Soundmatters announces DASH7 Bluetooth speaker that is ultra thin

soundmatters-dash7When it comes to high quality portable speakers, there are many names out there in the market. The thing is, the selection process can be rather tricky – so why not pick one from Soundmatters? The name of the company itself is pretty self-descriptive, as Soundmatters was founded by former NASA engineer/audio legend Dr. Godehard Guenther. Recently, they announced that they will be shipping what is deemed to be the world’s slimmest, lightest high-fidelity Bluetooth Speaker, simply known as the DASH7.

The Soundmatters DASH7 happens to come in the form of an extremely flat 0.75” high wireless pocket-portable Bluetooth soundbar as well as speakerphone which will deliver huge omnidirectional sound despite coming in a thin size which will slide into the slimmest purse or jacket pocket. Is this the world’s best travel speaker? That remains to be seen, but frequent travelers who have given all sorts of different portable Bluetooth speakers a go in the past might want to check out the Soundmatters DASH7 and share their opinion on it.

Apart from that, the DASH7 will also feature a 5th generation twoofer and BassBattery for true hi-fi sound, where it is accompanied by an angled stand for direct on-axis high resolution music, which results in a great soundstage with the best stereo separation for serious music listeners. You will be able to pick it up in a choice of three colors – Vibrant Red, Arctic White, and Midnight Black.

The omnidirectional sound that it offers makes it ideal for watching movies or music videos, and it will also include a combo case and stand. The angled stand also offers even higher resolution on-axis listening, while there is a noise cancelling speakerphone that will allow you to answer incoming phone calls even while you are listening to music or movies. The asking price for the Soundmatters DASH7 stands at $249 a pop.

Soundmatters foxL DASH7 Bluetooth Speaker Slips into Your Pocket

I’ll admit that I wasn’t sold on the idea of portable Bluetooth speakers until someone actually gave me one and I tried it out for a couple of days. Since then, I use it almost everyday. Soundmatters is adding another portable speaker to their range, the DASH7, as part of their CES 2013 lineup.

The Soundmatters foxL DASH7 is pocket-friendly, so when you don’t use it, you can just stash it in your coat.  It only weighs 200g, stands about 18mm high, and comes with a compact stand for adjusting its angle. It’s also short enough when laid flat to fit in front of a tablet in a stand without blocking the screen.

It’s supposed to provide omni-directional sound when aimed upwards, but directional sound when placed on its stand. It can also connect to the Soundmatters foxLo subwoofer, if you want a little extra low-end thump. It’ll even work as a speakerphone when paired with a compatible smartphone, and has a built in microphone.

Lets Hope the Dash7 Bluetooth Speaker Doesn’t Sound As Flat As It Looks

Designing a Bluetooth speaker that’s small enough for consumers to actually want to carry everywhere, but doesn’t sound like crap, is a delicate balancing act. Jawbone’s Jambox walked the line perfectly, but it looks like Soundmatters new Dash7 leans towards a thinner form factor, hopefully not at the cost of sound quality. More »

Soundmatters' $250 Dash7 portable Bluetooth speaker to debut at CES 2013

Shortly after revealing the foxLv2 aptX Bluetooth speaker, Soundmatters is adding another member to its foxL range with the Dash 7. This pocket-friendly soundbar doubles up as a speakerphone and carries a $250 sticker, boasting pristine omnidirectional sound and also bundling an angled stand for direct on-axis listening. Tipping the scales at 200g, the Dash 7 stands just about 18mm tall and is designed to be nestled below your slate without restricting the view. The speaker plays well with the diminutive foxLo subwoofer too — a pairing that promises to add some punch to impromptu parties. The Dash 7 will come in red, white, black and silver when it lands later this month, but the core specs are currently MIA — a problem we expect to resolve as early as next week when we encounter the accessory at CES.
