E.T. LEGO Set Brings Back the 80s

I think one of the coolest things LEGO has ever done was to launch the LEGO Cuusoo website. This is the place where you can go to vote on DIY LEGO builds that could eventually become kits you can actually go to the store and purchase. Last time we talked about this was when the Goonies LEGO set turned up on the website.

This time out it’s another 80s childhood favorite of mine with an E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial LEGO kit complete with flying bicycle and little brown alien.

The guy behind the LEGO kit says it would have about 575 pieces, including the medical van, Elliott’s house, hooded scientists, Gertie, Michael, and a pack of Reese’s Pieces. There’s even E.T.’s Speak and Spell and Elliott’s bicycle, complete with a basket for E.T. to take flight in.

The kit is up on the Cuusso site right now if you’d like to vote for it. If it happens to make it through to the next round, we might be able to buy one down at the local Walmart someday.

Sloth Demands That You Vote for This LEGO The Goonies Set

You would think that LEGO would already have made a Goonies set. I mean, the movie is all about kids having an awesome adventure and so is LEGO. Well, you can help make it happen. There is a LEGO Cuusoo project for The Goonies and the possibilities are amazing.

LEGO builder Lyonsblood has created a Skeleton Scare set, a Fratelli Fracas set, and eight minifigs – including Sloth! Interestingly, the sets look like they have a lot of moving features. Man, they look great. The Skeleton Scare set especially looks good. I wish I could buy them all. Hit the link above for more images.

I’m kind of surprised that Spielberg hasn’t gotten the remaining members of the cast back together again for an adult adventure. No, that sounds wrong. You know what I mean.

If you like the idea of a LEGO The Goonies set, head on over to Cuusoo and show your support now.

E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial Blu-ray release date set for October 9th

ET The ExtraTerrestrial Bluray release date set for October 9th

Universal has finally revealed a release date for Steven Spielberg’s classic E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial on Blu-ray, which will hit shelves October 9th. In line with the box art and trailer we saw previously this Anniversary Edition Combo pack will include Ultraviolet, a DVD and Digital Copy of the flick, as well as a slew of extras including a new interview with Spielberg, behind the scenes journals, and deleted scenes from the 2002 release of the film. Curiously there’s no mention of the Spaceship Limited Edition copy that Blu-ray.com notes recently popped up on Amazon, check out a video of the case for that $139.98 package after the break as well as a standard Blu-ray movie trailer and press release. Those willing to settle for a more conventional form of packaging can pre-order on Amazon for $23.99.

Indiana Jones: The Complete Adventures Blu-ray set hits shelves September 18th

Indiana Jones The Complete Adventures Bluray set has a release date, September 18th

Fans of the Indiana Jones series already got the good news in March that the flicks are finally coming to Blu-ray this year, and now we know when. Paramount has set September 18th as the release date, and also finally revealed cover art for the set, seen above… yeah, that’s really it. No matter how cartoony it is (or how mind-numbing Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was) we’re sure some will still be lining up when it ships. For their trouble, they can expect a “meticulously restored” edition of Raiders of the Lost Ark, after a process supervised by director Steven Spielberg and sound designer Ben Burtt. This has included a 4K scan of the original negatives, as well as a revisiting to the original audio mix, with music tracks and sound effects that had previously only been used in mono upgraded to stereo surround for the 5.1 DTS-HD MA track. Check after the break for a press release with more details on the restoration and a trailer for the boxed set, or head to Amazon where the price is currently sitting at $90 to preorder.
