If you’re ever in Las Vegas, New York, Beverly Hills, or Yountville, California you must stop by Bouchon Bakery and buy a batch of their French Macarons. They’re the tastiest damned thing you’ll ever eat. So when I saw that they were making flash drives that looked like these delectable pastries, I started drooling.
Yes, I know that I cannot eat a flash drive, but it doesn’t make these brightly-colored pucks look any less appetizing. PQI’s Macaron USB Flash Drives look just like my favorite tasty treat, so I’m not sure that I could resist trying to take a byte out of my flash memory. While you definitely won’t want to dip these in your afternoon tea, they are water-resistant, dust-resistant and shock-resistant, so they might hold up to my stomach acids for at least 10 seconds before disintegrating.
No word on where you can buy these yet, but I suppose that’s a good thing, as I wouldn’t want to end up in the ER getting my stomach pumped anyhow.

That was fast. It was just a month ago that Mailbox launched its unique (if queue-ridden) email client for iPhone users, and today we’re hearing that it’s been acquired by Dropbox. While the two aren’t explicit about their plans, the Mailbox crew makes clear that a Dropbox union will help scale its client, including to non-Gmail providers and more devices. The team also isn’t shy about speculating about what could happen if Dropbox’s cloud storage was “connected” to Mailbox. We’ll just have to give the new partners some time to produce what could be an alluring software hybrid.
Update: “Sources” are suggesting the asking price was around $100 million. Which… we’ll present without comment.

We’ve some good news to share for Mountain Lion users: OS X 10.8.3 is now available for download. As you’d expect, the new software brings a number of fixes and enhancements, but in a delicious twist of irony, the most substantial may very well be for Windows users. That’s because version 10.8.3 introduces official support for Boot Camp with Windows 8, and it also brings compatibility for Boot Camp on Macs with hard drives larger than 3TB. Meanwhile, OS X users will benefit from Safari 6.0.3 and the ability to redeem iTunes gift cards in the Mac App Store by using the built-in iSight camera. OS X 10.8.3 is also said to resolve an audio stutter issue for 2011 iMacs and correct any unresponsive plugins that Logic Pro users might’ve noticed. You’ll find the complete list of improvements after the break, but while you read, you might wanna dig into that Apple menu and get downloading.

Dropbox’s redesigned desktop client brings more notifications, faster sharing and a fresher look
Posted in: Today's ChiliIn a world that’s becoming increasingly swamped with cloud storage options, it’s good to see a true, original gangster innovating like the pressure is on. In a matter of moments, Dropbox is going to launch a re-imagined desktop client — one that promises “more visibility into activity in one’s Dropbox, faster access to your files, and a brand new look and feel.” The changes here are fairly subtle, but they’re ones that power users are bound to appreciate. You’ll be able to accept invitations with less friction, see links or albums that people have shared with you, and keep tabs on what’s changed in your Dropbox. There’s also a newfangled way to share your stuff with a link, right from the Dropbox menu.
Over on the mobile side, notifications for shared folders will also show up on the latest versions of Dropbox’s iOS and Android apps (and on the web at dropbox.com/events). Keep an eye on the source link; the new download links should be live any minute.
