Hate noise pollution? Ever wished that you could turn the sound of traffic into something a little more tasteful? Well this is what the Sound Taxi set out to do. Pictured above is the vehicle itself which is a collaboration between headphone manufacturer AiAiAi and Yuri Suzuki, along with Mark McKeague who managed to turn the sounds collected into musical tracks. In case it was obvious already, the Sound Taxi basically travelled around London and collected ambient sound pollution via its roof mounted microphone. Taking that sound and with a little technical wizardry, it turns the sound collected into real time mixes which is then pumped out through the various speakers which have been installed around the vehicle. Surprisingly the sounds they managed to collect turned out to be pretty decent mixes, and oddly enough very relaxing! If you’d like to take a listen to the mixes they managed to create, head on over to the Make The City Sound Better website for the tunes!
