Early Sonic Boom Character Designs Were “Traumatic” For The Sonic Team

Early Sonic Boom Character Designs Were Traumatic For The Sonic TeamIf you’re a fan of Sonic the Hedgehog and the Sonic franchise, you’ve probably heard that there will be a new Sonic game that will be released later this year. The title is called Sonic Boom and it will be the third and final Sega game that will be an exclusive to Nintendo.

Sure the game will be naturally getting an upgrade in graphics, as is the case with most new games, but if you have been playing Sonic games for many years and you’ve even followed the cartoon back in the day, you’ll notice that Sonic Booms’ Sonic looks a little different from the past.

Based on feedback spotted around the internet, not everyone is a fan of the new design, but gamers can rest assured that it could have been much, much worse. (more…)

Sonic 3’s Ice Cap Zone Theme Played on Floppy Drives is Totally Rad

When I was little, I was a huge Sega fanboy. Sure Mario is great and all, but Sonic was where it was at. Looking back, I’m not sure the gameplay holds up that well but you can’t deny there were some great tunes. And this is one of them, and even better on floppies.

    Sonic Lost World Trailer Revealed

It is less than 30 days away before Sonic Lost World is launched for the masses, so here is yet another trailer for you to whet your appetite. The latest Sonic Lost World trailer will provide an extended look at the game’s enemies, and they will be known as the “Deadly Six”. Not quite as evil sounding as the Sinister Six of Marvel Comics’ fame, but I guess it will do in a cartoon-like environment. The half dozen baddies that you will go up against will all come with a name that starts with the letter ‘Z’, that is, Zor, Zazz, Master Zik, Zavok, Zomom and Zeena.

There has been speculation going around that Zavok is going to be the leader among the dirty dozen listed above, since the rest of them do not seem to be archnemesis material, featuring some rather boring personalities. Of course, we could be wrong on this count, as for all you know, Zavok might just end up as the muscle of the group, and it goes without saying that without the presence of Dr. Eggman around in a direct manner, he could be the puppet master pulling all of the strings. All we need to do is wait until October 22nd rolls around and we can get cracking on Sonic Lost World on the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS.

Sonic Lost World Deadly Six Edition Receives Nights-Inspired DLC

Sonic Lost World Deadly Six Edition Receives Nights Inspired DLCFor those of you out there who has more than enough faith in the upcoming Sonic title for the Nintendo Wii U platform and has placed a pre-order for Sonic Lost World for Wii U will be greeted by a nice surprise – that you will be on the receiving end of an exclusive level and boss battles against huge, gargantuan monsters that were inspired by another Sonic Team game, namely the Sega Saturn classic known as “Nights into Dreams”. I haven’t played the latter before despite seeing ads of it in my comics back in the day, but if the graphics shown above are anything to go by, it is certainly a colorful affair.

Sonic Lost World’s Deadly Six Bonus Edition will boast of an exclusive “NiGHTMARE” downloadable content through a redeemable code that has been included with pre-orders of the title. The game’s antagonists, namely the Deadly Six (is this a ripoff of the Sinister Six from Marvel Comics?), will have beasts inspired by Nights into Dreams as their mode of transport of choice, and each time you defeat one of them, you will be able to unlock a special color power for Sonic. Alternatively, the other way to unlock this special color power would be to get it via the Wii U’s Miiverse.

SEGA Game Gear LEGO Transformer: Sonic in Disguise

Behold the evil Segacon “Gearhead” and his minions Supersonic and Knucklepunch. Baron Von Brunk created these awesome LEGO Transformers from scratch and they look amazing.

When not in robot mode, this guy transforms into a SEGA Game Gear handheld, and even has two Sonic games inside (Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic Blast).

Gearhead has battery blaster rockets attached to the shoulders and a shotgun cannon powered by Chaos Emeralds. He fully transforms without having to remove parts and converts back and forth easily.

The two minions are pretty awesome too. At first glance you might think that he used an actual Game Gear to make this, but these it’s all LEGO with some custom labels attached. Amazing work, Baron!

Sonic The Hedgehog Played From A First-Person’s Perspective

Games like Mario and Sonic were side scrolling games when they were first introduced, although their later incarnations brought a touch of 3D to the mix. You might recall a while back there was a video where the game of Super Mario Bros. was played from a first-person’s perspective, and if you thought that was cool, would Sonic the Hedgehog played from a first-person’s perspective be of interest to you? Given that Sonic involves a lot of running and spinning, we reckon a bit of motion-sickness could occur, but it’s still an interesting perspective nonetheless.

Put together by Filipe B. Costa, it basically runs through the Green Hill Zone and you get to see what Sonic could be like if it had been a first-person game. Like we said there’s a bit of running, jumping and spinning involved, so if you’re the type that suffers from motion-sickness, you might want to stay away from the video, but if you’re fine, spare a couple of minutes and check it out in the video above!
