T-Mobile Samsung SGH-T399 “Garda” Set To Arrive Soon

T Mobile Samsung SGH T399 “Garda” Set To Arrive SoonDo you wish that sometimes, the Android smartphone family will arrive in just one or two new models per year, per manufacturer? After all, it makes life a whole lot easier to keep track of things just like the iPhone, but on the other hand, it would also mean that there would be no more “rice bowl” for the numerous Android-focused sites that have mushroomed since the first Android-powered smartphone was released. T-Mobile USA is set to launch a new Android smartphone which is manufactured by the folks over at Samsung, where it is known as the Samsung SGH-T399, which also carries the codename Garda.

Needless to say, the T-Mobile Samsung Garda will not flirt with the high end side of things, and from what we have gathered at this point in time it will run on the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system with a purported WVGA resolution display of unknown size, a 1.4GHz processor, as well as LTE connectivity. The Samsung T399 should be available from October 18th onward, and you can bet your bottom dollar that it is going to sell a whole lot less than the new Pokemon X and Pokemon Y on that day. Interested in picking up this puppy when it arrives?

Target’s Brightspot mobile service launches Sunday, starts at $35 per month

Target announces Brightspot, a prepaid mobile service for arrival on October 6th

Ever tenacious retailer Target is once again nipping at Walmart’s heels. Following the introduction of its Target Ticket video-on-demand service — a direct competitor to Vudu — the big box chain is now looking to get into the prepaid phone business with a service known as Brightspot. The MVNO is set to launch on October 6th, which will use T-Mobile’s network and serve as Target’s answer to Straight Talk. Brightspot will offer two service tiers, one for $35 that includes unlimited talk and text, in addition to a $50 plan that piles on unlimited data with 1GB of high-speed use. While Target’s offering is a bit less tempting than Walmart’s (which offers 2.5GB of high-speed usage for $45), the bullseye retailer will reward loyal subscribers with a $25 Target gift card for each six months of paid Brightspot service. Consider it one more excuse to kick your costly monthly phone plan to the curb.

T-Mobile Smartphone Upgrade Season With $0 Down On Certain Devices Goes Live

T Mobile Smartphone Upgrade Season With $0 Down On Certain Devices Goes Live

T-Mobile today announced the launch of its Smartphone Upgrade season. Under this promotion, the carrier is allowing customers to pick up certain new devices for $0 down. Customers who opt for a new smartphone under this promotion will not have to pay anything upfront, when picking up their new device. This is a limited time promotion, new and existing “well-qualified” customers as well as small business customers are eligible for it.

Customers can pick up any of the offered devices on T-Mobile’s Simple Choice Plan, since the carrier has shunned annual service contracts, there won’t be a traditional two year contract for the device. Instead, customers will have to make 24 equal monthly payments for the device that they choose. Under this promotion, the Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 2 and the LG G2 are being offered for $0 down. 24 equal monthly payments for these devices amount to $29.50, $25, $24 and $25 respectively. These monthly payments will be billed on top of the service plan charges. The Simple Choice Plan starts from $50 per month and offers unlimited talk, text as well as up to 500MB of data. The $0 down promotion is going to be available across the U.S. at participating T-Mobile retail stores as well as through the carrier’s website.

T-Mobile Galaxy Note 3 And Galaxy Gear Available Now

T Mobile Galaxy Note 3 And Galaxy Gear Available Now

T-Mobile Galaxy Note 3 and Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch are now available through the carrier’s website. T-Mobile’s retail stores should also start offering both devices today. Magenta has beaten both AT&T and Sprint to the punch. Both carriers will be rolling out the products tomorrow. Current and prospective Galaxy Note 3 and smartwatch customers can now hit up the carrier’s website or its retail stores to get their latest Samsung fix.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear smartwatch were announced last month at the company’s Unpacked event in Berlin, Germany. At this point in time, Galaxy Note 3 is the only smartphone, rather phablet, that is compatible with the smartwatch. Samsung will release a software update later this month which will bring support for older devices. T-Mobile customers will have to part with $708 if they wish to purchase the Galaxy Note 3 upfront, or they can put $199 down and make 24 equal monthly payments of $21. Qualifying customers will have the luxury of putting no money down, and making up for it by making 24 equal monthly payments of $29.50. There are no contracts or subsidies being offered for the smartwatch. Samsung Galaxy Gear will set customers back $299.99, it is sold separately and there’s no compulsion on the customers to buy it along with their new Galaxy Note.

T-Mobile And Target May Launch ‘Brightspot’ MVNO Soon

T Mobile And Target May Launch Brightspot MVNO Soon

It was back in 2010 when T-Mobile first teamed up with Target to sell its products and services through the retailer’s chain of stores in the U.S. If a recent leak from the infamous @evleaks is true, then a new partnership just might be brewing up between the two. The leak hints at the possibility of both Target and T-Mobile launching a new MVNO called “brightspot.” A MVNO or Mobile Virtual Network Operator is basically a mobile carrier that doesn’t own the wireless network infrastructure over which service is provided, it uses another carrier’s network while setting the prices for its own plans.

Since T-Mobile is going to team up with Target, this makes sense. T-Mobile is one of the four major national mobile carriers in the U.S. According to the purported SIM kit in the leaked image, a $50 plan will be offered which will provide unlimited talk and text as well as 1GB of 4G mobile data. The Galaxy S3 is highlighted on the kit itself, while other devices expected to come with brightspot include the LG Optimus F6, LG Optimus F3 and the Nokia Lumia 521. No confirmation has been received as yet from either T-Mobile or Target, but given the apparent readiness of the SIM kit, it probably won’t be long until brightspot is made official.

T-Mobile Could Offer Up Refurbished Devices As The Next Part Of Their Uncarrier Strategy [Rumor]

T Mobile Could Offer Up Refurbished Devices As The Next Part Of Their Uncarrier Strategy [Rumor]Brand new devices cost a lot of money, which is why carriers typically subsidize smartphones to make it a more affordable option to customers, although the caveat is that customers will be required to sign a two-year contract. However what if carriers were to offer up refurbished devices, which are basically used handsets that have been restored to an almost-new condition? Would that be something you’d be interested in? Well according to a fresh set of rumors, that is what T-Mobile could be planning as their next step in their “Uncarrier” strategy.

The rumors are suggesting that T-Mobile could be looking at stocking refurbished phones in their stores and offering it to customers, presumably as a lower-cost alternative to the brand new model. It is unclear how T-Mobile will keep phones in stock, or if it will just be offered whenever stock is available. The report also claims that it is possible that T-Mobile will do away with deposits on phones as well, although this will apply only to customers who are deemed to be in good standing with the carrier, i.e. no late payments, no outstanding payments, not blacklisted for whatever reasons, and etc. None of this has been confirmed by T-Mobile yet, but what do you guys think?

Sprint To ‘Wait And See’ If It Will Drop BlackBerry Devices From Stores

Sprint To Wait And See If It Will Drop BlackBerry Devices From Stores

A few days back T-Mobile announced that it will no longer be offering BlackBerry devices in its retail stores. Apart from keeping only one unit in a store for demonstration purposes, T-Mobile will only sell BlackBerry devices online to its customers. The move came amid uncertain times for BlackBerry, which is nearing a $4.7 billion acquisition and possibly losing its manufacturing partner. Sprint chief financial officer Joe Euteneur has said that the carrier will “wait and see” before it makes any decision regarding dropping BB devices from its retail stores.

Verizon, the largest network in the country, doesn’t seem to be following T-Mobile’s strategy as well. Its CEO, Lowell McAdam, said recently that the carrier’s decision about BlackBerry would depend on the wishes of its customers. It warrants mentioning here that the Big Red is one of the first carriers in the U.S. that is expected offer BlackBerry’s new Z30 smartphone. Times have been tough for BlackBerry. It recently announced a nearly $1 billion operating loss for its second fiscal quarter, much of it was accounted for by unsold Z10 inventory. The company’s new BB10 devices were supposed to turn things around, but they haven’t been able to bring back a fraction of the market share this Canadian company once commanded.

T-Mobile Believes Merger With Sprint Would Be The “Ultimate Combination”

T Mobile Believes Merger With Sprint Would Be The Ultimate CombinationIt was just last year that two major mergers were announced: T-Mobile and MetroPCS and Sprint with Japan’s Softbank. However as far as major carriers are concerned, there are still four in the US with AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint, although it could have been three if the AT&T and T-Mobile deal had gone through. In any case it seems that T-Mobiles CFO, Braxton Carter, believes that more consolidation in the US wireless market is in the cards for the future, and to that extent he also believes that a merger between T-Mobile and Sprint would be the “logical ultimate combination”.

When asked if both carriers had been talking to each other over such a possibility, Carter declined to say anything on the matter, leading us to think that if they had not been talking, he would have outright denied it. It does not mean that there is a deal taking place, but the idea that both carriers have toyed with the idea and possibility would not be a stretch of the imagination. Carter admitted that such consolidation could be hard due to government restrictions, especially in the face of the failed merger attempt by AT&T and T-Mobile, but at the same time a consolidation between Sprint and T-Mobile, usually viewed as the smaller two compared to AT&T and Verizon, would create a more competitive environment.
