Sprint wants to pay you to switch carrier. Between April 4th and May 8th, it’ll cover $350 of early termination fees and offer up to$300 in service credit for your old phone when you sign up to its Framily plan.

While Sprint launched their Spark service that delivered high speed capability to the masses in October last year, it seems that not all is well in Spark-land. Apparently, Sprint’s Spark data network would end up as impotent whenever there is a voice call going on. The basic premise is this – Spark phones tend to hang up when it comes to the likes of GPS navigation, Facebook, or when running other apps each time you are chatting away on a voice call.

Earlier this year, T-Mobile unveiled their latest Uncarrier plan in which the company is willing to pay the early termination fees of their customers in order to make them switch to the carrier. This offer is valued up to $650 which is $200 more than AT&T’s own offer, but now it looks like Sprint could be taking a page out of T-Mobile’s book.
Thanks to a recently leaked photo on the S4GRU forum, it has been revealed that starting on the 4th of April, Sprint will be launching their own plan in which they will be paying customers up to $650 to switch to the carrier. As you might have heard by now, T-Mobile will be updating its Windows Phone handsets, the Nokia Lumia 925 and the Lumia 521 to Windows Phone 8.1, but what about other Windows Phone handsets on other carriers? Will they be updated to the latest build of Windows Phone as well?
The good news is that as far Sprint is concerned, they are on board as well and have recently announced that they will be updating both the Samsung ATIV S Neo and the HTC 8XT to Windows Phone 8.1. Unfortunately just like T-Mobile, Sprint declined to provide us with an exact date of when they will be updating both devices, but promised it would be arriving “this summer”. (more…)

Sprint today rolled out invites for the press. It has scheduled an event on April 29th. The invite reads “hear it for yourself,” this has led to speculation that the carrier might be gearing up for the full-fledged launch of HD Voice. The invite doesn’t specifically mention what this event is going to be about though. Sprint CEO Dan Hesse will be present at the event.

The LG G2 mini was first made official right before Mobile World Congress kicked off earlier this year in Barcelona, Spain, which was unexpected since most folks expected the South Korean conglomerate to do so at MWC 2014 itself. The wait is finally over for LG G2 owners who subscribe to Sprint. Today the carrier has finally rolled out the much awaited KitKat update for the smartphone. The Sprint LG G2 Android 4.4.2 update has started rolling out, Sprint has already posted the details about the upcoming update on its website. Version ZVB brings Android 4.4.2 KitKat as well as a few bug fixes.

Two of the most highly anticipated smartphones that Android enthusiasts were looking forward to have finally be unveiled, one of them has even been released in the market. HTC One M8 was released the very day it was announced, whereas Samsung is going to release Galaxy S5 on April 11th. Developers have already got to work, trying to find ways to tinker with these new smartphones. Chainfire has already been able to root the international GSM LTE variant of the Galaxy S5. Now the Team Win Recovery Project or TWRP for AT&T and Sprint HTC One M8 custom recovery has been released, it’s even compatible with the international HTC One M8 variant.

HTC has been in the news a lot these past few days, that’s because the company has finally launched its 2014 flagship, the All New HTC One M8. Its not disappearing from headlines anytime soon. While it remains unclear if the company has any plans of launching a successor of its phablet, the folks at Sprint have released the Android 4.4.2 update for the existing model. It does look as though Sprint will finally introduce their HD Voice service across the spectrum of its network over here in the U.S., which is a sliver of good news who have been watching the situation closely considering how it is now a couple of years after Sprint first set their sights on this particular feature. Just what kind of benefits will HD Voice bring to the table? For starters, HD Voice is able to increase the dynamic range of the audio that has been transmitted over the network from the standard four octaves all the way to seven.
