Samsung Galaxy Note 2 on T-Mobile sees release date leaked

It goes without saying that rumors, leaks and other kinds of tips from readers could very well be as real as a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow or a leprechaun riding on a unicorn. That is, they could just disappear in a wisp of smoke when faced with the almighty “official announcement”, or they could materialize into the real world since it was a closely guarded secret from the beginning that somehow, one way or another, managed to slip out. Well, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 was whispered to be released on October 24th on T-Mobile, and considering how that is the very same day that Samsung will be carrying out their own launch event in New York City, some folks have put two-and-two together to say it is the pivotal moment where store shelves are stocked with the Galaxy Note 2.

Should that happen, you will be able to choose from either one of two colors – Titanium Gray and White, and we are keeping our fingers crossed that additional information will be made public soon, especially by T-Mobile. We sure hope that this will be the patched version when released so that it has no missing split screen feature.

T-Mobile announces Nokia Lumia 810

Just a few weeks after the Windows Phone 8X was announced to arrive on T-Mobile’s platform later this fall, they have mentioned that the Nokia Lumia 810 will also be thrown into the mix, being a true blue exclusive to T-Mobile. Just what makes the Nokia Lumia 810 different from the Nokia Lumia 820? Well, apart from the obvious name difference, shared similarities include a 4.3” ClearBlack display as well an 8-megapixel Carl Zeiss camera amongst others, in addition to a 1.2-megapixel wide-angle Skype HD certified front-facing camera which is capable of shooting video in 720p resolution. The 1800mAh battery ought to last the Lumia 810 for an entire day, and while it comes in black on T-Mobile, fret not – there is always the option to swap out the case for different colors. The remaining pieces of information that we are now waiting for would be pricing and availability details.

Having said that, this would most probably mean that the rumored Lumia 822 that appeared on Verizon’s catalogue would in all probability, be a somewhat similar variant of the Lumia 820, albeit for Verizon Wireless. When will the Lumia 920 get its own variants?

TMobile to Offer the Nokia Lumia 810 exclusively in the US

T-Mobile announced on Monday that it will exclusively offer the Nokia Lumia 810 in the United States. Set to be available “in the coming weeks,” the 810 features a 4.3-inch OLED WVGA Clear Black display, an 8-megapixel Carl Zeiss optics rear-facing camera, a 1.2-megapixel Skype HD-certified front-facing shooter, Windows Phone 8 and support for T-Mobile’s HSPA+ faux 4G network. If those specs sound a little familiar, they should — the 810 seems quite a bit similar to the already announced 820. There are some details absent from this release, however, including CPU, storage, RAM and pricing, but we expect this to be remedied in the coming days. Now that T-Mobile and Ma Bell have called dibs on some of Nokia’s first wave of Windows Phone 8 devices, we’re left to wonder if America’s other two major wireless carriers will soon get with the program.

T-Mobile Nabs Nokia’s New Lumia 810 Windows Phone, Points To A Launch In “The Coming Weeks”

Tmo1

When T-Mobile announced it would carry the LG Optimus L9 earlier today, I bemoaned the carrier’s lack of compelling exclusive devices. As it turns out, that may have been a bit hasty of me — Nokia has just let slip that its new Windows Phone 8-powered Lumia 810 will hit T-Mobile’s shelves in the coming weeks.

As the name implies, the Lumia 810 is a mildly-tweaked version of the Lumia 820 that rival carrier AT&T will carry later this year. Most of the device’s basics remain the same — it still sports a 4.3-inch OLED Clear Black display (running at WVGA, for better or worse), Nokia’s slew of software additions, and an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera — but the 810 is obviously tuned to play nice with T-Mobile’s 4G network. What’s more, the 810′s Skype HD certified 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera is just a hair more robust than the VGA shooter used on the 820.

The Lumia 820 (and by extension, the 810) was positioned by Nokia as more of a mid-range device in comparison to the flagship Lumia 920, but T-Mobile’s Windows Phone fans are probably used to getting stuck with the mid-range treatment. After all, the last Nokia Windows Phone to hit that carrier’s magenta-tinged airwaves was the relatively dull Lumia 710 — not a bad phone by any stretch, but it came to look chintzy and unrefined compared to Nokia’s preferred Lumia 900.

Just as you’d expect, T-Mobile isn’t ready to talk price points just yet but I wouldn’t expect to pay much at all. Considering the 710′s low starting price tag (and the fact that plenty of retailers ended up selling for free), the shiny new 810 it shouldn’t ding your wallet too much with a two-year contract.

T-Mobile Will Launch LG’s Ice Cream Sandwich-Powered Optimus L9 “This Fall”

optimusl9

AT&T and Sprint have already laid claim to LG’s flagship Optimus G handset, but what of the rest of the Big 4 national carriers? Verizon has been keeping awfully quiet on the subject — maybe because it’s still trying to push LG’s curious Intuition phablet — and for now it seems T-Mobile is making do with another, less illustrious Korean handset.

The carrier has just announced that it will launch the LG Optimus L9, but like nearly every other phone announcement made in the past few weeks, there’s nary a hint at pricing to be found. Even its release date is shrouded in secrecy — all T-Mobile will say is that it’s set to launch “later this fall”.

Even though T-Mobile and LG are clearly keeping key details hush-hush at this point, they couldn’t completely keep the news under wraps.

Here’s the skinny on the Ice Cream Sandwich-powered L9: it packs a 4.5-inch, Gorilla Glass 2-coated display running at 960×540, and a dual-core 1GHz processor of unknown make. Meanwhile, a 5-megapixel camera can be found on the 9.1mm-thick device’s rear end, while the device’s 2,150mAh battery should keep things ticking along for quite some time. Alright, fine, it’s not the most exciting spec sheet you’re going to see over these next few months, and the L9 announcement may highlight an even bigger issue for T-Mobile — what’s going to be their big holiday seller?

For a while there it seemed like the natural heavy-hitter would be HTC’s One X+, which appeared on a T-Mobile document under a pseudonym. As it turns out though, the One X+ is an AT&T exclusive, and the perhaps the only top-tier device that the magenta-clad carrier is expected to carry (the Galaxy Note II) is slated to launch on most other carriers as well.

TMobile makes LG Optimus L9 official, carries supersized, lowcost Android this fall

We knew it was coming — we just didn’t expect official news quite so soon. T-Mobile has confirmed that its edition of the LG Optimus L9 will be available this fall. The magenta network’s supersized yet entry level Android 4.0 phone won’t be significantly different than its international cousin in hardware outside of the necessary 3G frequency switch, but the American GSM variant will support WiFi Calling, allow five-device hotspots and ship with a preloaded copy of Slacker Radio. Any pricing and an in-store date will have to wait; even with that 4.5-inch screen and 2,150mAh battery, though, it’s easy to picture the L9 costing less than many of T-Mobile’s smaller smart devices.

Nano-SIMs reportedly popping up at T-Mobile stores, ready to welcome your iPhone 5

The iPhone 5 may not be ready for sale unlocked officially just yet, but that doesn’t mean T-Mobile isn’t ready to be your service provider. As evidenced by the photo above, the folks at TmoNews and YouTuber BigRicksChannel have confirmed that the carrier is now selling iPhone 5-compatible Nano-SIMs. Of course, these’ll work just fine with the Verizon-variant of the the 4-inch device, as it’s technically unlocked out of the box. Need proof beyond a photo? Catch the video after the break to see it connecting to T-Mobile’s network for yourself.

Sprint reportedly looking to outbid T-Mobile on MetroPCS deal

The other day we reported that the executive boards of both T-Mobile and MetroPCS have approved the merger of the two companies. Prior to that, it was rumored that T-Mobile was not the only interested party and that Sprint and Dish Network were reportedly interested in MetroPCS as well. Given Sprint’s rather vocal stance on the whole T-Mobile and AT&T merger, to a certain extent we guess we’re not surprised to learn that Sprint isn’t too happy with the T-Mobile and MetroPCS merger either.

According to the folks at Bloomberg, they have reported that the carrier is looking to make a counter offer of its own and are looking to outbid T-Mobile on the deal. However this might be slightly complicated as there are breakup fees involved where T-Mobile will have to pay MetroPCS $250 million if they back out of the deal, and MetroPCS will have to pay T-Mobile $150 million if they back out of the deal. These are some of the costs that Sprint will probably have to take into consideration if they plan to outbid T-Mobile. Representatives of all three carriers declined to comment on the report but we will keep our eyes and ears peeled nonetheless.

LG Optimus L9 spotted with T-Mobile branding

So the MetroPCS and T-Mobile merger has gone through, where it will be the former taking over the latter, but I guess we will not see MetroPCS’ branding on the LG Optimus L9 anytime soon as a leaked image of T-Mobile’s logo on said handset has appeared. It is rather interesting to note that both LG and T-Mobile have not yet officially announced the availability of such a handset, so we will have to make do with hearsay at the moment.

While the LG Optimus L9 looks like a rather decent smartphone that borders on the high end, reading the list of hardware specifications tell a different story. The LG Optimus L9 will fall under the mid-range smartphone market with a 1GHz dual-core processor running the show, accompanied by 1GB RAM, 4GB of internal memory, a rather generous 4.7″ qHD display, a 5-megapixel shooter and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in tow.
