Samsung Galaxy S5 Fingerprint Scanner Already Hacked!

It might have taken some extra time, but Samsung quickly adopted biometric security on their new S5 flagship Android phone. However, it didn’t take hackers long to figure out a way to defeat it.

Apparently, the fingerprint scanner of the S5 isn’t hard to spoof. SRLabs have been able to spoof it using a lifted print. It took them only a few minutes to create a dummy finger to allow them access to the phone. This is also true of the scanner on the iPhone 5s, however the iPhone 5s has got a password to allow access to the scanner, which the Galaxy S5 doesn’t have yet.

Hopefully, a quick software update will patch this vulnerability. PayPal has already reacted with a statement, saying that there are plenty of additional safeguards that will allow users peace of mind when using biometric security. With any luck, your money is still safe.

Realistic Facebook Security Simulator: Can You Keep Up?

One thing so many users complain about Facebook is its privacy settings – or lack of consistency thereof. The social network’s privacy policy has been changed and updated so many times over the last few years that I’m not sure what parts of my profile I can fully hide or control anymore.

Spotting the humor in the whole situation are the folks behind the Realistic Facebook Security Simulator. The fact that it’s got the word “realistic” in the title means that it’s not.

Basically, you’re tasked with answering a series of questions regarding what you share on the social network, and you have to answer fast because you’ve only got 20 seconds before the timer expires and new privacy settings are rolled out. The questions and answers are sometimes confusing – but maybe they made it that way to test if you’ll still know what should be done if you’re drunk or too sleepy to think clearly.

So what are you waiting for? Check the simulator now and see how well (or how badly) you’ll fare.

iMessage unofficially comes to Android, needs a big health warning (update: pulled)

DNP iMessage for Android sounds like a dream come true, but you shouldn't trust it

If there’s one thing to be learned from Apple’s mobile services, it’s that they’ll almost certainly never be supported on rival platforms. However, that doesn’t stop third-party developers from engineering their own techniques in order to break into Apple’s walled garden. A case in point: Android developer Daniel Zweigart, who recently launched a Google Play app called iMessage Chat, providing users of Google’s mobile OS with a way to communicate with iOS and Mac OS device owners via Apple’s proprietary messaging protocol. Some have reported problems getting the app to run, while others claim it works as advertised — and Zweigart has even gone to the trouble of emulating Apple’s old iOS 6 user interface to make them feel right at home. You might think that it sounds too good to be true, and you could be right.

‘My Little Brony’ Dolls: Friendship is Manly

For some reason, My Little Pony reminds me of the Powerpuff Girls. It’s probably because of their usage of bright colors or the fact that their larger-than-life fanbase includes unusual members, most notably grown-up men who probably aren’t who the shows’ producers were targeting.

My Little BronyBut there they are and here we all are. Male fans of My Little Pony are so great in number that they’ve come to be collectively known as bronies. You know, bros who love ponies.

Never being one to let something slip past them, College Humor picked up on this to come up with a new range of fictitious but oh-so-amusing line of dolls, aptly called My Little Brony. They even put together a commercial featuring the fake dolls, just for the heck of it…

LOLs aside, what do you think?

If Disney’s Princesses Texted

People are naturally fascinated with royalty. Case in point? All the attention Prince William and Kate got when they had a baby. This fascination extends beyond reality, as artwork and spoofs are often created with Disney’s Princesses as their muses.

Another one of these is this series by Tumblr user Missmaceymouse.

Texting Disney Princesses9

Here, she imagines the princesses having an iPhone and the messages that they would send to their friends and significant others. Ariel is still looking for more thingamabobs, Cinderella can’t seem to stop losing her shoes, Aurora is still a big sleepyhead, and Mulan is still, well, Mulan.

If ‘Game of Thrones’ Characters Had Online Dating Profiles

In an alternate universe, the characters from Game of Thrones are all alive and kicking. Imagine if they took a break from all that scheming and fighting and decided to live normal lives like ours.

I don’t think they’ll have much difficulty finding mates of their own, but if they ever decided to try online dating, then Team Pwnicorn has got them covered.

Game of Thrones Dating Profiles” is the newest series by Team Pwnicorn and it’s hilarious, as most of their parodies often are.

Don’t count any of the characters out, because even The Wall has a profile made up especially for him/her/it. You can check out the rest of the profiles in the gallery below.

Cat Fighter: Feline vs. Feline

When cats fight, it’s best that you steer clear and let them resolve the issue themselves. I don’t know about you, but I’m not too eager to step in between a cat fight, especially when the claws are out.

The Pet Collective put a pretty interesting twist to cat fights that you will no doubt find amusing, and it’s called Cat Fighter.

Cat Fighter

It’s a catty parody of the video game Street Fighter, and it’s excellently done, if you ask me. Instead of Ken and Ryu, we’ve got Ren and Kyu (see what they did there?) They’ve got nothing but their claws and sheer ferocity to fight their battles with.

Ken and Ryu rivalry is re-imagined on a feline level. See these Kittens hash it out in some retro SNES fashion.

Most cats probably can’t do the high jumps and backflips that you see Ren and Kyu doing, but hey, this is a parody after all.

On a side note, I find it extremely amusing to see a 5-Year Q&A journal in the center of the fighting arena, since I have the exact same one on my desk right now. Maybe I can host my own Cat Fighter tournament here when my sister visits and brings her kitties with her next week, eh?

Find ‘Hot Local Cats’ In Your Area With the Adult Cat Finder

Looking for an adult friend in your area? No? Yeah, neither am I, but that’s not going to stop those annoying ads from popping up on your screen without warning when you’re visiting certain websites.

Injecting a lot of humor and making fun of these websites is the Adult Cat Finder.

It might have a slightly alarming name that might put you off, but don’t let its name fool you. In fact, I would suggest that you take it quite literally, because this little “widget” will find you hot local cats in your area.

Check out the Adult Cat Finder yourself and you’ll see what I’m talking about.

The “service” was created by Fountain LA and it puts Kitten on a Keyboard in the spotlight.

What If Apple Had Released an Entirely Different Mac?

In case you missed it earlier this week, Apple announced a brand spankin’ new Mac at WWDC. It’s quite the departure from previous Macs but somehow ultimately familiar.

Conan O’Brien Tells Us What Everyone Uses Their iPads For

On one side of the spectrum, you have people who are using their iPads to better themselves by downloading applications that will help them learn a thing or two. On the other side of the spectrum, you have people who use their iPads for one specific thing, which Conan decides to highlight in a new spoof commercial.

Apple’s recent iPad commercials highlighting experiences only available on the iOS platform hasn’t been one of their best, but Conan thinks they’re not being honest with the public as he knows what we all use our iPads for.

If you have yet to watch the video and still don’t want the surprise to be ruined, let’s just say Conan believes the reason why people use their iPads is to take care of some urges they have that would normally be done in front of a computer. No, it isn’t playing video games or watching an unhealthy amount of cat videos, although those would probably be as embarrassing depending on the kind of people living with you.
