Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Student Edition for back-to-school spotters

Ah, parents would definitely love the “back to school” season, as this would mean their little ones (no matter how old a child gets, in the eyes of the parents, he or she would still be considered as “young” or “little”) will have to return to school and get out of their hair, and a more normal pattern of living is established. No more sleeping in late for them, and neither do they have the opportunity to stay up till the wee hours of the morning – it is a life of rigorous discipline, and it is time to score those grades that are required by Ivy League universities in order to gain entry into the hallowed hallways of their prestigious educational institutions. Well, Samsung intends to ride the tide with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Student Edition.

Just what can one expect from the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Student Edition? Well, for starters, it will come with a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 tablet right out of the box, accompanied by a Desktop Dock as well as Bluetooth keyboard in order for students to create, share and store documents – apart from browsing the Web of course. Heck, a tablet is said to make life easier when one is tackling homework and needs all the possible tools in order to ace whatever exams that they, face.

Not only that, it is said that all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Now, we certainly do not want that to happen, do we? The moment one completes his or her homework, perhaps it is time to use the very same tablet to take some time off, and such recreational activities include watching movies or playing games on the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1′s 10-inch display. You can always make full use of the Samsung Media Hub or explore apps on Google Play with this tablet, and turn it into a TV remote thanks to the Smart Remote and built-in IR blaster. You can say that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Student Edition comes packed with content value, were it will include Polaris Office for homework purposes, an entire year’s worth of free of 50GB Dropbox storage, and three months worth of free of Hulu Plus for those boring moments. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Student Edition is on sale for $349.99 a pop, resulting in you saving over $100 along the way.

Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 Student Edition Bundle officially hits stores tomorrow, yours for $250 until Sept.1st

After leaking early and then being sold ahead of schedule at Best Buy, Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 Student Edition Bundle — yes, that’s really its full moniker — now has a confirmed street date. Starting tomorrow, $250 the bundle (which includes a 8GB version of the tablet finished in glossy white, a keyboard dock and USB peripheral connector) will be available for purchase until September 1st at Best Buy, Tiger Direct, Fry’s Electronics, Amazon, and Costco. Specs-wise this Android 4.0 slate skinned with TouchWiz isn’t exactly up to par with the venerable $200 Nexus 7, but it’s still a potential step up from B&N’s recently discounted Nook Tablets. Beyond that, it also stands out by packing an IR-blaster, microSD card slot and two cameras — and lest we forget to mention that this particular GTab itself is normally $250. Hit up the press release after the break if your interests are piqued enough to consider hitting the halls with this bundle.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 Back to School with Student Edition Bundle

So you are out looking for a new tablet device, but cannot really quite make up your mind? Well, you have basically two choices – one that hails from the fruity company known as Apple and runs on the iOS platform, making it the best selling tablet to date, while the other would be one that runs off the Android operating system from Google, and it comes in a myriad of form factors as well as manufacturers. Well, Samsung is back with yet another Android powered tablet, where it is known as the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 that targets students, logically calling it the Student Edition Bundle.

This special bundle would include a Keyboard Dock and an USB Adapter, without costing you any more money since it retails for $249.99 instead of the actual retail value of $349.99. This offer is good from tomorrow onwards, and will last for just a couple of weeks. The Special Edition that comes with a Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 in a unique white color should be able to rack up those fingerprints quick and fast.

Students will definitely find their fair share of benefits from the bundle, where it will include a physical keyboard that can be hooked up to the tablet itself, while the USB adapter is able to support plugging in USB thumb drives in addition to peripherals such USB mice. On the software front, you get Polaris Office pre-loaded, making the Galaxy Tab 2 the perfect device for typing research reports – or perhaps, even creating presentations, right there and then on the spot. I do wonder whether this will affect Microsoft’s plan for their Surface tablets that run on Windows 8 as well as Windows RT, depending on the type of processor for that particular Surface tablet.

Travis Merrill, Director of Marketing, Galaxy Tab, Samsung Electronics America, said, “The education market is a significant priority for Samsung, and we are very pleased to deliver a bundle that is sure to be appealing to just about any student at a very competitive price point. A busy student can achieve a PC-like setup in the dorm room, yet still pop the Galaxy Tab 2 out of the dock and slip it into a pocket for usage while on the go. It truly is the smarter way to learn.”

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 Student Edition means it is time to get back to school

It is time to get back to the humdrum life of classes, teachers, and bullies who kick sand into your face. Yes sir, I am referring to making that trip back to school after an unforgettable summer, and here we are with Samsung taking the initiative to release their Galaxy Tab 2 Student Edition tablet which will come bundled with a keyboard dock and an USB adapter without requiring financially constrained students to fork out more money than they have. This particular bundle will be good for only a couple of weeks, which means you get (on paper) $100 of additional value.

Retailing for $249.99, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 Student Edition will enable a busy student to get a setup that is somewhat reminiscent of a PC in just a short while, thanks to the included keyboard dock. Not only that, each purchase of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 Student Edition will also come with a bunch of recommended cool educational apps from Google Play to help you get started right out of the box. Powered by Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, this 7″ tablet will feature an integrated IR blaster that turns it into a potential universal remote, a microSD memory card slot, 8GB of internal memory, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, a 3-megapixel camera at the back and a VGA camera in front.

Do you think the included keyboard dock is a subtle attempt by Samsung to go up against Microsoft’s Surface tablet when those arrive later this year? [Press Release]

Best Buy sells Galaxy Tab 2 70 Student Bundle ahead of scheduele

We’d originally been tipped that Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 7 2.0 Student Edition, a $250 bundle which comes with a keyboard dock and USB connector for peripherals, would officially hit Best Buy’s shelves around August 19th, but asking nicely might score you one now. According to an email from tipster, Jason (who’s also posted details over at Phandroid’s forums), the unit was locked inside one of the store’s cages and simply asking for a price check let him proceed to checkout with nary an issue (see the photo). Despite only having 8GB of storage, a dual-core 1GHz processor and the same 1024 x 600 screen resolution of its predecessors, the slate is a solid performer — but unless you’re hell-bent on having extras like a rear camera, we’d be remiss not to mention that the Jelly Bean- and Tegra 3-loaded 8GB Nexus 7 clocks in at $200 by its lonesome. That said, it may be worth trying your luck at your local Best Buy if you’re not so concerned with top-tier specs and okay with Samsung’s variety of ICS. You’ll find the video unboxing after the break.

[Thanks, Jason]

Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 Student Edition expected at Best Buy: $249 with bundled keyboard and USB adapter

Galaxy Tab 2 70 Student Edition spotted at Best Buy $249 with bundled keyboard and USB adapter

If you’re looking for something — anything — to lessen the burden of summertime studies, then a trip to Best Buy may soon be in order. We’ve just heard from a helpful tipster that a student edition of the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 is due to be stacked on shelves around August 19th, which keeps the regular $249 selling price of the 8GB WiFi-only model but bundles a keyboard dock and USB peripheral connector. If you’ve been weighing the Samsung up against the Nexus 7 (which we’ve ranked higher in our back to school tablet guide), then factor this into your research.

[Thanks, Anon.]
