New Ultra Street Fighter IV English Trailer Denotes 44 Challengers

They say that variety is indeed the spice of life, but do you sometimes find yourself paralyzed, being unable to make a decision of your own simply because there are way too many choices out there for you to pick from? Take the TV for instance – have you ever watched a few shows simultaneously because you keep on flipping back and forth whenever the ads start to make an appearance? Well, with Ultra Street Fighter IV, you know that you will be spoiled for choice with a total of 44 challengers being made available for you to duke it out against one another.

In the latest English trailer, you will be able to check out some of the sleek moves delivered by Elena, Rolento, Poison, Hugo, and Decabre, opening up a whole new world of pain to your opponent. Apart from that, there is also half a dozen arenas located across the world, waiting for players to start some bone crunching and back bustin’ moves.

Elena would go after her enemies with choreographed skills and talent, while Rolento the soldier is adept with his baton and collection of explosives. Mistress Poison uses her whip to great effect, while Hugo, the giant wrestler ought to give Zangief run for his money. Decabre relies on speed and stealth to strike fellow fighters. There is no exact release date for Ultimate Street Fighter IV just yet, but Ultimate Street Fighter IV is set to hit the Xbox 360 and PS3 from June onward, while PC gamers will have to wait until August.

Street Fighter II’s Chun-Li Almost Came With A Shorter Life Bar

Street Fighter IIs Chun Li Almost Came With A Shorter Life BarStreet Fighter is probably one of the more classic arcade fighting games out there at the moment, and anyone who’s ever owned a console or stepped into an arcade has probably played some iteration of the game at some point in time. That being said, the game, much like games in the past, had its fair share of stereotypes.

In a recent post by Polygon, they dive into the fascinating and detailed history of the creation of one of the more iconic titles from the Street Fighter franchise, Street Fighter II, in which they bring to light some of the stereotypes that existed within the game. However there was an interesting portion in their report about Chun-Li that would definitely not have sat well in today’s society. (more…)

Money Matches Arrives For Super Street Fighter 4

Money Matches Arrives For Super Street Fighter 4Do you think you have what it takes to play Street Fighter and make some money from it? No, we’re not talking about professional matches where winners have the potential to walk away with thousands, sometimes even tens of thousands of dollars. Well the good news is that you can now try your hand at playing Street Fighter 4 online and potentially make some money from your wins! This is thanks to a recent partnership between Capcom and Virgin Gaming where both companies have announced their plans to make online money matches a reality.

As it stands, this will only apply to the console version of Super Street Fighter 4 and Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition. PC gamers need not apply, unfortunately. So how it works is that gamers will challenge other games on Virgin Gaming’s website, agree upon the game’s settings, and then begin the match. Upon the end of the match, gamers will have to head on back to Virgin Gaming’s website to verify the results, attach an image, and upon successful verification, gamers will then have their winning deposited into their cashier to use again or to withdraw. In a way it does sound like gaming, but apparently as this is a game of skill, rather than luck, it would seem as though this could be a potential legal loophole. So, any gamers plan to put their money where their mouth is?

Tekken X Street Fighter Apparently Still In Development

Tekken X Street Fighter Apparently Still In DevelopmentThe last we heard about the Tekken X Street Fighter game, it was back in 2013. Given that we’re now in 2014, what has happened to the game? Has it been shelved? Has it been cancelled? Is it delayed? Well the good news is that the game has not been cancelled, thanks to Namco Bandai’s 2014 release schedule which the folks at VG247 have managed to get their hands on. According to the schedule, Tekken X Street Fighter was listed as “TBC” for 2014, and while it does not really tell us anything about its status, we guess it’s good to know that the studio is still listing it and that it has not been cancelled entirely, although we’d love to hear word from the developers as to its progress.

For those hearing about the game for the first time, back in 2012, Capcom released a title called Street Fighter X Tekken which was basically Capcom’s take on the arcade fighting game feature Tekken’s roster of characters. Namco Bandai decided to do something similar with their own take and feel, resulting in Tekken X Street Fighter, although it was only until now that we have heard anything regarding its status. Back in 2013, the game’s producer, Katsuhiro Harada, reassured gamers that the game is still in development and that the reason behind the apparent delay was because Street Fighter X Tekken was still a popular title and that they didn’t want to dilute it by releasing their version too early.

Ultra Street Fighter 4 To Feature Online Training Mode

Ultra Street Fighter 4 To Feature Online Training ModeCannot get enough of the mother of all beat ‘em ups, Street Fighter? All right, I know that some of you might think that such a title is not worth bestowing on this franchise, but it generally sits well with most folks – at least from what I have observed to date. Having said that, Ultra Street Fighter 4 offers a whole lot more options when it comes to playing the game as well as ensuring you have more time to spend with it, thanks to the inclusion of the online training mode in addition to support for 3 vs 3 team matches.

Eurogamer claims that the Online Training Mode will function in pretty much the same way as that of existing training, except that you are now able to invite another player along to train. This particular move was mooted by Capcom with hopes that it will be able to “make training more exciting and encourage camaraderie.” In Team Battle Mode, it will see the inclusion of 3 vs 3 online matches, where each player will carry only a solitary life bar across multiple rounds, ensuring that you really work on your skills and reflexes to the maximum. With 44 characters and half a dozen new arenas to pit your wits in, we cannot wait to see Ultra Street Fighter 4 arrive in early June next year.
