IKEA Kitchen Handle Hacked Into iPad Stand

While holding your iPad in your hands in typically the way you use a tablet, sometimes it’s nice to set it in a stand so you can watch movies, read recipes, or use it as a photo frame. This simple hack allows you to easily prop up your iPad on a flat surface. It’s pretty smart, and won’t cost you much.

You wouldn’t think that a curtain rod and a kitchen handle could be matched together to make an iPad stand, but Theo Gough made it work. Hot glue was used to mate them, and the stand works in landscape and portrait mode. The items used for this hack are no longer stocked at IKEA, but other similar pieces could probably be used.

This stand doesn’t just work for iPads. Most tablets will be able to fit in this minimal stand.

iPhone Dock Gives You a Hand Whenever You Need It

I sleep pretty deeply, but staring at a cold, pale, disembodied hand that holds my smartphone to stop my alarm will probably wake me up almost immediately. This smartphone stand from Harry Allen is supposed to elicit a response from anyone seeing it or touching it inadvertently in the middle of the night.

The iPhone Hand Dock is even wall-mountable for further freak-outs. I guess that it’s an interesting way of keeping your smartphone close, especially if a hand coming out of your wall doesn’t scare you too much. It’s definitely something unique that will please certain people. It’s made out of resin and marble. It was also cast from Harry Allen’s own hand.

This clever, but creepy looking smartphone stand is available from Areaware for $65(USD). You might want to start thinking of ways to incorporate these into your haunted house this October.

TidyTilt Stand: The Smart Cover for iPhones

Have you ever wanted to mount your  iPhone on your fridge? Or shrink your Smart Cover to work with your iPhone? Now you can do both thanks to TidyTilt. The stand part of this accessory is interesting, but what I find the most novel are that the magnets of the cover are strong enough so that you can mount your iPhone onto any magnetically-responsive surface.

It’s a multi-purpose cover that doubles as a kickstand, earphone cord manager, and iPhone mount. It’s definitely an interesting accessory, though it will undoubtedly interfere with your favorite case.

Elecom faucet iPad/iPhone stand

This sexy Elecom stand designed by Nendo is pretty unusual and cool. It’s not very practical, but at least it looks stylish. It’s made from polycarbonate and ABS faucet parts and is designed to look like a faucet with water flowing out of it.

It will be available in clear, black, blue and white, but there is no word price or the availability. It is certainly unique.
