Splinter Cell: Blacklist Bringing Back Spies vs. Mercs Multiplayer Mode

Ubisoft has kept the Splinter Cell: Blacklist content flowing ever since they announced the game would be delayed until August 20. We recently saw a gameplay video highlighting the Ghost, Panther and Assault play styles as well as a a video highlighting what makes the Wii U version of the game so special. Today, Ubisoft has released another video which not only confirms Spies vs. Mercs multiplayer will make its triumphant return to the Splinter Cell series, but it also shows the mode in action.

As it seems to be the major theme in Splinter Cell: Blacklist, the use of light and shadow also seems to play an important role in Spies vs. Mercs mode. The video shows us a number of tools both sides will use in order to complete their objective, with the Spies being able to use smoke grenades and a cloaking ability, while the Mercenaries will rely on their motion tracker, flashlight as well as an explodable drone. Splinter Cell: Blacklist Highlights Wii U Exclusive Gameplay In New Trailer

As unfortunate as it was to hear Splinter Cell: Blacklist was delayed until August 20, we can certainly forgive Ubisoft for pushing back the game’s release date considering how awesome it’s turning out to be so far. Ubisoft confirmed earlier this month a Wii U version would also be made available, and this week, they released a new game trailer that highlights all of the unique gameplay mechanics you can expect in this version of the game.

In the Wii U version of Splinter Cell: Blacklist, you’ll be using the Wii U GamePad in a number of ways that allow you to manipulate Sam Fisher’s gadgets, like controlling drones and operating spy cameras, as well as be able to access your inventory on the fly. Players will also be able to mark their targets from the GamePad, to then execute them, which we assume would have been the result of marking them in the game. You never see anyone marking an enemy to throw them a surprise bar mitzvah, do you?

Splinter Cell: Blacklist Confirmed For Wii U To Launch On August 20

Splinter Cell: Blacklist’s release date may have been pushed back to August 20, but it looks like Ubisoft is adding one more video game console to its release schedule as a Wii U version of the game has been confirmed by the company today.

In addition to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, Wii U owners will be able to get a chance to play Splinter Cell: Blacklist on their game console of choice, and as is expected, it’ll make good use of the Wii U GamePad by showcasing “enhanced game-play features” that will allow players to use Sam Fisher’s tools, switch weapons, take out enemies and navigate environments. Splinter Cell: Blacklist Video Highlights ‘Ghost’, ‘Panther’ and ‘Assault’ Play Styles

Splinter Cell: Blacklist may have been delayed until August 20, but that just gives Ubisoft more time to tease us with additional information and gameplay videos of the game in action.

A new 8-minute long gameplay video was released today by Ubisoft that takes us on a guided tour with Splinter Cell: Blacklist’s game director, Patrick Redding. The video takes Sam Fisher through an abandoned mill showing multiple routes and additional methods he can take to make his way through. Splinter Cell: Blacklist Delayed Until 20th August 2013

Splinter Cell Blacklist August 20 Delay Splinter Cell: Blacklist Delayed Until 20th August 20132013 looks like a good year for games with titles such as Gears of War: Judgement, BioShock: Infinite and Grand Theft Auto V, which is why it is not surprising that Ubisoft has decided to delay the launch of Splinter Cell: Blacklist until the 20th of August 2013. Of course this is pure speculation, but given that those titles carry a hefty amount of weight behind them, especially Grand Theft Auto V, it wouldn’t be a stretch of the imagination if that was indeed Ubisoft’s strategy. Splinter Cell: Blacklist will be arriving for the usual platforms such as Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and the PC. Unfortunately there is no word on whether it will be launching on the Nintendo Wii U, although at one point it was rumored that it was but until today there has not been any official word on the matter. In any case we guess this is bad news for gamers looking forward to the game, but in the meantime we guess there are plenty of other games being released that you could probably occupy your time with until then!

11 minute Splinter Cell: Blacklist gameplay footage released by Ubisoft

During E3 back in June, Ubisoft gave players a glimpse of their upcoming game, Splinter Cell: Blacklist. It was basically a seven minute long gameplay video and if you couldn’t get enough and  wanted more, you’re in luck as Ubisoft has since released another gameplay video, this time totaling 11 minutes in duration! However it should be noted that this is essentially the same mission that Ubisoft is running us through, with the main difference being that in the extra four minutes, a UAV mini sequence is shown along with an extraction scenario towards the end. So if the upcoming Splinter Cell: Blacklist is a game you’re looking forward to, hopefully this 11 minute gameplay video will be able to whet your appetite for the time being! The game is scheduled for a release in the Spring of 2013 on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and the PC although no specific dates were mentioned.
