Sony Honami May Shoot 4K Video [Rumor]

We’ve been hearing a lot about the Sony Honami as it’s been caught playing alongside an iPhone 5, by itself, as well as an image “confirming” it’ll feature a 20MP main camera. It looks like some additional rumors are coming out today as it looks like the Sony Honami may be capable of shooting 4K video, according to a leaked presentation slide. White Sony Honami Leaked, Spotted Alongside iPhone 5

White Sony Honami Leaked, Spotted Alongside iPhone 5The Sony Honami is said to be the upcoming flagship device from Sony Mobile, and while we have heard our fair share of rumors concerning the Sony Honami, including a “masked” version that was caught in the wild, disguised so that we cannot really tell what the real deal looks like, in addition to an alleged photo snapped with the Sony Honami’s rumored 20-megapixel camera, here we are with yet another alleged Sony Honami device hanging out with the iPhone 5, sporting a shade of white and a minion as its wallpaper.

Also known as the Sony C690X if model names are your cup of tea, this would mark the very first time that a white colored version of the Sony Honami has been spotted. Just to get an idea on what its size is, check it out laid side by side with an iPhone 5. Do you think the Sony Honami is capable of pulling its weight as a flagship device for the Sony Mobile, or will it continue to remain on the periphery and let the other big boys such as Samsung and LG duke it out for the best Android powered flagship smartphone that is in the market?

Partial Sony Honami Port On Xperia Z

Much has been said and whispered about the upcoming Sony Honami (i1) flagship smartphone from the folks over at Sony Mobile, so much so that we spotted a leaked teaser image just yesterday, in addition to the possibility of an official launch this coming September 4th. Of course, there were also whispers concerning a possible 20-megapixel camera as well as a reported appearance over at GFXBench benchmarks. All of that are fine and dandy, but just in case you have recently picked up a Sony Xperia Z for yourself (which is a pretty fine phone by itself, mind you), and obviously do not have the kind of monetary capability to upgrade to the next flagship model, fret not. As you can see from the video above, it seems that the eXistenZ Ultra custom ROM (Honami’s software) is already up and running on the Xperia Z.

This particular ROM would include the entire range of Honami apps that have been leaked to date, its framework included. To call this a ‘full’ Honami port would definitely be misleading, considering how the device itself has yet to roll out officially, so enjoy it while it lasts! Would you want to give this port a go, or do not want to risk bricking your handset?

Sony’s flagship Honami smartphone sneaks into FCC’s database

Sony's flagship Honami smartphone sneaks into FCC's database

In the past, Sony hasn’t been too strict about issuing confidentiality requests when slipping its Xperia smartphones into the FCC’s database. The Honami, however, is no typical Xperia. For those unaware, manufacturers generally submit equipment to the FCC for testing shortly before the product is ready to launch on US shores — once its radios are cleared for use on the airwaves that the FCC controls, precious little stands between said product and your hands.

We’ve seen a stream of Honami leaks over the past few weeks, but none have indicated quite so clearly that it’s nearly ready for a formal debut. The filing masks all internal and external photos, but a software version entitled “s_atp_honami_1_25_1” (seen after the break) makes obvious what device we’re looking at. This, Motorola’s X, and an impending iPhone refresh? Looks like we’re in for a star-studded autumn in the handset universe.
