SoftBank is going to release the stylish “itomaki AC Adapter” for smart devices beginning in mid-June. It is designed to look like a spool of thread, on the concept of “Japanese Simplicity”. The length of the cable is 1.5m and you can adjust the length to match your purpose by reeling it.

Sharp announced that they have produced 3 new 2013 summer smart phone models for SoftBank: AQUOS PHONE Xx SoftBank 206SH, AQUOS PHONE ss SoftBank 205SH and Simple Smartphone 204SH.

Currently, AQUOS PHONE Xx SoftBank 206SH and AQUOS PHONE ss SoftBank 205SH are under development so specs might be changed later.
Softbank announced that they will release a simple smart phone “Softbank 204SH” manufactured by SHARP and targeted to seniors. Release date is in May or later.
The 4 inch LCD display shows bigger letters and icons in order for smartphone beginners or senior to use it easily. To prevent incorrect operation, when users touch an icon they want to control, a blue circle will show up on the icon and they will feel a vibration through the tip of their finger. Other functions include an application that starts phone functionality by saying the name of the function that users would like to use (such as “camera”) and one that reads text out loud for people who have a hard time reading the text.
SoftBank will provide service for “204SH” users at a reasonable fixed monthly packet data charge of 2,980 yen.

SoftBank today revealed their new ARROWS smartphone, the ARROWS A 201F, made by Fujitsu. It runs SoftBank 4G which is their ultra-speed data communication service (up to 76Mbp).
It runs a 1.5GHz Quad Core CPU, Android 4.1, and high-def 4.7 inch HD (1,280 x 720). It also covers NFC, One-Seg, is waterproof and dustproof, Bluetooth, and infrared data communication. Softbank isn’t content with being Japan’s third largest wireless provider, so its scooping up competitor eAccess for $2.3 Billion (or $1.8 Billion, if you ask Reuters) to claim the number two slot. Bringing the other carrier into the fold will give Softbank a total of 39 million subscribers and infuse its network with 50 percent more LTE base stations. Picking up the new customers and additional LTE capacity comes at a premium, however, as the firm will purchase eAccess’ shares for roughly three times their value. Softbank CEO Masayoshi Son expects to launch a new tethering service with the aid of the new-found resources come this December. Ink on the deal won’t fully dry until February, but Son is already dreaming of the number one spot. “I never liked third place,” Son said in a statement. “We fought for No. 2, and someday, we will be No. 1.” You’ve been warned, NTT DoCoMo.
