T-Mobile Rolls Out Carrier Bundle To Enable iPhone 5 LTE

T Mobile Rolls Out Carrier Bundle To Enable iPhone 5 LTE

Last week it was reported that T-Mobile will be rolling out a new firmware update for unlocked iPhones on its network. The update would allow unlocked iPhone 5 devices on the T-Mobile network to connect to its newly launched 4G LTE network, and use other services such as Visual Voicemail. This new carrier bundle allows access to AWS spectrum bands meaning that unlocked iPhone 5 devices, which were previously limited to HSPA+, on the network now have full access to LTE. The latest carrier bundle comes merely days before the release of iPhone 5 on T-Mobile, taking place on the 12th of April.

The carrier bundle (ipcc) pushed out for iPhones enables T-Mobile 4G LTE on iPhone 5 and general service for all older iPhones. The update is available to all iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 owners from the About Phone page in the Settings app. T-Mobile’s LTE network has only been launched in seven markets as of now, those who’re not based in those markets will be connecting to the T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network, even if they’ve downloaded the new firmware update and the latest carrier bundle.

T Mobile Confirms BlackBerry Z10 Launch Is On March 26

Despite the fact that BlackBerry Z10 was announced on 30th January in New York City, the U.S. market gets it substantially late. The device was almost immediately available for customers in the UK and Canada, while it was gradually released in a host of markets around the world. The delay in its release is caused due to carrier testing, but as promised, the Z10 will be available in the US this month. T-Mobile confirmed their launch date of the Z10 earlier today via Twitter, pegging it at March 26.

The @TMobileHelp Twitter gave out this information in reply to a prospective customer’s tweet. The BlackBerry Z10 will be compatible with T-Mobile 4G LTE network. The March 26 date makes absolute sense, since T-Mobile is conducting a special event that day. As far as the Z10 is concerned, its true that its fate rests in the hands of the U.S. market. It has done relatively well in other markets. The company says that initial response is good, but we’ll only really truly know if the Z10 has made it based on its performance in the U.S. market, a market dominated largely by Apple and Samsung. Can we expect it to outdo significantly better rivals such as the Galaxy S4 and iPhone 5? Time will tell.
