Snake’s Voice Bids Adieu

All good things must always come to an end, and I clearly remember my first exposure to the Metal Gear Solid franchise on the PSOne, as the radio went, “Snake! Snake! Snaaaaaaaakkeeeee….!” each time I run out of lives. Well, that was the voice of David Hayter, who had for the longest time played the voice of Snake, but he will no longer do so in the future after “announcing” of his retirement from the role in a rather touching letter to fans.
David Hayter’s letter does confirm the fact that he is not involved in any way with Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Of course, David did pen down his very own disappointment, and absolutely loves his role in the Metal Gear franchise. Well, it was not his choice not to play the role of Snake’s in the upcoming The Phantom Pain (perhaps we will see a resurrected Darth Maul appear?), and who else is big enough to fill up his vocal chords?

We’ve seen an amigurumi of Old Snake before, but I like the young Solid Snake much better than that bitter – but heroic! – old fart. Which is why if I had this amigurumi I would hug it so tightly a ration would come out before I even dropped it.
But since he’s just 5.5″ tall, it’d be easier to squeeze him with one hand than give it a full CQC hug. But look at that awesomely stitched beard. And that mullet! Good thing he doesn’t have a crocheted cigarette or I would’ve given in and bought it, shipping be damned.

Metal Gear Solid Movie in the Works
Posted in: Today's ChiliFans of the Metal Gear Solid franchise of games who have been wanting to see Solid Snake on the big screen are apparently getting their wish. MGS is finally becoming a movie. There has been talk about the possibility for a while now – and it is now confirmed.
The film will be produced by Avi Arad, the producer behind many of the latest Marvel blockbusters (and a few flops too.) It’s too early for any plot details or casting news, but if they do it properly it could be a really good movie. Apparently, the film will be released by Columbia Pictures, which conveniently is owned by Sony.
It will be interesting to see how they will handle the plot for this movie, because they will want to at least make a trilogy I’m sure. The first movie’s plot will need to be perfect enough to ensure additional installments.
