HTC One Review (M8)

HTC One Review (M8)

With the introduction of the HTC One M8, HTC upgrades its flagship offering and offers a new version of its most famous phone to date. And since the original version (M7) had such a staunch -if not fanatical- following, the company has decided to double down on everything that made the One such a high-praise phone: design, performance, software and camera sensor have been improved.

I have spent a few weeks with the HTC One, and in this review, I’ll do my best to give you a clear picture of how it feels to use it in the real world and provide you enough information so that you can answer this question: is this your next phone? Let’s start with a short technical overview and move on to real-world usage. Ready? (more…)

    ZTE Nubia 5 Review

    ZTE Nubia 5 Review

In the U.S., there are several very well-known companies manufacturing popular smartphones on a regular basis. Companies like Samsung, LG and Apple are synonymous with mobile as their devices have gained in popularity over the years. ZTE is a company not many those in the U.S. are too familiar with as the company primarily offers their devices to the overseas market, but that doesn’t mean what they offer isn’t as competitive.

ZTE released its Nubia 5 a few months ago and its specs can easily compete with most of what’s currently available in the U.S. as it features a 5-inch 1080p display, a quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 13MP main camera, 2MP front-facing camera and a 2300mAh battery. This is just the tip of the iceberg as there’s more to the Nubia 5 than its high-end specs, so without further ado, let’s get into our review of ZTE’s latest smartphone.

    Samsung Galaxy Round Review

Samsung Galaxy Round ReviewWhen it was announced, the Samsung Galaxy Round has sparked a lot of interest and curiosity since it is Samsung’s first phone that comes with a slightly curved display. Interestingly, although the underlying AMOLED display is somewhat “flexible”, the phone itself is curved. There was a lot of preconceptions (if not misconceptions) about what a “curved” phone should look like, or whether it should exist at all.

Some said that it should “roll completely” (what’s the point of a stick-phone if it occupies the same volume?), while others didn’t see any value in a curve design, calling it a “gimmick”… well, if  “design” variations was a gimmick, maybe we should all wear the same shoes. After all, they all protect our feet, and that’s all we want right? Of course not… Let’s look at the Galaxy round as we would with any other phone: how does it feel? What does it do for you? How good is it in the real world? By the end of this review, you will have the answer to all these questions. (more…)

    LG G2 Review

LG G2 ReviewEver since LG introduced the Optimus G, the company has aggressively pushed the boundaries of Android handset hardware and software. The G2 can be seen as the successor of the original G, and it comes only six month after the LG Optimus G Pro, which is a large-display (5.5”) handset. With a display size of 5.2”, the LG G2 places itself somewhere between the Optimus G and the G Pro, and comes with a powerful Snapdragon 800 processor which is anywhere between 25% to 50% faster than the previous Snapdragon 600, depending on which benchmark you look at. More importantly, LG has made some important changes in the phone ergonomics with controls placed in the back, along with many user interface shortcuts and optimizations. In this review, I will tell you how it feels to use the G2 in the real world. Ready? (more…)

    Samsung Galaxy Mega Hands-On Review

Samsung Galaxy Mega Hands On ReviewSamsung has just announced the Samsung Galaxy Mega, a device that has been talked about as a rumor until now. As its name indicates, and featuring a 6.3″ display (there is also a 5.8″ version), the Galaxy Mega is even bigger than any other Samsung smartphone -even the Galaxy Note 2- and it will likely end up as being the largest smartphone available in Russia and Europe (since devices like the Huawei Mate aren’t sold there). The American version will have to wait as there is no announcement for it, yet. As Samsung Mobile leader J.K Shin puts it, the Galaxy Mega has been designed to unlock the potential of ” the bigger screen for extensive viewing multimedia, web browsing, and more”. We knew this day would come, but we didn’t know that it would come before September. We’ve got one in our hands, and here are our first impressions of the device. (more…)

    LG Optimus G Pro Review

    LG Optimus G Pro Review

With the introduction of the LG Optimus G Pro, LG is effectively attacking the large smartphone market (aka “phablets”), and it is a remarkable entry given that the Optimus G Pro is the first smartphone on the market to feature a 5.5″ with a 1080p resolution. This is not the only highlight, of this phone which also comes with a 3140 mAh battery capacity, 32GB of on-board storage (+microSD) and the latest Snapdragon S600 processor from Qualcomm.

On paper, the LG Optimus G Pro looks like a great smartphone, but how does it feel in the real world? This is the very question we will answer in this complete review of this phone, which includes a direct comparison with its most potent competitor: the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. It’s time for a deep dive into the LG Optimus G Pro… (more…)

    Samsung ATIV S Review
The ATIV S is the first Windows Phone 8 device released by Samsung, featuring quite the same hardware specifications as the Galaxy SIII and the look of the Galaxy Note 2 in a smaller and lighter chassis. The ATIV S gets the same 4.8” 720p display and the Snapdragon S4 processor as its Android-powered alter ego. On the market, this smartphone is going head to head with the Nokia Lumia 920, the Windows Phone 8 current flagship, and the HTC 8X, which delivers a slightly lower build-quality than both contenders.

The ATIV S main advantage over the Lumia 920 is its light weight and its compact form factor alongside its larger 4.8” display. However, the Lumia 920 has great advantages of its own, including the low-light camera and exclusive Nokia software. In this review, we will test the Samsung Ativ S in real-world conditions and look at the most important aspects of the phone. We will compare it to other Windows 8 phones, and we will tell you how it stands against the Nokia Lumia 920.
