It’s true. Even if you’re dealing with the brilliant Dark Knight or fantastic Iron Man or the good times of Thor, all superhero movies pretty much boil down to the same thing: an established hero fighting a lunatic bad guy to prevent the destruction of some version of New York City with epic fight scenes and long death scenes galore. Slacktory nails this perfectly in their hilarious video How to make a superhero in 10 easy steps.
Though the world of comic book superheroes requires a suspension of disbelief, there are still rules even superheroes need to follow! Things just can’t happen when they don’t make sense! At least that’s what comic book legend Stan Lee thinks. And if he thinks like that, we should listen. Here he explains why he really hates Superman. And it goes beyond Superman being boring.
This ridiculously awesome man made version of Thor’s hammer Mjölnir is so impressive that even our most Thor-like human Chris Hemsworth would have trouble swinging it around. Though it’s not quite the weight of 300 billion elephants, it’s the closest thing to Mjölnir on Earth. That’s because it’s made from 10 separate pieces of steel alloyed with chromium and molybdenum. At its heaviest, it can weigh over 200 pounds.
In what is quite possibly the most comprehensive look at the financial cost of being Batman, Movieclips Trailers analyzed the Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy and compared Batman’s gear to current market prices to come up with the definitive price it would take to be the dark knight. The final tally? $79,237,480.98. Not too expensive for a billionaire, right?
Bruce Wayne may be on permanent vacation with Selina Kyle, but that hasn’t stopped Batman from topping YouTube’s list of most popular superheroes. Based on views and amount of content, the Dark Knight is number one, racking up 3 billion pairs of eyes on 71,000 hours of video. That’s 213 trillion hours you spent watching the antics of a flying rodent with daddy issues — or roughly 42,000 views per hour of footage. More surprising than that though, is who came in second place. It wasn’t Spider-Man (seventh with 340 million views of 7,400 hours of video) or Tony Stark (fourth with 1.7 billion views of 20,000 hours of video). If you heard thunder, you heard right. Thor has 2.1 billion views and 66,000 hours of video, but only around 32,000 views per hour of tape. What does it all mean? Mjolnir’s owner is around 33 percent less popular (views per hour) than Gotham’s First Son — and he’s a god. Ouch.
That Bats has a pair of killer video games benefiting from repeat walkthrough viewings probably helps, but we imagine clips like what’re after the break do the actual heavy lifting. If you want to see if your favorite made the cut, hit YouTube’s blog from the source link below.

Remember that scene from Batman Begins The Dark Knight where Christian Bale leaps off a building in Hong Kong, grabs his cape and the gloves Morgan Freeman made him send an electrical charge through the material causing it to firm up in the shape of a wing. Well, a material like that actually exists.
Having fun taking pictures of slushy drinks in highball glasses on perfectly distressed hardwood tables and hashtagging it #happyhour? What about posting pictures of the sky and clouds that look like every other picture of the sky and cloud and commenting how ‘this is just how I feel right now’? These are the Instagram pictures we see everyday! But that’s because we’re mere humans. What would superheroes post to Instagram?
Whenever we watch our favorite superhero movies, we can’t help but wish we had their powers. Superhuman strength, superhuman speed, superhuman ability. It all sounds so great! But in reality, it wouldn’t be always awesome like saving pretty actresses and wearing spandex. Day to day life would suck.
Man of Steel director Zack Snyder just came out and rocked our worlds at Comic-Con. Not just announcing that Batman will be in the Superman sequel — which he did with a cool-looking metallic Superman-Batman logo that drove the crowd nuts. But that was not the biggest deal.
