If Star Wars Was Set in Jurassic Park

Mashing up two wonderful things into one ridiculously wonderful thing should be the constant goal of mankind. That’s how we got smartphones. And gummy bears infused with alcohols. And designer drugs. One Minute Galactica imagined what would happen if we mashed up Star Wars and Jurassic Park and they came up with Jurat-at Park. I’ve watched both movies so many times that it’s a no brainer that I would totally watch this movie. [Slacktory] More »

Angry Birds Star Wars Cloud City expansion coming up quick!

This week the folks at Rovio have teased the next expansion for the Angry Birds Star Wars series with a trip to a city in the clouds – carbonite-frozen Han Skwawking Solo included! This is the next in a long series of updates to the massively expansive Star Wars / Angry Birds crossover gaming experience, with Hoth having come before it, and several episodes in the A New Hope universe coming before that! Now it’s time to face off against Bounty Hunters galore!

If you’re an ultra-nerd like some of the writers here at SlashGear, you know good and well that the Star Wars Collectable Card Game’s release schedule appears to have been a real simple directions list for Rovio in releasing bits and pieces to the Star Wars Angry Birds game. With the first release we saw several levels inside the original Star Wars movie’s environments. Next we saw one expansion inside that first movie, then another starting with The Empire Strikes Back.

Hoth came first in this set along with a tease for Dagobah, the planet where Yoda resides and Luke Skywalker does his Jedi Training. You were able to access that level with a bit of cash or some extremely powerful Jedi skill in all-three-star winnings of the rest of the levels throughout the game. Now we see Cloud City coming up next. And if we continue to follow this lineup, we can expect not only some fantastically heaven-like environments, but bounty hunters too!

They’ve got to get here some time, and what better place to arrive than at the home of everyone’s favorite scoundrel, Lando Calsquawkington! Have a peek at the teaser video above and let us know if you’ve beaten Hoth and Dagobah so you’re prepared for this next push!

Disney mulling over possibility of Star Wars theme park

Remember back in October when Disney bought Lucasfilm for over $4 billion? Disney is looking to put that money to good use, and they’ve already announced that Star Wars: Episode VII will be making its way to theaters in 2015, but it seems the company is looking to expand the franchise even more by possibly creating a Star Wars-themed park at one of the company’s Disney parks.

According to screenshots taken from a survey that was given to season pass holders and other frequent goers of various Disney parks, the company is asking folks what they would think about a possible “Star Wars themed land at the Disneyland Resort.” Needless to say, Disney may be looking at adding a little bit of Star Wars to its parks, which would be pretty amazing.

Of course, Disney World has been home to the Star Tours amusement ride for some time now, which is a “3D, motion-simulated space flight that launches you into the world of Star Wars.” (Get a feel for it here.) However, it looks like Disney is wanting to expand on that to dedicate an entire section of one of its parks to Star Wars.

Another question in the survey asks people how familiar they are with the Star Wars series, including the characters, settings, and stories, in order to get a feel for how many of their loyal guests know about Star Wars. However, it seems like a pretty obvious question to us, and we bet that as long as Disney built such a park, people will come.

Make Your Own Boba Fett Helmet Lamp

You might think that making your own Boba Fett lamp would be expensive. Not so. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to have a good looking bounty hunter lamp.

Major League Mods came up with this awesome Boba Fett helmet lamp that can be easily built from cheap parts. In fact, it’s almost all stuff you can find at a thift store. The only thing that can’t befound at a thrift store is the RGB remote LED light bulb – unless you have some really cool thrift stores in your neighborhood.

You can see the entire build over at Instructables. After some hard work, you will have yourself an awesome Boba Fett helmet that lights up like a Mandalorian angel. Lamps don’t get better than this.

Jawa Birthday Cake: Fresh-Baked from Tatooine

Hide your droids and your money. Here comes one of those pesky Jawas. Oh wait, this cute little guy is just a birthday cake. Isn’t he adorable? At least this guy won’t try to swindle you and try to sell you a droid with a bad motivator.

Flickr contributor Fat Tony’s wife baked this Jawa birthday cake for their friend’s daughter’s birthday. I can see how he got the name, if this is the kind of thing that his wife bakes. I would be fat too.

This chocolate cake is enrobed in chocolate fondant has light up eyes made from mini party light LEDs bought from the craft store. At least your droids would be safe with this guy, though your waistline might not be.

Jedi in Scotland Propose Legislation Allowing Them To Perform Marriages

Jedi in Scotland Propose Legislation Allowing Them To Perform Marriages

After watching all of the Star Wars films too many times to remember, we’re sure you’re aware Jedis can do some pretty cool things. They can deflect laser blasts with pinpoint accuracy, use the force to manipulate their surroundings and even perform mind tricks to probably get free lunch at the Jedi Council cafeteria. But soon, they may also be able to marry a young Padawan man and wife.

A proposed legislation is up for voting in Scotland that will make it possible for a Jedi officiant to say whatever Jedi vows they share, which we’re sure something about fighting the Sith is in there somewhere. The proposed law isn’t without controversy as the Free Church of Scotland is speaking out against the bill, hoping it doesn’t pass as it could potentially spark other movements to officiate weddings. Borg Yoda Tattoo: Futile, Resistance Is

Yes, the Borg is a hive mind entity. But even so, there must be some mastermind behind the hive mind. Who could have orchestrated the attack at Wolf 359? Who is powerful enough to lead the Borg? It can only be one being. Jedi Master Yoda.

Futile, Resistance is. This Star Wars/Star Trek tattoo mashup was inked by Tara Quinn from Texas. Strangely, Yoda doesn’t look all that happy about being part of the collective. They must have caught him by surprise and used his powers to coordinate the entire Borg collective and make them smarter.

Judge me by my tatt do you? I knew that the Borg must have had help.

Was the Destruction of the Death Star an Inside Job?

Was there more to the climax of Star Wars: A New Hope than met the eye? According to the creators of Luke’s Change: an Inside Job, a fantastically clever take on another documentary you’re probably aware of, there certainly was. And come to think of it, some of the details of the whole thing were pretty convenient. I’m starting to think that maybe all this stuff didn’t actually happen…[Boing Boing via io9] More »
