LEGO Brick Spice Rack: Brick Oven Cooking

You can create all kinds of stuff with LEGO bricks. Then there are all of the things that you can create that look like LEGO bricks, but aren’t. Here is a clever creation for that LEGO-themed kitchen you have been dreaming of.

Spice racks are hit and miss. It seems like they are either really nicely designed, or very ugly. This spice rack is most definitely geeky. Therefore it is awesome in my book. It was made by Matthew Ebisu, who wanted to spice up his kitchen with LEGO. Very clever indeed, Matthew.

The body and the studs of this spice rack are made of chipboard and cardboard. And if you want to make one yourself, you can download the design template here. I wonder if you could make one out of actual LEGO bricks.

5.3-inch Spice Stellar Pinnacle Mi-530 hits India with a piquant 5MP front-facing camera

Spice Stellar Pinnacle Mi530 lands in India, brings in flavor with a 5MP front cam

The large phone juggernaut rolls on with word on yet another contender raising its head in India, this time from the Spice stable. While the headline-grabbing 5-megapixel front camera may not be a world first, the Stellar Pinnacle Mi-530 rocks some decent specs for its Rs 13,999 ($260) asking price. The 5.3-inch qHD (960 x 540) IPS display hides a 1.2GHz dual-core chip, 1GB of RAM, 16GB storage, a microSD slot, dual-SIM support and an 8-megapixel rear snapper, all powered by a beefy 2,550mAh battery. We’d have preferred a more recent version of Mountain View’s mobile OS instead of the Android 4.0 that the smartphone ships with, but it does attempt to spice up the offering with a bunch of software tricks, including Popup Play and Direct Call. Hardly ground-breaking, but hey, at least self-portrait addicts can indulge themselves without their hands tied.

Seasoning Shakers for All Four Season(ing)s

I don’t have many spices in my kitchen cupboards, but I might start carrying more if I had these quirky plastic spice containers by Qualy that double as snow (or rather, spice) globes.

It’s a fun idea and I wonder why somebody didn’t come up with it sooner. Of course, they’re not very good for organization since there’s no space to label your spices. If you’re the forgetful type, then you’ll probably have to taste the spices in each jar every once in a while to figure out which is which. Designer Teerachai Suppametheekulwat’s concept itself is adorkably cute, and gives you free rein to have a little fun with your spices.

Fill the Christmas tree and polar bear jars with sugar and salt, while some granulated garlic might look good with the cactus since it could pass of as (extremely pungent) sand. I’m not sure what would go well with the bunny, camel, and dormant tree, but I’m sure you’ll find a relevant spice to add to each if you’ve got a lot of them in your inventory.

Qualy is based in Thailand, but you can get the shakers with the trees over at the MoMA Store for $39 (USD) – or $35.10 if you’re a member. I’m not sure where you can get the animal series though.
