Samsung SPH-L520 reaches the FCC, may be a Galaxy S4 Mini for Sprint

Samsung SPHL520 reaches the FCC, might be a Galaxy S4 Mini for Sprint

We’ve only seen hints of the Galaxy S4 Mini launching in the US through AT&T and Verizon, but a new FCC approval suggests that Samsung’s mid-size smartphone could reach Sprint as well. The filing reveals an SPH-L520 device with both a Sprint-native LTE frequency and a body that’s only slightly larger than the regular GS4 Mini. That sounds like a positive ID, although we won’t make too many presumptions — this could be a carrier-specific phone that happens to sport Mini-like dimensions. If the smaller Galaxy does arrive on Sprint, though, we won’t be caught off-guard.

HTC One and One Mini ‘vivid blue’ hands-on (updated)

HTC One and One Mini vivid blue handson

HTC’s designers may soon be more famous for their expense accounts than their designs, but that shouldn’t detract from their latest color-picking masterpiece. We’ve been playing with the vivid blue HTC One and One Mini and have to admit, it’s a tough choice deciding between this and the glamour red version we saw in July. While we were there, we also asked if the company would be introducing a Mini version of the One in red, but that’s not yet confirmed. HTC is looking to hawk this as a carrier or retailer exclusive in various territories, with the official line being that it’ll land in “select markets” from Q4 — but we’re reasonably sure that Sprint’s got this one locked up for September. Keen-eyed readers will notice in the gallery below that the highlight colors are darker on the One than on the Mini, but that’s the only difference between this and the original vintage.

Update: While there’s nothing official to emerge from the US just yet, we do have official confirmation that both the HTC One and One Mini in “vivid blue” will be sold through the Carphone Warehouse in the UK. The flagship can be had on plans starting at £33, while the smaller model is available from £26 a month.

Sprint roadmap hints at blue HTC One launch on September 10th

    Image

The folks over at PhoneArena have gotten their hands on a shot of a Sprint roadmap that’ll excite fans of Mark Rothko’s “Blue” period. The document claims that we’ll see HTC’s azure-hued version of the One arrive on the big yellow network on September 10th. Which is nice, because as far as we know, that’s looking like it’ll be a slow news day.

HTC One Headed To Sprint In Blue This September 10th (Rumor)

HTC One Headed To Sprint In Blue This September 10th (Rumor)Have you watched the Smurfs 2 on the silver screen already? It was a rather disappointing outing for me, but the kids in the cinema sure as heck enjoyed themselves. The color blue is a soothing one, and depending on how it is presented, it certainly does well in the world of fashion. In fact, the shade of blue has also made the headlines recently here at Ubergizmo, where we talked about the PlayStation 4 DualShock 4 controllers arriving in magma red and wave blue shades, not to mention a 250GB blue PS3 bundle hitting GameStop this coming October 8th. Not only that, a few days ago, we did mention about spotting a blue colored HTC One in a spyshot somewhere, and here we are with a leak of an alleged Sprint road map, where it touted the presence of the blue HTC One that will carry a corresponding launch date of September 10th – which is not too far away, really.

Just in case September 10th sounds familiar to you, that is because we reported on a U turn earlier this morning, where the new iPad might or might not be launched on September 10th itself. Granted, most of the world would keep their eyes peeled on Apple’s announcement this September 10th, so just in case you are going to miss it, the blue HTC One will in all probability also make its way to Sprint on the same day.

HTC 8XT for Sprint: what’s different?

HTC 8XT for Sprint: what's different?

This summer, Sprint’s lineup of Windows Phone 8 devices increased from zero to two. The first to show up in stores was the HTC 8XT ($100 on contract), a modified version of the 8X designed for Sprint customers upgrading from old Windows Phones. Though in many ways it’s a chip off the ol’ block, there are enough differences in the hardware (and to a lesser extent, the software) that it has a personality all its own. So what exactly makes this particular handset sit apart from last year’s flagship? And does it enhance or take away from the original 8X user experience? Keep reading to find out.%Gallery-slideshow73406%

Sprint BlackBerry Q10 Releases August 30th For $199 On Contract

Sprint BlackBerry Q10 Releases August 30th For $199 On Contract

It was rumored last month that Sprint will finally launch the QWERTY keyboard touting BlackBerry Q10 on August 30th. Sprint had decided not to carry the BlackBerry Z10, which was the first device to come with BB10 OS. Instead, the carrier was rumored to carry the Q10. The rumor about its release date has turned out to be true. Sprint announced today that it releases the Q10 on August 30th. The smartphone will be available for $199.99 coupled with a two year contract from Sprint.

In the first week of August we spotted a BlackBerry Q10 touting Sprint branding. The image suggested that this device was likely to be launched soon. Back then it was rumored that Sprint was putting the Q10 through its paces, and that it would go through with the release once all tests had been run. This is the first BlackBerry 10 device to be released on Sprint, the carrier isn’t carrying the Z10. There’s no confirmation as yet if Sprint will end up carrying the Z30, BlackBerry’s first ever phablet which is expected to be released in the near future. If you’re skeptical about buying this smartphone, do stop by our BlackBerry Q10 review to get a solid idea of what this smartphone is capable of.

BlackBerry Q10 coming to Sprint on August 30th for $199.99

    DNP BlackBerry Q10 review

Whatever happens at boardroom level, BlackBerry’s still gotta shift some smartphones, and now it’s pushing one of its flagships over to Sprint. The BlackBerry Q10 will arrive on Big Yellow on August 30th with an asking price of $199.99 before tax — confirming what we learned mid-way through July. As with all new Sprint handsets, customers will be able to take advantage of the network’s unlimited data packages, unlike some other companies we could mention.
