Custom Double-Bladed Lightsaber Outsabers Darth Maul

Which is the sexiest lightsaber ever? Luke’s? Vader’s? Darth Maul’s? I reject that last one on principal, simply because it was in the prequels and the lightsaber battles sucked so bad. No, this custom double-bladed beauty right here is the sexiest ever as far as I’m concerned.

This weapon was completely hand-crafted by Slothfurnace, who is known for making some of the finest Jedi weapons this planet has ever seen. This blade is modeled after the saber featured in the SWTOR video game. Yep, this is the undisputed king of lightsabers in my opinion. If you’ve seen sexier, I’d like to see it.

Slothfurnace clearly knows how to make a kick-ass weapon. It’s just too bad that no one has the Jedi powers to use them in this universe. You can find more pics of the build process here.

Rare Star Wars Poster Looks Stupid, Worth Thousands

There are a lot of rare Star Wars collectibles that are worth money, but usually they are toys and costumes and the like. Some obscure items like this 1978 promotional poster you see here are also worth a lot for some reason. The poster shows C-3PO and R2-D2 carrying musical instruments. It basically looks ridiculous, but despite that, it’s expected to sell for between $5,000 and $8,000 at auction.

star wars concertThe poster was created to promote The Star Wars Symphonic Suite by composer John Williams. So why is it worth so much? Well, it’s rare to begin with and it is also signed by George Lucas. Plus it was designed by John Alvin, who made some of the best movie posters ever made like Blade Runner, E.T., and Gremlins for example.

If you have the money and like the poster, now is your chance to own it. Head on over to Paul Fraser Collectibles for more information on the auction.

Stormtrooper Latex Dress: The Empire Gets Sexy

Most girls I know avoid latex clothing with every inch of their souls, but here’s one dress some geeky girls might consider if it weren’t so expensive: the Star Wars Latex Dress. It’s every Star Wars fans’ dream dress, whether they’re female or male with a girlfriend who’s also a fan of the hit franchise.

Star Wars Latex DressWho knew Stormtroopers could be so sexy? I never imagined that I’d be using the words ‘stormtrooper’ and ‘sexy’ in one sentence, but there you have it. The dress is made by Shhh Couture Latex, who has a shop on Etsy where you can view all sorts of other latex-derived clothing, including a rather naughty R2-D2 bodysuit.

The Star Wars Stormtrooper Dress sells for $595(USD), and each dress is made to order to your exact size.

Star Wars keyboard with LCD touchpad now on sale

Star Wars LCD keyboardIf you like the keyboard that’s found on the Razer Blade laptop and wished that you could own it without having to purchase the computer, you’re in luck. The folks over at Razer are now selling the Star Wars keyboard with LCD Touchpad. Even though it has been designed with Star Wars: The Old Republic players in mind, there’s no reason that the keyboard can’t be used for other games or purposes as well. In addition to its Star Wars-inspired design, the keyboard packs a touchscreen LCD which you can use for various purposes.

Tusken Raider Pushes a Pod Racer Stroller – Why Not?

The last time we saw a Tusken Raider and a Pod Racer together, the Raider was shooting at it. That’s not the case here. Either things got so bad in the race that he ended up pushing it and refuses to give up or he’s just starting this kid off young, hoping to make him a Pod Racing champion.

This Tusken Raider is not wearing the traditional gear of his people either, unless there’s a Nike Store on Tatooine now. This custom-built Anakin’s Pod Racer baby stroller was spotted being pushed in the last leg of the “Course of the Force” race in San Diego.

That Pod Racer looks sweet though. Look how shiny it is. And the little Anakin has a lightsaber at the ready just in case any other racers try to pass him.

SWTOR executive producer resigns, layoffs at BioWare Austin reported

We’ve got some bad news coming out of BioWare Austin today, with Gamasutra confirming that Star Wars: The Old Republic executive producer Rich Vogel has resigned from the company. That’s not all though, as additional reports are claiming that the studio suffered more layoffs earlier today. It’s unclear at the moment how many people lost their jobs in this latest round of cutbacks for the Star Wars: The Old Republic team.

It’s likely that these layoffs are a part of Electronic Arts‘ restructuring plan, which was announced back in May. At the time, no one wanted to talk about how many people would be laid off as part of the plan, with BioWare and EA simply telling us that the layoffs would be necessary for the game to continue to grow. Vogel had apparently already left the company by the time today’s layoffs took place.

Vogel served as one of The Old Republic‘s main men throughout the game’s development and after its release in December, and had worked at BioWare Austin for seven years. The circumstances surrounding Vogel’s departure were not revealed to Gamasutra.

Star Wars: The Old Republic launched in December 2011 with an incredible amount of hype behind it. Gamers quickly flocked to the game, but that success was short-lived, with a number of those same players leaving the game behind not long after launch. BioWare and EA have rolled out a number of initiatives to entice old and potential players alike, including the decision to make the game free-to-play for the first 15 levels. Last month, BioWare said that it was considering taking the entire game free-to-play, but such a switch has yet to actually occur. With the announcement of these latest layoffs, however, the change to free-to-play may not be that far off.

"Help Me, Obi-Wan Kenobi, You’re My Only Hope… For a Two-Point Conversion" [Star Wars]

When it comes to Star Wars merchandising, R2-D2 seems to take the brunt of Lucasfilm’s continued attempts to cash in on the franchise. The poor astromech droid has appeared as everything from cufflinks, to bike helmets, to now a good old-fashioned American football. More »

R2-D2 now carries popcorn and drinks

The world’s most famous astromech droid – R2-D2 of Star Wars fame, who has seen Darth Vader as Anakin Skywalker back in his younger Jedi days, is an extremely resourceful astromech droid, more often than not using his logic circuits to be able to get out of sticky spots without the need for any Jedi powers. Well, this time around, we have R2-D2 being a server of popcorn and drinks, retailing for $48.95 a pop in the form of the Disney Star Wars R2-D2 Plastic Popcorn Bucket & Drink Stein Set.

Needless to say, food and drink are not included with each purchase, where you will open up R2-D2′s head so that it will reveal the space required to hold your favorite beverage, while the popcorn bucket can be detached and hung on the side when it is in use. This special edition popcorn bucket was created to commemorate the re-opening of the Star Wars attraction which happened early last month. Definitely one for the hardcore Star Wars fan, others might just want to pick this up as a novelty item.

Millenium Falcon Skirt Smuggles Some Nice Cargo

The Falcon has never looked so graceful in flight as it does while this girl is walking down the street, though it does tend to rock back and forth with every movement of her hips. Hey that’s only because she’s navigating an asteroid field of cat calls and TIE fighters.

This sexy Millennium Falcon skirt is the work of Landa Calrissian aka Jennifer Landa. You might remember her from her Death Star Dress at last years San Diego Comic-Con. This year she’s all about winning the Kessel Run and of course our hearts.

I’ve never seen anyone wear a ship so well.

Inhabitat’s Week in Green: origami Yoda, high-speed rail line and a self powered building

Each week our friends at Inhabitat recap the week’s most interesting green developments and clean tech news for us — it’s the Week in Green.

DNP Inhabitat's Week in Green origami Yoda, highspeed rail line and a self powered building

It’s been a great week for two of our favorite things over at Inhabitat: LEGOs and Star Wars. First, a group of LEGO builders from LEGOLAND Windsor built the tallest LEGO tower ever, snatching the title back from South Korea and returning it to the UK. Then, using 152,455 LEGO bricks, Rolls-Royce built a half-size replica of the jet engine that powers the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. In one of the most ingenious LEGO constructions ever built, LEGO pro Rene Hoffmeister built a barrel organ that plays the Star Wars theme song. And in other Star Wars news, we reported on the renovation of Luke Skywalker’s boyhood home in Tatooine (actually it’s in Tunisia). And finally, we shared a photo of this 7-centimeter-tall origami Yoda — the most adorable bit of Star Wars memorabilia ever made.
