Sonic Screwdriver Wand: Doctor Potter? Harry Who?

If you like your Harry Potter mixed with some Doctor Who, this is your lucky day. Here is a sonic screwdriver wand. You can make your own. But is it magic or science? It is both and it is amazing.

Both Harry and the Doctor would love this. It was created by Instructables contributor CabbitCastle. Someone wanted him to make a wand of the Tenth Doctor’s sonic screwdriver, so he made plans in Photoshop and used a lathe to make it. The wand box was made from poster board and foam pads, and naturally, it’s been decorated to look like a TARDIS.

Tutorials for each project are available so you can make both the wand and box. Now you are almost ready to cosplay as Doctor Harry Potter. All you need is a pair of glasses and trenchcoat.

Doctor Who Carved Crayons: Doctor Wax

The Doctor’s enemies fear the Sonic Screwdriver. There are many reasons. It gets the Doctor out of tough spots like prison cells, it can reprogram electronics, and now it can color in a coloring book. Etsy seller Carved Crayons has made these amazing carved Sonic Screwdriver crayons.

It’s the 11th Doctor’s screwdriver in case you are wondering. The artist hand-carves each crayon, and embellishes them with melted wax from other crayons to apply different colors  to them. He also has some neat Dalek crayons and even a TARDIS.

It’s almost enough to make me want to want to buy a Doctor Who coloring book. In fact I’m buying one and coloring in it. I’m too old to start growing up now.

Assemble a Cabinet at Them: the War Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver

So the Doctor Who 50th anniversary special has come and gone and it left us with some amazing memories. Like when the three Doctors were all wielding three different sonic screwdrivers. There’s also John Hurt’s memorable line of “Those are screwdrivers, not weapons. What are you going to do, assemble a cabinet at them?” And now it looks like you can already buy the War Doctor’s sonic screwdriver.

The War Doctor’s sonic screwdriver looks very weaponlike compared to the others as is appropriate. This sleek sonic is metallic and tipped in red. It is available for pre-order now with delivery in January of 2014. It is only $27.99(USD) from Entertainment Earth.

Too bad we don’t get to see more of the War Doctor, but his sonic screwdriver will live on forever.

Soft Sonic Screwdriver Blocks Drafts Under the TARDIS Door

If you are a big fan of Doctor Who, odds are you have more than a few Who themed items around your house. If it stays cold for very long in your neck of the woods, you may have one of those things you lay in front of the door to block cold air from getting in. We always called them “the draft thing” at my grandmas house.

Apparently the British call them a “draught blocker.” Draught is how they spell draft apparently; I’m honestly surprised the word doesn’t have more instances of the letter U in its spelling. At any rate, if you need to block an annoying draft this winter, you can get this stuffed Sonic Screwdriver officially known as the Sonic Screwdriver Draught Blocker.

It’s stuffed and designed to lie geekily in front of the door. The device is up for pre-order for $44.99(USD) at Bigbadtoystore.com. The draught blocker won’t ship until March. If you live in a climate like Texas – where I reside, it will be 80 degrees by March with winter chill a distant memory. I assume it could also block hot air from getting under the door.

K-9 Was the Ring Bearer at This Wedding: Here You Go Master

I can’t imagine anything neater than having a Doctor Who-themed wedding where K-9 is the ring bearer. For her wedding, Kelsie Curtis’ dad made her a replica remote controlled K-9 bring the rings to the bride and groom.

It is a pretty authentic looking K-9 too – not just cobbled together with hot glue and duct tape. But that wasn’t all. Dad also made the couple a TARDIS cake topper, made out of wood and with a pulsing light on the top. Okay Dad, that’s awesome. Just stop there and you already get the prize for coolest dad.

Nope, he wasn’t done yet. How about a sonic screwdriver cake cutter? Way to win the dad lottery.
