Tomb Raiders First Multiplayer Pack Hitting Xbox 360 On March 19

But that isn’t stopping Square Enix from announcing its first multiplayer map pack.

Tomb Raider will be receiving its first multiplayer map pack called “Caves and Cliffs” which introduces three new multiplayer maps exclusively on the Xbox 360 on March 19. Each of the three maps in this pack will be playable within all four of Tomb Raider’s multiplayer game modes and their names and descriptions follow: (more…)

Tomb Raider Now Available On Xbox 360, PS3 and PC

Over two years have passed since the game’s first debut, and today is the day all Tomb Raider fans can finally head to their local video game retailer and say, “I’d like a copy of Tomb Raider, please.”

The lead up to today’s launch has been an exciting one as even though Tomb Raider was hit with a delay, fans were still anticipating today’s release. Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Beta On PS3

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Beta On PS3 If you happen to own the Sony PS3, then get this – fans of the Final Fantasy series will be pleased to hear that the beta of the Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is now available, and Square Enix, in a way, has said that they will not be sparing any expense in delivering the most memorable elements of the series into A Realm Reborn. There will definitely be subsequent patches of the title, where the Square Enix team intends to throw in more great stuff into the mix, and it would not be too hard to do considering how Final Fantasy has a quarter of a century’s worth of history to draw from.

It is said that adventurers are able to take on the Crystal Tower (Final Fantasy 3) raid dungeon, dance toe-to-toe (battle, actually) with classic summons including Ifrit, Titan, and Leviathan, ride magitek armor such as in Final Fantasy VI. Of course, you can also expect the due amount of moogles and chocobos to boot, and your trusty steed will not run away at the sight of battle, but rather, will revel in it, apart from being dressed up in neat costumes. Other patches down the road will see the introduction of series mainstay Gilgamesh, in addition to the fun and excitement of the Gold Saucer. Have you signed up for the beta version yet? If not, what are you waiting for?

Square Enix shows real-time rendering at PS4 event

This week the PlayStation 4 event, Square Enix’ Chief Technology Officer Yoshihisha Hashimoto spoke up about the excellence of the system as it works with their own Luminous Studio. This next-generation technology has been presented as a game-changing push for graphics and real-live action that, like many of the presentations we’ve seen today, blurs the line between cinematics and gameplay. A demonstration was shown of this engine in action with a rather odd storyline of monks with lightning powers facing off against gun-toting violence-tossers – and so very many camera angles ensued.

This announcement comes on the same day as Square Enix released info pertaining to their new title Murdered: Soul Suspect. That game will be released for the PlayStation 3 while the PlayStation 4 releases from the development company remain under wraps – for the most part.

Square Enix’ own Sinji Hashimoto, brand director for Final Fantasy, stood on stage speaking about – you guessed it – a new Final Fantasy title. While he didn’t give specifics on the title’s name nor its content, he did suggest that more information would be released at E3 2013. Tune in then!

Have a peek at the timeline below for more information on the PlayStation 4 and everything included in its release. This event has covered a collection of new games as well as some rather interesting information about the cloud gaming capabilities of the system – and showed of the controller, too!

Final Fantasy X HD previewed on the PS VITA

Square Enix has just shown off a preview of their new HD remake of Final Fantasy X. Final Fantasy X was the first game in the series to come to the PlayStation 2 and it won the hearts of many avid fans. Now to everyone’s excitement, the game will be remastered, and brought to the portable Playstation Vita. The preview doesn’t show off much, except for the main characters, Tidus and Yuna, standing alongside Bahamut and Yojimbo. While their changes seem a bit subtle, you can notice that their colors are more vibrant, and their character’s textures are much more smooth.

Final Fantasy X HD previewed for PS Vita

For those of you with a PS Vita, you can now take a trip down memory lane as you progress through the world of Final Fantasy X again. You can help Tidus find his way back to Zanarkand, you can help Yuna collect her army of Aeons, and you can help the group destroy Sin in order to bring peace to all of Spira. All of this while seeing how Square Enix has changed the game while maintaining all of the important aspects.

The remake of Final Fantasy X HD was announced around 2 years ago, and now we’re finally seeing it come to light. For those of you who don’t own a PlayStation Vita, I would suggest holding off on buying one because it seems that there are some price-cuts going around. Japan has just cut the price of its PlayStation Vita systems to only 19,980 yen, or $212. Also, if you don’t feel like playing the game on a small 5-inch screen, the remake should also be heading on over to the PlayStation 3.

We’re still not sure when Final Fantasy X HD will be released, but we may hear more about it during the PlayStation meeting on Wednesday. What I would love to hear more about in the future is if there has been any progress made for the HD remake of Final Fantasy 7. I know that that’s something fans have been looking forward to.

Dragon Quest VII sells over 800k copies in one weekend

It looks like Square Enix knows what games to re-release in order to snag the biggest amount of sales. Square Enix launched a remake of one of its popular titles, Dragon Quest VII, last weekend, and it sold well over 800,000 copies within the first few days of its launch. The period was calculated between February 7th to February 10th, meaning it only took the game 4 days to reach that sales figure. It topped the gaming charts, with Famitsu reporting that the game sold approximately 836,654 copies.

Dragon Quest VII sells over 800k copies in its first week

By now, Dragon Quest VII should be at well over a million sales. It was also speculated that thanks to the launch of Dragon Quest VII: Warriors of Eden, Nintendo 3DS sales also increased to about 45,000 above average. On the Famitsu charts, Animal Crossing: New Leaf came behind Dragon Quest with 90,652 sales, making its total number of sales 2,857,599. It is followed by Fantasy Life and New Super Mario Bros. 2, with 12,244 and 9,099 sales respectively. All of these are Nintendo 3DS games, showcasing the huge popularity of the portable gaming system, at least in Japan.

Dragon Quest VII comes fully loaded with over 100 hours of gameplay, as well as a variety of mini-games if you want to take a break from the main story line. You’ll definitely get your money’s worth when buying the game. It retails for about 6090 yen in Japan, or $65.66. Dragon Quest VII might not make it over to the United States this year. It took Square Enix 13 months to port over Dragon Quest VI, and 7 months to port over Dragon Quest V. Considering how much more added gameplay is included in the remake of Dragon Quest VII, I would consider the time frame of Dragon Quest VI’s port to be more relevant here.

Also, alongside the Dragon Quest news, Square Enix has announced that beta testing for its revamped Final Fantasy XIV MMO is going to take place on February 25th. Considering what a train wreck the first released version of the game was, who knows whether or not Square Enix can revive it, but Square certainly is trying. Square Enix also announced the final game of the Final Fantasy XIII series, Lightning Returns:Final Fantasy XIII, last month to provide a conclusion to the saga.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Beta Sign-ups Announced

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Beta Sign ups AnnouncedThe previous iteration of the Final Fantasy MMO certainly did not go the way Square Enix had intended, which is why they have recreated the game and called it “A Realm Reborn”. If you’re a fan of the Final Fantasy franchise and you believe that Square Enix should be given another chance as far as the FF MMO is concerned, you might be interested to learn that Beta signups for the game have been announced, which means that you can go ahead and register yourself if you wish to partake in the game ahead of others.

However it should be noted that this isn’t necessarily a guarantee you will get in, but it doesn’t hurt to sign up anyway, right? If you’d like to find out if you’re eligible, or read some of the fine print related to the Beta, head on over to the Beta information page. Phase one and two of the beta is expected to be related to the PC, while PlayStation 3 beta testing will take place in phase 3. For those who have been playing the Alpha, signups are not necessary but beta access is not guaranteed either.
