DIY Spider-Man Wrist Shooters Ditch Webs for Harpoons & Lasers

Perhaps inspired by The Amazing Spider-Man 2, prop weapon maker Patrick Priebe made a couple of wrist-mounted weapons that are triggered just like Spidey’s web-shooters.

One of the weapons shoots a tiny harpoon. It also has a winch that turns it into a Spider-Man and Scorpion mashup. Get over here!

The other weapon is a Priebe staple: a laser. Both weapons have laser sights as well.

Guy Dresses up as Spider-man to Get Votes

If you are a politician, it isn’t easy to get votes these days. Everyone knows politicians are crooks. And if you aren’t, no one trusts you because of the other bad apples. I suppose you need to do whatever you can to get attention, like this guy who dresses up as Spider-Man.

That’s what 32-year old Gaurav Sharma did while running for Parliament in India. The former martial artist once worked for the Mumbai police and now he’s in politics. He hopes that climbing buildings dressed as Spidey get him some votes and win the election.

This is the right idea. I say make them work for those votes. Dressing up as superheroes and actually patrolling the streets wouldn’t hurt either. It might be nice to see a politician willing to risk his own neck for his people.

Holy crap, these bionic arms look just like Doc Ock's

Holy crap, these bionic arms look just like Doc Ock's

Designed by German engineering firm Festo, these claw-tipped, artificially intelligent arms were designed to mimic the utility and movement of an elephant’s trunk – but the resemblance to Dock Ock’s writhing limbs is just uncanny.

That Hulk poop with the fist on the end? That’s gotta hurt coming out. No wonder he is so freakin’ mad all the time. Never mind the fact that it’s green and purple. At least he’s a doctor, I suppose.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Trailer Lands: My Spidey-Senses are Tingling

The trailer for the next big super hero movie has landed. The first official trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has launched giving us an idea what Spider-Man will go through this time out. It appears that he will be fighting a much more potent enemy in the form of Electro – played by Jamie Foxx.

Since I never read the comic books, I am always curious what each of the villains can do. The trailer also hints that Peter will find out what happened to his parents this time out. The scene where Peter finds his father’s old lab is particularly interesting.

We also get a look at a bit of Rhino in a giant mech suit (and a tiny Paul Giamatti inside). I don’t want to give too much away, so check out the trailer for yourself. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits theaters in May 2014.

Spider-Man Motorcycle Helmet: with Great Power Comes Great Responsibility for Safety

If you’re a Spider-Man fan, then chances are that your Spidey senses are already tingling and your wallet already open now that you’ve seen this sweet helmet. This Spider-Man helmet is painted up super nice to look exactly like our favorite web-slinger. Doesn’t it look amazing?

It comes in the traditional red style and the villainous black version. So how much does it cost to zip down the road looking like Spidey? It sells for $525 to to $825(USD) depending on the helmet, from airgraffix, who sells all sorts of cool custom helmets. Sure, it’s an expensive helmet, but it’s not like Spidey spent that much on his costume to begin with.

As Stan Lee might say, “Remember kids, only a web-head rides a bike without a helmet.” So it might as well be the coolest helmet you can buy.

Amazing Spider-Man & Peter Parker Cosplay: Wears Whatever a Spider-Man Can

Cosplayer Todd Whalen had his pictures taken as he dressed up as two fictional characters, though you might not recognize one without the other. It’s Peter Parker and his alter ego Spider-Man! But with the help of photographer Meg Super, Todd did manage to convey a Peter Parker vibe. Plus his Spidey costume is great.

Todd also brought his wife Lisa to his photoshoot. She acted as Gwen Stacy. Todd tempted fate even more by hanging out at a bridge. Good thing the Green Goblin wasn’t around.

Spider-Man Boat: Leaves a Wake, Any Size

What does Spidey do when he tires of swinging from skyscrapers and working for the Daily Bugle? He likes to take some time away, on his speed boat. His Spidey speed boat.

spider man boat 1

The problem is, this boat makes him stick out like a sore thumb and all of the villains also have boats, so they take it to the water and battle it out in an epic Marvel-meets-Waterworld event that should really be a blockbuster movie. However since nobody is out there to see it, it really doesn’t matter.

It always ends with Spidey getting a call on his cell from Aunt May, having to head back into the city and pick up some groceries.

Spider-Man Spidey Sense T-Shirt: My Wallet is Tingling!

Spider-Man’s Spider Sense alerts him to danger and allows his body to react on its own to avoid attacks. Thinkgeek’s Tingling Electronic Spidey Sense T-shirt on the other hand only alerts you when someone – or something – is behind you. But at least you don’t have to get bit by – or look for – a radioactive spider.

thinkgeek spider man spider sense t shirt

Actually there’s nothing special about the T-shirt itself. It comes with a clip-on proximity sensor that also has motors to make it vibrate. When someone approaches at least 5ft. behind you, the device will emit a pulse, emulating Spider-Man’s power. The pulses become more frequent the closer someone is to you. Wait… is this a naughty toy?

I wonder if it will still work if you wear it under a hoodie.

thinkgeek spider man spider sense t shirt 3You can pre-order the t-shirt from ThinkGeek for $40 (USD). It won’t be released until October, but I have a feeling it’ll be sold out way before then. I bet tinkerers will be selling replicas of the gadget online before we know it.

3D Wooden Comic Book Cover: Hardddcover

Instructables member kevinmakes wanted to have a copy of Amazing Fantasy #15 on his wall. The problem? That’s the comic book that introduced Spider-Man to the world, making it an extremely rare and expensive comic. So kevinmakes decided to do something nearly as amazing: make a layered wood replica of the comic’s cover.

To make his awesome yet affordable piece, kevinmakes looked for a large image of the Amazing Fantasy #15 cover online, then converted it into black and white. Then he separated the parts of the image that he’ll cut into different parts or layers. He then used a laser cutter to cut and engrave the images on balsa wood and assorted veneers. Finally he sprayed it with a semi-gloss polyurethane finish.
