Subscribers Launch Petition Urging Verizon To Drop Wireless Contracts

Subscribers Launch Petition Urging Verizon To Drop Wireless Contracts

T-Mobile recently announced its Un-carrier plans which will not tie the carrier’s subscriber to a wireless contract. Soon after that Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam said that they would be willing to drop wireless contracts if subscribers showed interest. Verizon subscribers sure look determined to hold him to his word, they’ve now launched an online petition urging the carrier to do away with contracts for good. As of this writing the petition has amassed over 74,777 signatures and needs only 223 more to reach its cap.

Verizon is yet to release an official comment regarding this petition. It was launched on Change.org by one Mike Beauchamp who hails from Wichita, Kansas. While being a long time subscriber of Verizon Wireless, Mike says that he does not wish to pay early termination fees if he wants to switch carriers. The scenario will shift substantially if Verizon also goes down the contract-free road. With two carriers pursuing the same avenue, one can expect AT&T and Sprint to retaliate as well. Has T-Mobile ushered in the age of contract-free plans in the U.S.? Only time will tell.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Available On T-Mobile Starting April 24 For $150

Samsung Galaxy S4 Available On T Mobile Starting April 24 For $150

It looks like AT&T’s recent slip of casually announcing the availability of the Samsung Galaxy S4 on the device’s portal on their site may have started something as additional carriers are announcing the availability of the highly-anticipated smartphone on their network. T-Mobile is one of those carriers and is announcing they’ll have the Galaxy S4 starting on April 24.

Yes – that is exactly one week from today and yes, you’ll have the Galaxy S4 in your hand next week if you’re a T-Mobile customer. There’s a bit more to this story, so just hold down your excitement for a little bit longer while we get you through this. Samsung Galaxy S 4 priced at $150 on Sprint and T-Mobile, hits both carriers in late April

Samsung Galaxy S 4 priced at $150 on Sprint and T-Mobile, hits both carriers in late April

US launch details for the Galaxy S 4 are arriving at last, and both Sprint and T-Mobile are on the vanguard. The two carriers plan to sell Samsung’s flagship for $150 in 16GB form, albeit with different pricing strategies: T-Mobile’s plan includes its now-standard device payment installments, while Sprint is discounting the phone from its normal $250 price through a $100 instant credit for those switching to the network. Just when you’ll have the chance to plunk money down also varies. Sprint plans to offer pre-orders starting on April 18th, with an actual launch on April 27th. T-Mobile isn’t giving customers the same opportunity to buy in advance, although they will get to take the Galaxy S 4 home a few days earlier, on April 24th. We’re still waiting on other American carriers to hop on the bandwagon, but we suspect it won’t be long.

T-Mobile HTC One To Release On April 24

T Mobile HTC One To Release On April 24

Back in February T-Mobile announced that it would be carrying the HTC One smartphone. At the time they did not reveal when it was going to be released, and don’t forget the delay HTC One has faced due to manufacturing holdups. Last week Best Buy started taking pre-orders for the T-Mobile HTC One, but still the magenta carrier didn’t reveal when the device was going to be released. A screenshot of a leaked internal memo pegs the release date at April 24.

At first it was image of a T-Mobile retail store planogram that pointed at the April 24 launch date, then another screenshot of an internal memo surfaced bearing the same date. It says that the device will be launched in select stores, while frontline sales representatives will wear HTC t-shirts for four days to promote the launch. HTC One can be purchased from T-Mobile for $99 upfront with 24 monthly installments of $20. So if you’re planning to pick one up, from T-Mobile or any other carrier, I strongly advise that you check out our HTC One review first to make a completely informed decision.

iPhone 5 Brought T-Mobile One Of Its Biggest Launch Weekend

iPhone 5 Brought T Mobile One Of Its Biggest Launch Weekend

Its only been a couple of days since T-Mobile started offering iPhone 5 officially on its network. The Chief Marketing Officer, Mike Sievert, said that T-Mobile experiences lines out the door at nearly 3,000 of its stores across the country. He said that the launch day was “gangbusters,” which means that it went really well. As far as the whole weekend is concerned, the company now says that iPhone 5 brought one of its biggest launch weekends to date.

Mike Seivert said that launch sales were better than their internal expectations, however he did not provide a specific figure, only saying that they beat their “really ambitious” internal goals. Mike also said that majority of the customers who walked in for a new iPhone 5 signed up for T-Mobile’s new Un-carrier plans. The specific figures of iPhone sales won’t be coming any time soon, surely not in the first quarter report that T-Mobile will release in May. The second quarter report might reveal exactly how many iPhone 5 units T-Mobile will be able to move in the next few months. So I’ve got to ask, did you get one?

T-Mobile leak hints at an HTC One launch on April 24th

TMobile leak hints at an HTC One launch on April 24th

We’ve known for a while that April 19th is the big day for AT&T and Sprint versions of the HTC One, yet news of the T-Mobile version’s release has been thin. If TmoNews‘ copy of a staff memo is on target, though, the UnCarrier’s subscribers will only have to wait until April 24th to get their turn. The note tells workers that “select stores” will have the One that day — it doesn’t mention which stores those might be, but it’s safe to say this could mean a launch later than the one Best Buy claimed days ago. When we already know the $99 regular price, about all that’s seemingly left is for T-Mobile to give the final word.

MetroPCS board approves Deutsche Telekom’s merger offer, urges shareholders to do the same

After delaying a vote on T-Mobile’s final merger bid a few days ago, MetroPCS’ board of directors has voiced unanimous approval and is encouraging shareholders to vote yes as well. Deutsche Telekom’s offer would reduce MetroPCS’ debt by $3.8 billion as well as slash the interest rate on that debt by half a point. These measures should increase both the carrier’s overall value and cash flow — hopefully that will help in building out LTE more quickly. For folks fearing that T-Mo will suffer from buyer’s remorse, don’t. The offer also stipulates that Deutsche Telekom will refrain from selling its shares in the combined company for 18 months. It remains to be seen if stock owners will be convinced enough to vote yes on April 23rd; and so the saga continues.

T-Mobile iPhone Launch Day Was “Gangbusters”

T Mobile iPhone Launch Day Was Gangbusters

Six years ago on 29th June, 2007 the original iPhone came out, AT&T was the only carrier in U.S. that had it exclusively. The carrier was stripped of its exclusivity when CDMA iPhone 4 was released on Verizon. T-Mobile has never officially carried the iPhone, but since last week, it does. April 12th saw the iPhone 5 being launched on T-Mobile, a day that was “gangbusters” according to the CMO.

Mike Sievert, the Chief Marketing Officer of T-Mobile said that they experienced lines out the door on launch day at nearly all of their 3,000 stores across the U.S. Sales are off to a good start, which are no doubt vital to the rebranding efforts of T-Mobile. It recently announced the all new Un-carrier plans as well as rolled out its 4G LTE network in seven markets. T-Mobile is already advertising iPhone 5 on its network in TV ads, they’ll be launching ads in print and digital mediums soon. Took T-Mobile long, but its finally in the iPhone game. Wonder what the lines outside their stores across the U.S. will be like when they get the next generation iPhones?

T-Mobile iPhone 5 Now Available For $99

T Mobile iPhone 5 Now Available For $99

It’s been a long time coming as T-Mobile getting the iPhone on its network has been rumored ever since the iPhone was debuted. Apple’s smartphone was first made available on AT&T, then hit Verizon and Sprint, and today, the fourth-largest wireless carrier, T-Mobile, can now say they have the iPhone for sale.

The recent launch of T-Mobile’s new contract-free mobile plans couldn’t have come at a better time as its customers could walk away with a 16GB iPhone 5 for only $99 due when you order the device with an additional fee of $20 for 24 months. Or, you could make it rain at your local T-Mobile retailer by spending a full $579 for the 16GB iPhone 5. If you want a 32GB or 64GB version, you’ll need to add $100 for the 32GB version and $200 for the 64GB version as well as order them online as T-Mobile stores won’t have them available for sale.
