1:2256 Star Wars Imperial Star Destroyer: a Direct Assault on Your Eyes

I’m pretty sure that White Tiger’s huge star destroyer will be a sight to behold when it’s finished, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s not as polished as this 1:2,256 scale model of the Imperial II star destroyer by model kit builder Cho Jin Hae aka Darth Maul. From what I can tell this seems to be based on a ready to assemble kit, but Cho Jin Hae did the painting and lighting.

While Cho Jin Hae’s model is nowhere near as large as White Tiger’s build, the lighting on it is really well done and makes the ship come alive.

Guy Building Giant Star Destroyer

Damn. This dude is building a giant Super Star Dreadnought ‘Assertor’ that is made out of hand-carved styrene and some 3D printing. You know he is serious too. Just look at the state of that room. This is why geeks should not marry until at least age 40. There are just too many cool projects to complete and we make a mess.

Right now, The White Tiger’s project is about 50% complete, but already it looks awesome. This is going to be museum-worthy when it is finished. You can see his Starship Enterprise model in the lower left, to give you an even better idea of the size.

Of course, he didn’t just create this from memory – he got a good head start thanks to this 3D model by Ansel Hsiao (aka Fractal Sponge).

Star Destroyers rock. As long they are not pointed at you anyway.

Star Destroyer Cake Will Crush Your Rebel Diet

Pew, pew, pew, pew! This Star Destroyer cake will fly over your birthday presents and tractor beam them into it’s hanger bay like so many Rebel ships. And you won’t even care – since this cake is complete awesomeness. It even lights up.

Lorenzo Wood, who has to be the best parent ever, made this Imperial Star Destroyer birthday cake for his son Alexander. This cake sits on a custom base Lorenzo made that has light up windows and even thruster flare effects. The detail is super nice, and the lights certainly beat crummy old candles, right?
