case. It looks like the Portuguese design studio pomm has created a pretty cool iPad case, made up entirely of cork. I wonder if it will float if dropped into water, or if you can stick pushpins into it.

    ipadcorkcase pomm ipad cork carry

The iPadCorkCase is designed to protect your iPad (which is good I guess, because it sort of defeats the purpose to have a case that doesn’t do this.) They chose to use cork because it’s durable, versatile, has a high resistance to daily wear and tear, as well as its shock absorption and water resistant properties.

The case isn’t slim, but I guess that it needed to be this thick to do its job. While I don’t think that this case revolutionize the case industry, it is a cool looking case. The first 500 preorders can get it for €55 (~$72 USD) at pomm. Prices go up to  €60/$75 USD after that.
