Official Star Wars iPhone 5 Cases: Episode II

PowerA’s officially licensed Star Wars iPhone 4/4S cases must have been a blockbuster, because this year the company is striking back with iPhone 5 variants of the cases.

All previous designs remain unchanged. You can still join the Dark Side of iPhone cases with the Darth Vader case, give your phone a shiny metal ass with the C-3PO case, turn your iPhone into a Droid with the R2-D2 case and have a huggable device with the Chewbacca case.

Vadering is the New Planking: AKA Your Lack of Photoshop is Disturbing

Remember when planking went viral and your social networks just exploded with pictures of people lying flat on their faces in all sorts of weird locations? Planking isn’t so hot anymore nowadays, although there’s a new photo meme that’s taking its place. It’s called Vadering, and it’s just as crazy but tons more ghastly in a geeky sort of way.

vadering

I think you can tell what it’s inspired from based on the name alone. “Vadering” is basically a meme where people do Darth Vader’s infamous force choke on others. Because no human has the powers that Darth Vader possesses, we must all resort to Photoshop to actually perform this powerful Force chokehold.

Secret Star Wars: Battlefront 3 Project Footage Leaked

Secret Star Wars: Battlefront 3 Project Footage LeakedStar Wars: Battlefront 3 is something that was meant to be, but it does not look too likely that it will ever be realized, in this age as well as the next. Still, this does not mean that we fans cannot dream or fantasize about it, and will have to make do with scraps from the table, including leaked footage of the secret Star Wars: Battlefront 3 project, also known as Version 2 from LucasArts.

Considering how LucasArts is no longer around, as the game developer is no longer the tour de force that it used to be, it has remained in existence only to function as a vehicle to license the highly profitable Star Wars property out to other developers. It looks like Star Wars 1313 is not the only project that LucasArts were working on, as “Project 2″ or “Version 2” was meant to end up as Star Wars: Battlefront 3, according to original intentions. The video depicted a fair number of Stormtroopers who hopped aboard different vehicles before blasting away to battle the pesky rebels, and there is a slew of rides in there that would send any self-respecting Star Wars fan crying, wondering why Star Wars: Battlefront 3 never made it to the finish line.

AT-AT Walker Created To Help 4-Year-Old Surgery Patient

AT AT Walker Created To Help 4 Year Old Surgery Patient

We’re sure there’s no worse feeling in the world than having a child who is ill, especially if you are a parent who finds themselves helpless to make things better for their child. But this is a story of one parent making the most out of a rough situation, which we’re sure its outcome certainly helped the ill child feel better.

Stephanie Kaloi’s 4-year-old son went through surgery recently, which resulted in his knees being completely immobilized and required him to use a walker to help him get around. When Kaloi sent an image of the walker her son was using on Instagram, a friend suggested it looked like an AT-AT, which is how this AT-AT Walker came to be. (more…)

AT-AT Walker Helps 4-Year-Old Patient Recover, Walks Right into Our Hearts

Nobody likes to see children struck down by illness. Kids are innocent and don’t deserve things like that. It is enough to break your heart. But here is an uplifting story with a geeky twist. Stephanie Kaloi’s 4-year-old son recently went through surgery and came home with his knees immobilized, so he needed a walker.

A friend suggested that it looked a bit like an AT-AT. The rest, as they say is history. Comic artist Ben Dewey volunteered his skills. As a result, the walker now has AT-AT legs and a head. It even has a control panel featuring Darth Vader himself.

So instead of being sad, this kid “walked all around our living room firing lasers at us for nearly an hour without once being scared that the walker would cause him pain.” If that doesn’t make you smile, you have a heart of stone, my friends. He will need the walker for another three weeks, but will surely be very happy about it.

This story gets better. The walker ended up on Reddit’s Star Wars subreddit, which is no surprise. William Shatner himself chimed in by saying, “Very clever! I bet he loved it!” The Captain of the Star Trek universe approves! So now it is officially a crossover story.

Bad Motivator T-Shirt is the Best Star Wars J.J. Abrams Mashup Yet

Ever since I was a little kid, I’ve been a fan of the Star Wars saga – so I was pretty excited to hear that with the Disney LucasFilm acquisition, new movies would be on the way. Of course, with J.J. Abrams behind the camera of Episode VII, the franchise could definitely go in a different direction, with more mysteries and unanswered questions as J.J. has been known for. One thing is for certain, there will be plenty of lens flare.

In celebration of the marriage between J.J. and Star Wars, designer Crackerbox came up with this hilarious mashup…

The design perfectly melds the logo from J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot production company with the little droid that couldn’t, R5-D4, as he peeps out from some tall blades of grass.

If you want it, you’d better motivate yourself on over to ShirtPunch! today, as the t-shirt only available until 11:59pm Eastern time tonight. The design is also available in hoodies, long sleeve shirts, posters, buttons, magnets, and skins for your gadgets.

Star Wars: Episode VIII script subtly teased by Peter Jackson

We already know that Star Wars: Episode VII will be making its way to theaters in 2015, but what about Episode VIII? It hasn’t been announced yet, but we already know that Disney wants more Star Wars movies in the future. However, Episode VIII may already be in the works, because Peter Jackson just showed it off on camera.

BGxu-EjCYAIvnZK

In a recent video previewing The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, Peter Jackson slipped in a quick look at what appears to be the cover of the script to Star Wars: Episode VIII. Of course, the video was posted on April 1 (a.k.a. April Fools’ Day), so this could just be Jackson’s own April Fools joke on all of the people who were carefully watching the video.

The reveal occurs at the 4:51 mark in the video, and it happens in a split second. You really can only notice it if you actually pause the video and attempt to see what it is. However, since it was on April Fools’ Day, is it just a funny little prank that Jackson pulled? Or was it a genuine slip-up on his part?

Of course, Peter Jackson isn’t involved in any Star Wars films, but it’s possible that he could be working on Episode VIII, or it’s possible that Disney and JJ Abrams share their work with Jackson, because he’s such an influential movie icon these days. Any input and advice from Jackson always goes a long way.

LEGO Shot First: Han Solo’s DL-44 Blaster Pistol

We all know Han Solo shot first, but looking at this awesome LEGO DL-44 blaster, I don’t even care. I just wish I had this sitting on my shelf – or in my waistband. It’s Han’s famous Greedo-killing blaster in LEGO form.

han solo lego blaster

It was made for the 2013 edition of the MocAthalon contest, by LEGO enthusiast Captain Infinity. I wish I had thought to build this blaster myself, but I know mine wouldn’t look nearly as good.

Captain Infinity says that he had meant to build it for a while, and the competition’s “An Elegant MOC for a More Civilized Age” category was the perfect chance to do it. He focused on fitting as many details as he could into this blaster and making the shape as accurate as possible. I think he did an amazing job.

Star Wars 1313 Production Has Been ‘Halted’

Star Wars 1313 Production Has Been Halted

Disney’s announcement yesterday of it pulling the plug on LucasArts sent shockwaves throughout the video game industry as their game development studio seemed like it was just about to take off with its upcoming release of Star Wars 1313, whose future was uncertain during yesterday’s announcement. It looks as though the news isn’t looking good for the game as a LucasFilm representative confirmed the production for Star Wars 1313 has been halted.

LucasFilm spokesperson Miles Perkins spoke to the BBC saying, “Both current Star Wars games projects have been halted.” That doesn’t necessarily mean it’s officially being canceled as a LucasArts rep spoke with Game Informer yesterday saying, “There’s always a possibility that it [Star Wars 1313] can still come out via licensing.” Considering how much work was already put into the game by LucasArts, we’re not sure if licensing the game out to external partners would be in the game’s best interest. Either way, we think you should probably plan for the worst in regards to Star Wars 1313 as it’s future certainly isn’t looking to be a bright one.
