Edifier e10 Exclaim 2.0 speaker system

Edifier has certainly come a long way from its humble beginnings, and this time around, if you want something that offers a decent bang for your hard earned buck in terms of an audio system, you might want to check out the Edifier e10 Exclaim 2.0 speaker system. The Edifier e10 Exclaim comes across as an active bi-amped 2.0 speaker system which merges smooth curves as well as straight lines, letting you end up with an audio system that is not only extremely pleasing on the eyes, it is also a joy to listen to. Surely this is another piece of evidence that supports the age old adage, “Do not judge a book by its cover.”

Specially designed right from the get go to be functional and yet not be too conspicuous wherever you decide to place the Edifier e10 Exclaim 2.0 speaker system, it will be equally at home when used in tandem with a notebook or desktop, placed right beside your spanking new HDTV in your living room, or even to a far more humbler experience of having it work with a smartphone or tablet device. The e10 Exclaim’s versatility and extraordinary sound ensures it is the ideal speaker system for any audio device for those who are on a rather tight budget.

Sporting full integral DSP (Digital Signal Processing) and DRC (Dynamic Range Compensation), the e10 Exclaim is said to offer superb tonal balance regardless of volume setting, and it works hard to ensure that all possible distortions remain at an absolute minimum, all the time.

For each e10 Exclaim speaker, it will be driven by its own internal amplifier, where you will get a net total of 36 watts RMS of power in order to “power” all 6 internal active speakers. Apart from that, there will be a couple of passive radiators which will be used in the midrange/tweeter housings so that efficiency and dynamic range are increased. Throw in another 2 supplementary passive radiators to augment deep bass and performance from the woofers, and chances are you will not find many questioning the relatively pocket friendly $99.99 price point.

B&O Play’s BeoPlay A9 wireless speaker gets your classy party jumping for a cool $2,699 (eyes-on)

B&O Play's A9 speaker gets your classy party jumping for a cool $2,699

B&O Play is at it again for the younger crowd with money to burn. With a TV, a hybrid iPad dock, an iPad friendly speaker system and a portable speaker already under its belt, Bang & Olufsen’s spin-off brand is ready to really get the festivities going with its new BeoPlay A9. Starting at cool $2,799, this satellite dish circular eye-catcher also doubles as a full-on 2.1 speaker system. Simply put, we’d describe its looks as a super-sized half of the BeoPlay A8 speaker dock. We’d guess the A9 stands at roughly three feet tall (legs mounted) and three feet wide based on our quick in-person look. Behind its fabric grill you’ll find a duo of three-quarter-inch tweeters and a pair of three-inch mid-range drivers, all of which get their power from independent 80-watt digital amps. Of course, the A9 brings the rumble as well, featuring an 8-inch “bass unit” that gets double the wattage of its drivers. Notably, AirPlay & DLNA are baked right in, ensuring you’ll have access to WiFi streaming across whichever platforms you prefer.

You won’t find any physical controls, but on the top-edge of its backside you’ll notice a status light and a power button, both separated by a long touch-sensitive strip that lets you adjusts the volume, or mute it completely. Below that, a pop-off cap hides a USB port for docking and charging devices and a 3.5mm jack if wireless isn’t an option, but it’s also where an admittedly unsightly power cord plugs in as well. As you can see in the photo, the A9 can be supported by a trio of wooden legs, however, it can also be wall-mounted or hung from a ceiling like the BeoPlay V1 TV — thankfully, it features three DSP presets to cope with however you’d decide to place it. As you might imagine, it’s also incredibly loud — just a duo of A9s were being used as the sound system at the large Penthouse party we were in. As such, it wasn’t an ideal environment to comment much further on its audio performance.

If it’s up your alley, expect the system to hit B&O and select Apple stores near the end of November, with your choice of a black, red, silver, green or white grill, and wooden legs in beech, oak or teak — all of which can be purchased separately. For now, you can get your own eyes-on with it in the gallery below.

Spinnaker Bluetooth Speaker System

At first glance, one might say that the $349.99 Spinnaker Bluetooth Speaker System resemble that of a shark’s fin, but upon closer inspection, you would realize that this is actually a Bluetooth speaker system with a mean design. Sleek and sexy, the Spinnaker Bluetooth Speaker System boasts of a 10W tweeter, and a 10W 2-3/4″ midrange speaker in addition to a 25W 4″ downward-firing subwoofer.

When all three combine their “powers” and work together, you can be sure that your ears will be blown away, especially when you pair it up with your notebook. Not only that, since we are more or less living the wireless lifestyle these days, it makes perfect sense for the Spinnaker Speaker System to come with Bluetooth connectivity, playing nice with Bluetooth enabled devices. Just in case some of your devices do not have the versatility of Bluetooth, you can always rely on the auxiliary input port to get the job done.
