Sony Rep Claims PS4 Pre-Loading Feature Is Under Consideration

Sony Rep Claims PS4 Pre Loading Feature Is Under ConsiderationAccording to a tweet last week from inFAMOUS: Second Son’s developer, Sucker Punch, it seemed as though they were suggesting that pre-loading could be a feature that would be making its way onto the PlayStation 4 in the near future. However since Sony did not confirm anything, we had to take it as speculation.

However a Sony rep has since confirmed with the folks at Polygon that pre-loading is a feature that could be making its way onto the PS4 soon, although they declined to mention as to whether the feature would be part of the April update or if it would be released later. Instead the rep chose to say that the feature was under consideration, meaning that there’s no guarantee that it will arrive. (more…)

Sony PS4 Arrives In Other Parts Of Asia Before Japan

Sony PS4 Arrives In Other Parts Of Asia Before JapanBefore the much anticipated Sony PS4 is released, there has already been plenty of buzz surrounding this next generation console. In fact, we just brought you word that Sony has plans to sell a whopping 5 million units of their new PS4 consoles before the end of their next fiscal year, which is a pretty lofty target considering how its predecessor, the Sony PS3 itself, took nearly a year to achieve that particular target. Not only that, we have also heard that Sony will be holding back on some PS4 stock to prevent any shortages that might arise during the launch window. Having said that, those living in Japan will only be able to wrap their mitts around the PS4 in February next year, but for the rest of Asia, you guys are a whole lot luckier as MCV has reported from the Tokyo Game Show that the PS4 will be launched in South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan later this December, making Christmas a definitely more festive experience – if you have the dough to spare, that is.

Other than that, Sony did not offer up any more pricing details or specific launch dates for the other Asian areas. North America and Europe would benefit from the PS4 release first, arriving on November 15 and November 29, respectively.

Sony PS4 Games Can Only Access 4.5GB Of GDDR5 Memory

Sony PS4 Games Can Only Access 4.5GB Of GDDR5 MemorySony’s upcoming console, the PS4, which has already had its pre-orders sold out shortly after it went live, does seem as though it is set to be a winner in its own right by the time it arrives on store shelves, virtual or otherwise. Do expect this holiday season to be a frenzied one for sure, as the crowds do anticipate a rather strong showing by the PS4 as well as its rival, the Xbox One. Well, we have uncovered one new thing about the Sony PS4 today – it will apparently limit game developers to just 4.5GB of its 8GB GDDR5 memory total, at least according to internal development documents that Sony showed off.

Why is this so, you ask? Well, a total of 3.5GB has been set aside for the PS4 operating system, similar to how the Xbox One has decided to cordon off 3GB of its system memory for the operating system itself. Apart from that, it seems that 1GB of “flexible memory” has been made available to game developers from the PS4 OS itself, where it could be used to help boost elements of the game in some way or another.

    Sony PS4 revealed at E3 2013

It looks like the world of next generation gaming is about to take off pretty soon – at the end of this year actually, where the two behemoths of Sony and Microsoft have showed their respective hands at the recently concluded E3 2013 in Los Angeles, California. Microsoft has their Xbox One, while Sony’s latest release is a logical progression from where the PS3 left off, where the upcoming console would obviously continue with the PlayStation line, and they have dubbed it the PS4. The Sony PS4 would also be known as the CUH-1000A series, where it will initially arrive in a jet black color, and will be out later this holiday season. Folks living in the USA will be able to get one for $399, while those in Canada, Europe and the UK will have to pay the equivalent numerical figure, except in their local currencies.

The new PS4 boasts of a totally new look, where its internal design architecture has been trimmed down drastically, ranging from the optical drive to the power supply unit as well as cooling mechanism, in an effort to ensure that the body remains as slim and light as possible, all the while helping to enhance the flexibility of the design in a dramatic fashion.

With its simple and yet modern design that has been accentuated by its linear flat form factors, the PS4′s body willbe subdivided into four different sections, as though there were four blocks which have been stacked together in order to make up a single figure, complete with a disc slot, buttons, power indicator and vent that has been placed within the slim interspace which was created between the sections. There will be the usual slew of PS4 peripherals to choose from as well, where they include the stand-alone Wireless Controller for PlayStation 4 (DUALSHOCK 4) and PlayStation Camera, and either one will arrive in jet black at $59 a pop. Any takers for the new Sony PS4?

Sony Says PlayStation 4 Hard Drive Is “Very Large”

Sony Says PlayStation 4 Hard Drive Is Very LargeAre you all stoked up concerning Sony’s upcoming console, which will be the next generation PlayStation 4, or PS4 for short? Well, if you are, the nice people over at Sony have revealed that the Sony PS4 will come with a very large hard drive, definitely surpassing what we see in today’s PS3 models, as it adopts a “play-as-you-download” feature which would surely result in the need for a whole lot more storage space. Not only that, folks living in countries where it is rather difficult to get a decent and stable Internet connection would probably see far lower adoption rates of the upcoming PS4 for obvious reasons, due to the waiting and load times that has shifted from disc-based loading all the way to the speed of your Internet.

At the Game Developers Conference, Sony dropped hints on the hard drive size, but stopped short of giving out an exact capacity. This was done via Chris Norden, a senior staff engineer at Sony’s strategy team, who mentioned, “There’s also going to be a very large hard drive in every console.”

Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag Headed For PS4

Assassins Creed 4: Black Flag Headed For PS4Sure, you must have seen all two trailers of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag earlier this morning, with a story on leaked screenshots of the game sandwiched in between, but is that all the Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag that you can stomach at the moment? Hopefully the answer is in the negative, considering how we have one more bit on Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag which will definitely have you sit up and perk your ears. It seems that this title will also be ported over to the upcoming PS4 which has yet to be officially released, let alone seen.

I guess this would mean those who missed the Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag boat this time around on current generation hardware need not fret, as they should be able to enjoy the same title on next generation hardware down the road, assuming everything goes on fine and dandy, and there are no kinks that come into the way. Stories of a ported game for the PS4? This means the PS4 is very, very real.

    Sony PS4 announced

The next cycle of home console gaming (the high end side of things, of course, as Nintendo had already rolled out their Nintendo Wii U from last year onwards which frankly, was rather disappointing in terms of specifications as well as performance, once again leaning on the strength of Nintendo’s library and relatively low price point to pull it through the next round of next-gen console gaming) is set to arrive, with Sony throwing down the gauntlet with an announcement of their PlayStation 4, or PS4 for short.

The PS3 has aged gracefully over the past few years of course, but it is time for the old to go, and the new to come. According to Andrew House, CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment, “The living room is no longer the center of the PlayStation universe, the gamer is. We believe that PlayStation 4 represents a shift from thinking of a box or console.”

PlayStation 4′s lead system architect Mark Cerny has mentioned that Sony, being a company that does not rest on their laurels, have already begun to work on the PS4 shortly after the release of the PlayStation 3, with the ultimate purpose of creating a console for developers, and by developers. You will find a completely updated user interface in addition to a bunch of new features that range from an updated controller to social features which cannot be found on other consoles – or at least, Sony hopes so.

There will be a new and updated DualShock 4 controller, and the PS4 will carry an X86 processor, packed with an enhanced PC GPU, and 8GB of high-speed unified memory. The new DualShock 4 controller sports a touchpad (hmmm, a page from Nintendo’s book?), a share button, and a headphone jack. There is also a light bar located on the back of the controller that will help you identify different players, while a 3D camera on the console is capable of tracking controllers connected to the console.

When can you pick up a PS4? Sony cited a “holiday 2013″ date, so now would be a good time to start saving up for one when the time arrives.
