Hasta La Gadget!

Check out the image below and look at it closely. It’s an old and blurry image in black and white from the 60′s, but you can see clearly that is a Ford Mustang on top of New York City’s iconic Empire State building. The car was put up there as an advertising stunt to celebrate the launch of the original 1965 Mustang convertible.

If you are wondering how the car got up there, engineers took the car apart into three major chunks and reassembled it on the observation deck of the building. Ford plans to recreate this marketing stunt for the all-new 2015 Mustang convertible.

The new Mustang will be carried up the elevator as well and sit atop the observation deck of the building for two days during the New York Auto show this April. The engineers are still working out how exactly they will take the much larger modern Mustang apart and reassemble it on top of the building with only a 6-hour window of opportunity.

If you’re fortunate enough to be in town between April 16th and 17th, the car will be on display from 8am to 2am on the building’s observation deck.

Wanna give your fish a good time and give them a break from their boring lives? Replace their ordinary tank with this Pac-Man maze tank. This aquarium will keep their minds occupied. It may even give them Pac-Man fever and drive them crazy.

This fish tank was built by Instructables member antoniraj. It was created with 5 mm sheets of glass for the outside and 2 mm sheets for the maze, then it was all sealed together with Araldite epoxy glue. Dots and power pellets are optional.

If you decide to build one, you’ll just need a yellow fish for Pac-Man and the appropriately colored fish-ghosts. Unfortunately, I’m not sure how long your fish will last in this tank, but it is a fun project.

When it comes to weight loss, most experts would say that exercise and a good diet are the keys to shedding those extra pounds. Unfortunately, people have a hundred and one reasons why they can’t stop eating this, or why they can’t get on this particular workout routine. Well, complaining about being out of shape won’t help you any. But complaining while wearing this caffeine-infused top might.

Dubbed as the “Caffeine-Infused Slimming Tank Top,” the tank’s stretchy fabric is infused with micronized caffeine and brown algae. According to its product page, the former is to stimulate lipolysis, which is the natural breakdown of stored fats, while the latter is to moisturize and smooth its wearer’s skin.

Sounds pretty unscientific, but hey, it could work. At the very least, it should give you a little buzz.

Traditional sprinklers simply spread water over an area, which leads to lots of water wasted and uneven watering. Droplet wants to change all that with its eponymous robot. Instead of blindly spraying water around like Bill & Lance with a Spread gun, Droplet knows where your plants are and aims at them like Mr. Mundy in Doublecross.

When you get a Droplet, you’ll go to a web app to specify the type and location of your plants. I don’t know how exactly the web app works, just that you can go through it on a computer or a mobile device and in just a few minutes. In addition to that data, Droplet will also supposedly tap into the United States’ weather station and soil sample data to gauge when and how much water to spray. One Droplet should be able to tend to a 2700sq.ft. area.

Grow a browser and head to Amazon, where you can pre-order Droplet for $300 (USD). That’s a lot of money for a sprinkler, but when you consider its resulting water savings and positive impact on the environment I think it’s worth it.

The rise of social media networks and services have made it very easy for people to reach out and be heard. But a new iOS app called Cloak uses these very services for the opposite effect. Cloak taps into location data from the people you follow on Instagram and Foursquare. You can then flag those people and Cloak will alert you if they’re nearby. You’ll know when you need to relocate, hide or wrap up your heist.

Cloak is free for iOS devices. I wasn’t able to test it because I’m one step ahead – I don’t have a Foursquare or an Instagram account. But I think it’s worth noting because it’s a funny way of usurping social media. It would be even funnier if someone made an app that will help you stay away from Cloak users. You can call it Buzzkill.
