T-Mobile Reportedly Rolling Out WiFi Calling Update For BlackBerry 10 Devices

T Mobile Reportedly Rolling Out WiFi Calling Update For BlackBerry 10 DevicesIf WiFi calling is a feature that you’ve been dying to get on your BlackBerry 10 device, it seems that there are a smattering of reports that T-Mobile has been quietly rolling out a 2MB update that will enable the feature on BlackBerry 10 phones. At the moment it seems that only the BlackBerry Q10 is eligible for the update and we’re not sure why it isn’t being pushed out to the BlackBerry Z10. However according to the reports, it seems that shortly after the update went out, it kind of stopped for a while, so perhaps the update was either not ready for prime time just yet, or if T-Mobile was merely doing a soft launch and waiting to hear back regarding any possible bugs before they push it out to the masses.

If you have yet to receive the update, we guess it won’t hurt if you hit up your phone’s settings to manually check to see if there are any updates to be had, but if not we guess at least for the time being, T-Mobile has paused the updates. Any of our readers out there receive the alleged update? Let us know in the comments below!

T-Mobile Nexus 4 Software Update Arrives

T Mobile Nexus 4 Software Update ArrivesFor all of you Google Nexus 4 owners out there, heads up – T-Mobile has rolled out an Over The Air (OTA) software update on Tuesday. This happens to be a lightweight maintenance update which comes at a size of just 1.8MB, and has been listed as software version JWR66Y. Basically, this particular update is all about security, so for those of you out there who have taken the opportunity to root your device, you would not be on the receiving end of the update, never mind that it takes up a paltry amount of storage space on your device. Despite that, T-Mobile still plays it safe, asking you to have at least half of your battery charge when you perform the download and installation process of the software update.

It its previous update, version JWR66V, it saw the delivery of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean to the handset. Should your Nexus 4 still be running on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, then you can be sure that you are at least one update behind to catch up with. Word on the street has it that other Nexus-named devices as well as Google Play Editions will also receive this very security fix. For those of you who have already installed the update, how do you find it treating you so far?

Sony strikes broadband deals for PS4: Orange, T-Mobile, Virgin Media and more (update: UK details)

    PS4 broadband deals

Sony knows that high-speed internet access is vital to the PS4’s success, but that level of service isn’t always guaranteed in Europe. To solve this problem, the company is striking deals for PS4-friendly internet access with a slew of European providers. Ono, Orange, T-Mobile and Virgin Media are some of the first confirmed partners. Details of the partnerships are scarce at present, although the companies involved suggest that Sony’s ISP agreements will at least cover bigger European countries like France, Germany, Spain and the UK.

Update: Virgin Media adds that it’s the only UK partner.

Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile And Sprint Unite Against Texting And Driving In Documentary

We all very well know the dangers of texting and driving – where doing both, especially when you have one hand on the wheel and the other on your handset, could prove fatal – not only to you, but to the other motorists on the road as well, as a momentary lapse of concentration could end up as a disaster. The sad part is, you still see many people flout local laws concerning driving and using your handset, and even worse, some folks take things for granted and decide to text while they are behind the wheel, and it is not even a red light to boot. Hence, it is nice to see the main four mobile operators in the US, namely Sprint, Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile (in no particular order) have joined forces to deliver the “It Can Wait” campaign against texting and driving, where you can see a documentary of it above.

This week, the documentary known as “From One Second to the Next” debuted, and it was directed by noted filmmaker Werner Herzog. Herzog said, “When you get a message while driving, it’s hard not to pick up your phone. With this film, we want to help make people more aware of the potential consequences of that action.”

T-Mobile’s CEO Attributes Surge Of Customers To Carrier’s New Services, Not iPhone

T Mobiles CEO Attributes Surge Of Customers To Carriers New Services, Not iPhone

According to recent statistics, it was suggested that T-Mobile managed to prevent at least 400,000 customers from leaving the carrier thanks in part to the company finally getting the iPhone 5 onto its network. However it seems that T-Mobile does not necessarily think that the iPhone was what helped the carrier with their recent surge of customers, and speaking in an interview with AllThingsD, T-Mobile’s CEO, John Legere, suggested that perhaps it was T-Mobile’s message and service offerings as one of the main reasons the company enjoyed a turnaround, one of them being T-Mobile’s “Un-carrier” program.

Of course we don’t expect that Apple’s iPhone singlehandedly managed to turn T-Mobile’s troubles away, although in the past we have heard of carriers losing their subscribers to their rivals simply because they were not able to offer their customers the phone they wanted, in this case it would be the iPhone. What do you guys think? Any T-Mobile subscribers out there agree that it was the carrier’s new services and plans that made you stay or sign up with them? Or was it because they started to offer the iPhone officially on their network that made you hop on board?

T-Mobile Will Soon Offer A “Whole Array” Of Apple Products

T Mobile Will Soon Offer A Whole Array Of Apple ProductsT-Mobile was the last of the major carriers in the US to offer the iPhone on their network, which according to recent figures might have saved them 400,000 subscribers from defecting to other carriers which seems to be the case with carriers that do not carry the iPhone. At the moment T-Mobile is offering the iPhone 4, 4S, and the 5, which is pretty similar to the lineup by other carriers, but it looks like T-Mobile expects to carry other Apple products in the future as well thanks to a recent statement made by the carrier’s CEO, John Legere.

Speaking to the folks at AllThingsD, Legere was quoted as saying, “I think there’s a whole array of Apple products that we look forward to carrying […] We will expand what we offer from them.” While it is unclear as to what exactly he means by this, some have taken this to mean that T-Mobile could soon be offering up iPads as well, which is what carriers such as AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint are doing at the moment, unless of course T-Mobile is hinting at some kind of future secret Apple product related to mobile (which we don’t think that’s the case). What do you guys think? Anyone interested in getting a 3G/4G iPad from T-Mobile?

Werner Herzog directs documentary on dangers of texting and driving for It Can Wait campaign

Werner Herzog directs documentary on dangers of texting and driving for It Can Wait campaign

AT&T recently recruited none other than Werner Herzog to direct some short videos for the “It Can Wait” campaign to curb texting and driving, but their collaboration hasn’t ended there. The campaign, which also has the backing of Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile, has today released a 35-minute documentary by the legendary German filmmaker that delves further into the first-hand accounts of texting and driving dangers seen in the 30-second spots. Titled “From One Second to the Next,” the documentary is freely available online, and is also being distributed to more than 40,000 high schools and number of safety organizations and government agencies in the US.

As the Canadian Press reports, Herzog said that the project “immediately clicked and connected inside of me” when AT&T proposed it to him, adding, “there’s a completely new culture out there. I’m not a participant of texting and driving — or texting at all — but I see there’s something going on in civilization which is coming with great vehemence at us.” You can watch the full documentary after the break or on the It Can Wait website.

LG G2 confirmed to arrive on Three and O2 in the UK

LG G2 confirmed to arrive on Three and O2 in the UK

Following the formal reveal of the LG G2 yesterday, UK network Three was quick to report its plan to offer the handset “soon,” so we thought we’d follow up with all the other major providers to see where else you’ll eventually be able to find one. O2 is also on board, although it would only commit to a vague release window of “later this year.” Vodafone said it currently has no plans to offer the G2, and while EE has “nothing to announce,” we couldn’t get any assurance that it wouldn’t show up on its 4G network, or on the Orange or T-Mobile brands. Retailer Carphone Warehouse has put a tentative October arrival date on its website, and although we’re still waiting on a response from Phones 4U, you’ll more than likely be able to find it there, too. So, if you’ve developed a particular taste for the slim bezel design and quirky button placement, you’ll have at least a few options come launch time.
